Watching Georgia melt down on the Dawgs247 board is absolutely delicious. The whining and bitching about money is so glorious that it's starting to give me a headache. These motherfuckers have been buying players since day 1 of Smart's arrival and now they're bitching about big bad Texas. Sorry about us deciding that we, too, have a payroll to meet and it's ... um ... a lot bigger than yours, you truly poor bastards.83 points

Terry on the OTF Livestream just said that he decided against USC (where he was once committed) because of the taxes, lol69 points

What a difference a couple days/a week makes. In our view, Texas' IDL class was basically trying to hold on to Charles. Mbatchou left, we thought Sharma was likely gone, and Terry was a Surly fantasy. Now, Texas has arguably the best three. Combine that with Lance Jackson and Smith Orogbo, and WOW, this DL class is salty as fuck. Let alone the entire defensive class. Now this is what a Texas football recruiting class should look like:43 points

Michael Terry III and Justus Terry in the same week? Dare I say it? Austin is about to become ... ... Terrytown41 points

The sheer amount of "you can't build a program with mercernaries, you need players that want to be there" from fucking GEORGIA boards is out of pocket this morning.41 points

Ever since it happened, I've been puzzled by how a seemingly pretty mortal Georgia team came in to Austin and beat us by double digits. I wanted to refresh my memory on what happened, and understand what it means for our rematch tomorrow. So I bit the bullet and rewatched the entire thing, taking a lot of notes. What follows is a drive-by-drive recap and my takeaways. First off, here's the game on YouTube: 1st Half Drives: 2nd Half Drives: OK, so what did I learn from subjecting myself to this? I thought we were physically outmatched on the OL, but it wasn't as bad as I remembered. A lot of the pressure they got on Quinn was due to intelligent blitz schemes, or miscommunications on our part. They also did a good job of keeping tight coverage and limiting Quinn's options. That said, Quinn did not play well. His interception was a bad throw, and he got away with a couple others. He threw at covered receivers several times. He was responsible for the self-sack deep in our own end, which really hurt us. There were a couple of opportunities for him to scramble for yardage that he didn't take. Mykel Williams in particular played absolutely out of his mind. We had no answer for him. Special teams hurt us and really contributed to the field position difference. I think we got too cute at times with the horizontal passing and running game. I feel like we saw this some against aggy as well. Georgia's defense was too fast to be beaten like that. They capitalized on our turnovers, and we largely couldn't on theirs, with the exception of the 3rd quarter interception. A big reason is because almost all of the turnovers happened deep in our end of the field. Our D can play with them. They had one sustained drive (that admittedly came at a crucial time), and that's about it. I feel somewhat better about tomorrow after rewatching. A lot of the negative things that we did can and should be cleaned up. We need Quinn to take care of the ball, special teams to not be a net negative, and Sark to not get too reliant on the east-west game, and we'll be ok. I expect that going into a hostile environment at College Station last weekend and coming away with the W will help our guys not feel like the moment is too big for them. Hook 'em, fuck Georgia, ou sucks, let's fucking go.38 points

Once upon a time, I lost my insulin and syringes in paris on my way to cannes when on vacation. I discovered this around dinnertime with a week left on my vacation. I was in trouble. I had no prescription on me. I explained my predicament to the hotel concierge, and they explained how my problem could be resolved. 1. Take a taxi to the hospital. Concierge called the taxi. 2. Taxi dropped me off at the hospital where I explained my situation to a nurse who didn’t speak english, and I didn’t speak french. Someone in the waiting room acted as the translator. Nurse wrote me a prescription without any hassle. Just took my word (translated) for it. 3. A security guy at the hospital called me a taxi to go to the police station. Since it was after hours, the police were the only people authorized to access a pharmacy. 4. I went to the police station and explain my predicament. The cop called the pharmacy and called a taxi for me. 5. Taxi took me to the pharmacy and opened it just for me and sold me my two types of insulin. 6. I walked went to dinner astounded that this entire process took less time than my normal visit to my endocrinologist. Charge for hospital to write me a prescription = $0 Charge for cop to call the pharmacy = $0 charge for pharmacy to sell me my two types of insulin = $10 Anyone complaining about the french model or french service is a fool.38 points

Poor fucking Georgia will just have to get by with their other 5 star DT signee who is actually ranked above Terry, another 5 star edge, and two other 4 star edges, all ranked within the national top 50. And then the FOUR other 4 star DTs (3 of them national top 75) plus another 3 star DT that they signed last year. Let's hope they can still field a team after this set back.34 points

I'm not a big fan of NIL. It changes the nature of college sports in irreversible ways. But in the last twenty years I've been screaming for kids to get off my lawn on the subject, I've always stated declaratively no program in the country will benefit from opening that pandora's box the way Texas will. And that was before 20 more years of Austin growth and still no professional sports team in any of the 3 major sports on the horizon. It didn't happen by accident, but I'm very appreciative of the Longhorn alums who got off their ass and actually did something to move NIL forward rather than being a keyboard warrior like me. Watching programs like Alabama, OU, Georgia, Clemson, LSU (I guess A&M? they never did anything with it, though) et al have their advantage in their willingness to provide under the table inducements to players and their families, oftentimes at unprecedented game changing levels historically, be completely annihilated through the Supreme Court eviscerating the NCAA's ability to enforce...well...just about anything, has led to a golden era in UT sports. Add in we're not going out of our way from an administrative level to put competitive obstacles in our path - or at least not as much as we used to - and it just feels like we're in the midst of seeing something really special. It can still all be screwed up with the wrong coach, but thankfully that doesn't appear to be our issue. For me this feels like a big fuck you to all the paying of players and their handlers to grab instate talent that otherwise would have naturally signed with Texas that happened over the past 70 years. It's an even playing field in that regard now, but like the pigs say at the end of Animal Farm, "We're all equal here. We're just a little equaler."33 points

Whoever compared OL to Bama, here, twitter, whatever, is starfucking and little more. In the last four classes, Texas signed 18 guys, Bama signed 15. Texas has lost one of those guys and Bama has lost at least two. Three of the Texas signees are starters, each of whom will be drafted in the 2025 draft if they leave early, two going in the first round. The Texas OL has largely been a wall and the rotators and backups who have played haven’t changed that. Meanwhile, Bama’s OL has become a thin and disheveled sieve by Bama standards, even with a star mobile QB behind them. Maybe Flood has something to do with it and maybe dummies that can’t even dive surface deep should try harder. Folks worried about OL rankings are worrying about the exact thing that recruiting analysts suck the worst at, by a wide margin. Cam Williams was ranked collectively as the 283rd player in the country coming out of HS. He was a 3 star for 247, while playing for a large, highly visible football factory of a HS power.32 points

Getting a top DT out of UGA and Auburn’s backyard when they went all-in for him is a seismic shift in the CFB landscape. Only thing bigger would be winning the SEC our first year in it.27 points

I'm really going to need the recruiting forum to learn that the apostrophe goes before the 2 digit shortened year numerals. It's an epidemic worse than tackling in the Mack Brown and Manny Diaz era. It is '05, it is not 05'. Also *Kasey Also also *Studdard Thank you.27 points
