OR... just maybe, you got a players looking around thinking, I'm better than the guys playing, I'm doing everything asked of me and yet I'm not getting a fair shake.  It's one thing if the guys in front of you are performing, but when you see them making mistake after mistake and are still playing...

Without spring ball the opportunity for some of these guys to jump starters was made very difficult

I didn't mean specifically that Kenyatta was looking for the wrong reasons, but the topics dovetail.  There are plenty of guys that don't even give us a shot (ahem, Brockermeyers) because they can smell the stench before stepping foot on campus.

Just another symptom of the overall lack of program management, and it seems like our player's mentality if they aren't playing is to enter the portal.  Not that I truly blame them, it just isn't a good look.

Hell, I'm ready to enter the portal on this team.

Yeah, but other than those guys...

Yeah it's a new era.  15 years ago the list of transfers that went on to be successful was small, but that wasn't because only entitled pussies transferred like we thought.  It was because the eligibility loss and restrictive powers of the cuckolded coach made it generally a bad idea to transfer, so most didn't.  With those things removed there are plenty of talented players with legit reasons to transfer and it's made a huge impact on college football.

So, how many players who transferred to another team, besides Beuchele, have had a great career and got drafted?

Jean Delance is starting for UF and the OL that went to Auburn seemed to do ok.  God knows we could use linemen that are more than warm bodies.

This portal shit is the worst thing to happen to CFB, imo. Yeah, it's great when we get someone, but these kids now just use it when they get pissy.

From our team.

Jordan Elliot was just drafted in the 3rd round.  I assume he was successful at Mizzou to get drafted that high.  I know it was good riddance when GG transferred but he was drafted out of SMU which absolutely wouldn't have happened had he stayed.  If you are just limiting it to Texas, we haven't really had much NFL talent stay or leave regardless.

Glad I wasn't the only one who saw this.  On first down too.

Guys on the Horn postgame show mentioned Jones celebrating too.  I was kind of confused on the first run for 4 yards when he got up and flexed.  When he did it after a 7 yard run, I wanted him off the field.  But he got to celebrate a few more gashing runs that he made the tackle on.

I see our guys celebrate way to many mediocre plays.  You would think when our DBs make a routine play that they had just saved the game.  I get it to a point, but when you are playing like shit in general, make your tackle and run your ass back to the huddle.

I got a quite a bit of negative feedback for being mad about the locker room party after the Tech game, but all I could think about was how that shit wouldn't happen in Saban's locker room after such a shit performance.

We were only missing the crowd surf from Herman to be full Charlie Strong level of happy on a shitty win.

The mentality on this team extremely far away from championship level.

Perhaps, yes they are thinking that, perhaps they think highly of themselves and they arent really that good but they think they are?  I dunno I know our staff is shit on the obvious, but our secondary sucks shit at the moment, and if you are not beating out the starting guys, your chance to shine elsewhere may be at a Juco, because the current crop wouldnt crack a 2 deep at any of the top 10 programs right now

Yeah, I remember McCarron and his Center getting on each other's asses for a false start when they were already beating the absolute fuck out of Notre Dame in the title game.  Bama beats the shit out of everyone because they show no mercy.  They come to kill, pillage and destroy their opponents.

That all falls back to culture and teams taking on the personality of their leadership. When I look at Saban's, Meyer's, and Swinney's teams, I can see that the players treat football games as business. They may be amateur athletes in status, but they are expected to act like professionals. The players are inspired to eat, breathe, and sleep football. The official face time between coaches and players may be limited, but these teams' players are "at work" 24/7. Proper nutrition, taking injury rehab/post game recovery seriously, studying the playbook/coverages, watching film of opposing quarterbacks and defenses, etc. are all the things they actively pursue in their time off. Combining elite athletes with sound game planning, practice, and S&C consistently gets you in the top 10-15. Having the discipline instilled in the players to do all the little things when away from the coaches is what makes a team a yearly CFP participant like Clemson and Bama.

Compare that to our situation. Our coaches can't even be efficient with the time they do spend in front of their players. Our players haven't been coached football and they haven't been even introduced to what acting like a professional means. It should be no surprise that they act like entitled prima donnas because they don't know any better.

Orientation lecture summer ‘88. English 316 they said would be the reaper.

Similar experience;

My wife and I were at Parent Orientation in 2010 as my daughter was an entering freshman in the School of Natural Sciences.  The Dean was addressing the parents and scaring the crap out of most of the parents.  I graduated from UT in 1988 and I was even scared of what he was saying!  He told the parents to look to their left and to their right.  He then said that chances are those parent's kids would not graduate from UT.

He went on to tell some funny and scary antics of what some students do in school concerning grades.  He mentioned that one of the reasons that there is security at graduation is because of family fights.  Some students say they are graduating when in fact they had been lying and actually will not walk.  Some students have been telling their parents they are graduating with honors when actually they are barely graduating.  The law is there to prevent severe repercussions!

For the record, my daughter graduated from UT in 2014.

I forget who it was Saturday, but we also frequently have guys who celebrate a big hit on a ball carrier who is past the first down marker. Our football IQ as a unit is pitiful.

For years, I never understood why any young man with the opportunity to play football in Austin would not jump on it. That should have been everyone's dream. If the Horns wanted you, you couldn't say no, right?

These days,  If you have even a remote dream of playing in the NFL or just want to maximize your college career, why would you come to Austin? Guys show up as freshman studs and by the time they leave look like HS freshmen. Your slim draft chances are even slimmer. And if you actually want to compete for a championship, this is not the place. The coaches sucks, the Athletic Department is a joke and the fans are moving away from football. Go somewhere where you will be happy.

And it's not like UT is the only school turning out high earners. You can get by with a Ou, LSU, Aggy degree.

I made a joke that if the season got cancelled we should have a swimsuit competition with Texas State. Thinking that the premier academic institution in the state would have plenty of thots. You just wouldn't be able to recognize them so easily like State. The experts convinced me that it would be another Route 66.

Seriously, you would think something like that wouldn't matter. But sometimes the little things do matter.

Because Austin is filling up with the California type and it’s not the beach blonde type. It’s the refer to me as they. Teal hair type

I guess when he pulls his name out we will know if anyone took a flyer on him. Is there any actual from his mouth reasons why he’s portalling

probably all the fall practice reports predicting he’d be all-conference coupled with the fact that he never plays.

Instead they go to TCU, OU and LSU...

All schools that have scoreboard on us.

So we really just need to recruit better ho's. Maybe start a scholarship for thots from disadvantaged homes/schools.

Reminds me of the SI article from years ago about the recruiting 'escorts'.

Or we can just build a strip club on campus. If you build it, they will come.

"It's Official"... KW2 in the portal

Think we'll miss him.  He's a talented corner that probably need more live action to get up to speed.  He'll get picked up.  But why do this now?  He has a free year to get more experience and then move on.  Guess he's reached his Herman saturation point.
