there's so much to unpack from today, so i'll just start listing them. tuesday was devastating for oakland, today was twice as devastating for the yankees.  they had just started to play better.

The boy and I were at the last ALCS clincher - we were walking on air for days after Altuve’s walkoff. Today, the boy is 5,000 miles and 7 hours away, with no way to watch. So we did a video chat, w

Lmao. It’s comical at this point. We’ll be lucky to win one game this series. I think Dusty is a lousy manager and I can’t wait til he’s gone next year.

That aged well

He’s gone from great at bats to clueless

He's hitting shots all over the yard. Long flies, doubles that are almost homers, and homers. That was a bad at bat but in a couple of recent instances he just missed clearing the bases, He is tied for seventh in RBI and has fewer ABs than all but one of those ahead of him. Yeah, he sucks.

What’s the plan for Marwin? I assume he’ll give some guys a few days off and be a clutch bat off the bench in the playoffs.

It will be an uphill battle to make the playoff roster.

Did Kalas just say our lineup is thicc?

I think mentor vet, kind of like Beltran in 17

I feel bad for the guy. His career could have been much better had he stayed an Astro.

Is Graveman sick?

Dusty saving him for the 10th after we blow a lead.

If he ever is on the roster, something bad has happened.

We're playing a Triple A team, our AAAA guys should be able to get them out without wasting Gravely.

That is one ugly ass stadium

holy shit Correa

Lulz, that post was for the almost out at 1st but it works for the game ending dp too

I didn’t think he actually got him but maybe he did. No way you can overturn this.

where the Dusty haters right now? any Dusty moves that didn't turn out perfectly as planned?

who gets credit for this win? Just asking for the next time we all crybitch about bullpen usage or days off...

Marwin will get some AAA PA's, but he will be likely be on the playoff roster. No need to carry 13 pitchers as you don't need 5 starters.

Unless he is added to the 40 man roster before September 1, the only way he can be on the playoff roster is by replacing an injured player. Here is the exact rule:

Quote

A player who doesn't meet said criteria for postseason eligibility can still be added to a team's roster in the postseason via petition to the Commissioner's Office if the player was in the organization on Aug. 31 and is replacing someone who is on the injured list and has served the minimum amount of time required for activation. (For example, a player on the 10-day injured list who has been on it for at least 10 days, or a player who has been on the 60-day injured list for at least 60 days.) Players who are acquired in September or after are ineligible.

There is always an injured player to replace. That rule has zero teeth. Phil Matin sorry about your sore arm. Odo- sorry about hat thing you have going on with your groin. Rest up and get better for next year.

marwin, like real insurance, is something that’s smart to have, but you hope you never need to use it.

A no-cost move for a MLB veteran utility guy with postseason experience signed to a minor league deal is impossible to criticize. It's a no-brainer move by Click, and Marwin likely isn't going to be a difference-maker but I would rather have him than Jacob Wilson fer sure. I *maybe* prefer him a little bit over Robel Garcia but that's only because of his postseason experience and familiarity with the veterans on this team. If they eventually elevate him to the active roster, I'm cool with DFA'ing Jacob Wilson for his 40 man spot.

Any warm body is better than Wilson or Garcia.  Low risk lightning in a bottle move.

Good job KC. Another grand slam last night from Salvador Perez and they beat the M's in 12 innings. A's lost their sixth straight.

Astros 6 1/2 gm division lead is the largest lead of the season.

So is Meyers our everyday CF when Chas comes back? I don’t see any reason he shouldn’t be. Chas’s defense and base running are both suspect and I already have more confidence in Meyers in both.

We have arrived. Ready to cheer on the fully operational death star. 20210828_153702.jpg

Very gruntled.

ETA:  IMO this is the Game 1 lineup for any playoff series.  Maybe Game 2 if you want to flip lineups a lot on the other side.
