  3. Not a chance in hell I'm reading every post in this thread but a few thoughts: 1) Kyle Rittenhouse is a bad human being. The world would be better without him in it. 2) Legally, he's gonna walk. 3) If I go to a MAGA rally with an AR-15 style rifle, start yelling anti-Trump shit, and then start shooting once I feel threatened, I'm sure many defending Kyle right now would have different feelings towards me. 4) The glorification of Kyle is the most troubling part, and a shocking view as to how our society has crumbled in the Trump era. George Zimmerman's innocence was defended, but he was never lauded as some kind of hero. He absolutely would be in 2021.

  4. Dipshits, I saw on the NIL thread that some of you are backing out of the Burn Ends because Cousin ITT has a stupid personality or because the team sucks and some player gets tackled by grass. Look, NIL was always about the building for the future and getting ahead of other programs by 1) getting in early, 2) establishing a track record, 3) attracting talent. In other words, if we want Mother Fuckers like David Thomas, or Jermichael Finley back on campus, we need to do this and not just let it come down to Captain Personality (Sark). Quit being bitchasses, support Burnt Ends, and help the team not be shit. Do your part. Would you like to know more?

  11. Oh here we go. In the world every non-boomer has grown up in, easy access to current and relevant information has been a constant for all of our lives. Being younger today doesn't mean you're more up to date on music, just less refined and experienced. We can all listen to the current pussies with no flow sob-talk into their mics and still appreciate the legends who built and defined the genre. It's like I'm sitting here playing cards with my brother's kids or something. You nerve-wracking sonsabitches.

  15. There are two different conversations overlapping. I do not doubt Rittenhouse feared for his life. And, by the letter of the law, it certainly appears that a not guilty conviction is not an unreasonable conclusion. But common sense just makes this whole situation fucking suck. There's no doubt that, as a die-hard Astros fan, I could put myself in a situation where I fear for my life in/around Dodger Stadium (for the purposes of this analogy, let's pretend California is open carry). And there's no doubt that I could put myself in a situation where shooting someone for my own safety is legally justified. But I don't put myself in that situation, because I'm not a fucking idiot. All of the evidence (real evidence, not made up stories for the court) confirm that this dude is a POS of the highest order. I don't think he planned to go murder people that night, but he sure as hell willingly entered a combative situation without the training or mindset needed for the weapon he was carrying. He got rowdy living his Call of Duty fantasy, shit predictably escalated, and he used the tools he brought along to (in his mind) stay alive. I'm not arguing about a verdict. Most people can see where this is headed. It just really fucking sucks and was so goddamn preventable.

  17. Imma put this hear because there were no injuries. I'm driving on the I-10 service road in spring branch. You may have heard we have bad drivers in Houston sometimes. This dipshit going about sixty cuts across two lanes to get in front of two cars (including me) about to merge onto 10. He does not see that there is a curb protecting the merge lane. He hits that bad boy at full speed, sparks fly, he loses control, side swipes a retaining wall, hit some more shit and limps to a crawl on the entrance ramp. His shit is all fucked up and he takes the exit. It's little joys like this that make life worth living.

  19. Yep. Take two ends of the spectrum. Guy goes into a Whataburger with a permitted concealed handgun. Gets into a confrontation with another patron over who was in line first, the other patron escalates the situation into an all-out rage attack and pulls a knife, guy takes out his gun and shoots the other patron dead. Pretty sure most of us would agree that's justifiable self-defense that should not result in a criminal prosecution. On the other end, a guy openly carries a rifle into the middle of a riot without any necessity of being there to protect his person or property, and starts indiscriminately firing shots in the air (I'm not saying that KR did anything like this, I'm just pushing the scenario to the extreme). The angry mob descends upon him and he shoots several dead. That's going to cause a lot more debate over whether a theory of self-defense should acquit any criminal prosecution. Depending on the jurisdiction, a strict application of a self-defense statute might require an acquittal.

  20. This is the kind of stuff that keeps me on the "keep this staff intact and give them 3 years" train. It takes a lot to instill culture, and we are all cynical because we've heard it before, but it is necessary and it has to be done at some point.

  21. Honest reply because you are one of my favorite posters on The Surl: He's no right wing hero. He's a symptom of a larger issue that the right has--selective prosecution. There's no way, in normal circumstances, anyone would know this kid's name because he would have been charged with minimal charges, pled out and served his time/paid the fine. But the fact that Corporate Media stoked the fires, and even had the current president chimed in on his "guilt", did the DA make this a murder charge. Your a lawyer, you know this is bullshit. Hell, Binger even alluded to it yesterday in one of his objections. His case hinges on politics. The right is/was frustrated watching places like Kenosha burn while the police were directed to stand by. It's selective and we should all be pissed when The State brings is weight against a citizen for political reasons.

  23. Warm apple pie and homemade vanilla ice cream. Any other variation is a travesty. Here’s the last apple pie my mom made for me. I had carried dad over to the farm and spent the night and when we got back the next evening she had this made. Her (fuck) cancer was in remission at that point and was feeling pretty for the first time in months. A big ass slice of pie into the bowl and a couple of scoops of ice cream on top. Damn it was good. RIP mom, miss you a bunch.

  28. https://grantland.com/hollywood-prospectus/bill-murray-likes-to-call-kelly-lynchs-husband-every-time-he-sees-patrick-swayze-having-sex-with-her-in-road-house/ Bill Murray Likes to Call Kelly Lynch’s Husband Every Time He Sees Patrick Swayze Having Sex With Her in Road House by STEVEN HYDEN The next time you instantly erase 114 minutes of your life by getting sucked, once again, into the vortex that is a cable viewing of Road House, rest assured that Bill Murray and his idiot brothers are out there somewhere, watching with you. At least that’s the story from Road House co-star Kelly Lynch, who, in a frankly awesome interview with The A.V. Club, says that Murray calls her husband, Mitch Glazer (co-writer of Murray’s 1988 Christmas Carol redux Scrooged), whenever the movie is on TV during one scene in particular: To clarify, Bill Murray’s idiot brothers include fellow Saturday Night Live alumnus Brian Doyle Murray and Mad Men star Joel Murray. Apparently, their sex-scene heckling is so reliable that Lynch has come to expect it every time — and she means every single time — Road House is on TV, which is a whole hell of a lot of times. “I dread it,” she says. “If I know it’s coming on — and I can tell when it’s coming on, because it blows up on Twitter when it is — I’m just like, ‘Oh, my God …’ And God help me when AMC’s doing their Road House marathon, because I know the phone is just going to keep ringing. It doesn’t matter if it’s 2 or 3 in morning. ‘Hi, Kelly’s having sex with Patrick Swayze right now …’” Somehow, this only elevates our enjoyment of both Bill Murray and Road House.
