Given he's ineligible for governor again (right?), he's pretty much a political non-entity.  He's never doing anything outside of FL.

Pure speculation, but seems to me that someone slightly higher up the food chain may decide that this should be consequence enough and it will end quietly after it has sidelined him on a national level. I could see Florida electing him as a senator but that's either waiting for Rick Scott to step down or to oust the recently elected Ashley Moody.

The papers there are picking up on this a little more

The guy has the charm of chlamydia. His lack of charm is going to kill his chances on the national stage. I'm with everyone that says he's a non-factor outside of Florida.

This scandal might not bring him down, but is going to hurt his chances to do anything much after this. He will vanish and be a non-factor from now on.

These dudes lured in migrants under false pretenses, kidnapped them, bussed them up the coast, and dropped them somewhere that they were completely unfamiliar with. Then openly bragged about it.

Let's not pretend a little fraud and embezzlement is going to have any object permanence here.

Behind…drugs? Meth? Wait, is meth included within “drugs,” for Florida economic purposes? And I’m guessing the other time in the top 3 is low-rent strippers?

Vacation time share related scams and fraud have to be up there

Between bad timing, zero personality and now his obsession of getting his wife to become governor, I see DeSantis fading from the spotlight. Assuming his wife doesn't become governor. DeSantis is similar to Ted Cruz in that he can find a constituency in a red state that will accept him if he's their main choice but he has little opportunity to win when independent votes are needed.

Besides DeSantis has set some awful FL policies in motion. In 2028, FL should be much worse off than they are today. He will be a national laughingstock by then, even more than he is today.

Given the number of Florida applicants I was noting in a recent conversation about some open positions, the state is having a bit of a brain drain problem as a result.

Think of all of the problems that DeSantis has created, made worse or failed to address:

  • NASA is on the verge of becoming an agency who's sole job will be to power wash the launchpad once Elon and Jeff's rockets blast off.
  • Disney is quieting leaving FL, as much as they can. They're not closing WDW and never will.
  • Home insurance is bankrupting home owners in FL. Condo owners are faring worse because of that one tower collapse.
  • Increasing red tides, due to agriculture run off and climate change, are ruining coastal waters
  • Finally Trump's mistreatment of the world will greatly harm florida's tourism

And this is just what I know. You could also add Florida citizen's teeth to the mix since he just signed off in banning fluoride addition to the water system. Local communities won't be able to make that decision for themselves.

Also...I'm not the only one who surmises this, right?  That being....that Casey does not appropriately groom certain nether regions?

I'm not the only one who sees it, right?

Ron and Casey are loathsome people, who have nothing but contempt for the people they purportedly serve, and they seek only personal aggrandizement and enrichment.  In short, they are perfect 2025-era Republicans.

Nah, he will end up on OAN or Newsmax.  The best thing, however, is this is going to drag down his wife, who may be a total cunt.

So they're looking to move to (checks notes) Texas?  Anyone going from FL to TX or vice versa is not among the "best and brightest".

Oh, that reminds me.  A decision that just came down from the 5th Circuit, considering nearly the exact same legal issues.  Spoiler: when the kid is from a country/has a parent from a country that the current Regime hates....well, it's just fine so ship him back.  Amazing how the "principles" of the conservative movement aren't principles at all:

Brito Guevara v. Francisco Castro No. 24-10520

https://www.ca5.uscourts.gov/opinions/pub/24/24-10520-CV0.pdf

Oral Argument Audio: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qIY57lB5Eyg

Before RICHMAN, WILLETT, and DOUGLAS, Circuit Judges.

REVERSED and REMANDED. (June 2, 2025).

Judge DOUGLAS dissented.

When A.F. was five years old, her mother, Samantha Estefania Francisco Castro, removed her from the lawful custody of her father, Jose Leonardo Brito Guevara, in Venezuela and then illegally immigrated with A.F. to the United States. Brito petitioned for A.F.’s return under the Hague Convention on Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction. The District Court denied the petition, finding that although Brito had established a prima facie case of wrongful removal, A.F. was now well-settled in Texas. Brito appealed. A panel majority of the Fifth Circuit is not persuaded that A.F. had formed such deep or enduring ties to her new environment that returning to her home in Venezuela would contravene her best interests. Explaining that making this decision is neither easy nor without sorrow, the majority reasons that A.F.'s young age, the instability of her residence and her mother's employment, and the uncertain immigration status of both A.F. and her mother weigh against a finding that A.F. was well-settled in the United States. Emphasizing that its ruling accords with the Hague Convention's core objective, namely to restore the pre-abduction status quo and deter parents from seeking more favorable Courts across borders, the Fifth Circuit reverses the District Court's decision, renders judgment in favor of Brito, and remands the case to the District Court with instructions that it enter an order directing A.F.'s return to Venezuela. A dissenting Judge charges the majority opinion with reweighing evidence and failing to provide proper deference to the District Court’s findings. The dissenting opinion emphasizes that A.F. has formed significant connections in Texas and that the District Court’s findings on her well-settled status were not clearly erroneous.

For the record, I believe this is likely the correct decision under the law.  Just like I thought the court decisions to return Elian Gonzalez were correct under the law.  Because I - unlike any MAGAts - actually believe in the Rule of Law, and its objective application to the facts.

MAGAts, on the other hand, are entirely outcome-based, with zero guiding principles and no adherence to the Rule of Law.
