  1. Texas did not have a holding call called against their opponent in big 12 play all season last year. In two big 12 games, officials did not call a single penalty against our opponent. Not a single holding call… let that soak in.

  2. They’re not elite. They’ll go backwards this year. Last year was Texas 2018 for them. I was in the southeast for the past two weeks and I had a Texas hat on a couple of times. Each time, a random person felt compelled to come up to me to tell me that Texas isn’t the “real UT”. I simply responded by saying “There’s only one Texas as far as I am concerned. “ Then they’d try to explain that they were Tennessee fans, to which I told them I didn’t realize Tennessee thought of themselves as “UT”. Both guys couldn’t believe it. That shit is going to be fun.

  4. Hmmm. These 660+ longhorns weren’t sipping tea during WW2. They were dying for their country: https://www.burntorangenation.com/2021/5/31/22412261/remembering-the-fallen-texas-longhorns-of-world-war-2-memorial-day As were 64 horned frogs (including MOH honoree TCU alum and letterman Horace Carswell, whose valor is stolen by aggy). https://hometownbyhandlebar.com/?p=6964#:~:text=Sixty-four students or alumni,of all alumni and students. As did 125 Baylor students. https://www2.baylor.edu/baylorproud/2021/10/for-75-years-now-baylors-memorial-lampposts-have-honored-those-who-served-our-country/ As did 86 UH students. https://gocoogs.com/uh-students-defend-the-country/ Can’t readily find any info on Rice or TTU casualties in WW2, although TTU was a training center for the Army Air Corps. https://today.ttu.edu/posts/2021/11/Stories/How-World-War-II-Saved-Texas-Tech That’s what’s so offensive about aggy. Their stolen valor. Were the lives of the men from the other universities in Texas less valuable than aggy lives? Were they less heroic? Less dead? EVERY other university in the country (except maybe some Mennonite schools) sent men to fight and die in WW2. aggy’s exclusive claim to heroism and valor is spitting in the faces of the men who died defending this country. And as pointed out many times in this thread, the actual male-only military academies were also winning football games during the 30s, 40s, and 50s.

  5. My mother passed away last week and my Dad thought it was time to start giving stuff away. He gave me a lot of my grandfathers service records from WWII along with some other things. The one thing that I have always wanted to keep in the family is a piece of flak that struck my grandfather in the chest on one of his 35 missions. The flak and his mission list is posted below. The picture of the mission list is a scan, but I have the real one that is pretty delicate, so didn’t want to handle it. I remember looking at it as a young boy in amazement and one of my greatest regrets in life is not talking with my grandfather about the war. I have no idea if he would have been open to it, but he died when I was 18 and I didn’t have the sense to talk with him at that age. I have some other things that I’ll post in the future, but this is the most treasured to me.

  6. Just spent a week with someone who used to work closely with Biden for many years - first name-basis, all of that (focus was East Asian affairs). His take: Biden is doing well…would have done better when he was younger. His age is definitely starting to show, and he’s not as quick off-the-cuff as he once was. He’s not debilitated by any means, but he’s just not as quick. The Inflation Reduction Act was a huge win, economically, environmentally (positioning the US as a green energy tech and production leader), and geopolitically (re-shoring from China, showing China that its true vulnerability is if it alienates the west too much). He gives Biden a B on China. He things that our relations with China hit their low point, and are now slowly improving (recent Blinken and Yellen meetings are key). Biden has made it very clear that if China arms Russia, they will face crippling sanctions…and China has no interest in doubling down on its bad bet on Russia. There’s a path towards equilibrium, he’s just approaching it very slowly, which is a campaign deal: he doesn’t want to look either too hard or too soft on China. Ukraine is the biggest US foreign policy win in decades. In large part because we let Russia self-immolate, but also because it’s been exploited to solidify our role in Europe and create a split between China and Russia. It’s been played masterfully, but then, Biden has been prepped for fucking with Russia his whole life. All-in-all, he’s pleased with the Biden presidency. He wishes he wasn’t so old, and really wishes he wouldn’t be so old when he runs again, but he looks at the competition and shrugs his shoulders.

  8. See this is the issue with identity politics. You hear something like CRT, which is nothing more than a particular lens through which history and public policy can be evaluated. Some inevitable conclusions from such an analysis are that American cultural, financial, and legal systems include or are even largely based upon components that disadvantage people of color generally and black people in particular. As someone presenting here as a white male conservative of at least moderate affluence, you have inherently benefited from such systems. So when you hear a criticism of American society you interpret as a personal attack. "If the system that benefits me is racist then you're saying I'm racist." Which is not really logical. A passenger train hits a guy crossing the tracks. The railway might be responsible for his death but the passengers are not. But if a passenger interprets this event as "he was probably drunk or suicidal. Society is better off without him, no way we need to slow down the train at that intersection or introduce other safeguards that will slow my commute." Well, that passenger is a piece of human shit utterly devoid of empathy. So no one wants you to say you hate black people. But your insistence that a discussion about the inherent disadvantages faced by black people in this country in an academic setting subject to rigorous, thoughtful analysis is somehow a threat to the youth of America is not only insane but utterly devoid of empathy, exposing you as a piece of human shit.

  20. Your comprehension just isn’t there and you fully think you’re smart at this. It will never be a thing in k-12. It will definitely still be used as a lens for analysis in doctoral level studies. @Poe It Up and other radical conservatives are trying to force themselves to believe that the tenets of CRT are so ridiculous, laughable, and untrue because they believe they would never be part of a culture that would do that to minorities. They’ve been fed this misbelief by their family, friends, pastors while simultaneously doing the very thing CRT asserts is being done. It’s pretty fascinating really.

  28. This. It reminds me of a discussion 15 or so years ago when the FIL was ranting that climate change was some libtard conspiracy made up to keep PhDs "rich" by studying stuff. He admitted that it was getting hotter & the impact that it was having on their ranch & the output of the neighboring ranchers, but his fallback was that if the earth was ever in that much danger, God would come and fix it if Christians proved their love for him. How the fuck do you reason with that outlook? They act as children with no culpability.
