My concern is Garcia trending in the wrong direction.  Giving up more runs and HRs as the season progresses. Did he hit a wall?

No he just needs more  experience. He gave up a couple of singles that inning but two big Ks as well. He just can't give up a long ball in that situation to make it a two-run game.

Shoutout to the bullpen for doing this before the trade deadline, at least.

Yeah the question is does Click think this will be "fixed" by James and Baez, or is he actually going to go get someone.

He does not and has said as much

Tough loss but really?

night shift work different.

in all seriousness, last night is on garcia. staked with a touchdown lead, pretty much flawless thru 3, he couldn’t make it thru the 5th. and sea is a shit offense.

but yeah, whomever we trade for better pound the zone.

Hard to disagree. Even in the 5th inning Garcia made some really great pitches to get Bauers and Haniger to strike out, and the single to Crawford was a check swing weak hit through the left side of the infield that beat the shift. He gave up a single to Shed Long to start that inning, then just needed to get Seager out. He got up on Seager 0-2 with some dirty changeups, then on 1-2 Maldy called fastball up at the top of the zone and Garcia put it right down the fuckin middle in the heart of the plate. Seager did not miss.

Ken Davidoff of the New York Post reports that the Mets' agreement with 10th overall pick Kumar Rocker is in limbo due to concerns about his pitching elbow.

Uh oh. The Mets had an agreement in place for $6 million prior to the physical and apparently something popped up during the exam. For what it's worth, Davidoff says Rocker's camp "disagrees with the concerns." The Mets face a 5 p.m. ET signing deadline on Sunday, so the question now is whether an amended deal can be reached. If the two sides fail to reach an agreement, Rocker could return to Vanderbilt to prove his health while the Mets would receive a makeup pick (11th overall) in the first round next year. Quite a turn from what was expected to be a relatively easy process.

so oddly familiar.

Good, sounds like more moves are coming.

One of the best relievers for the worst?  I think we win this trade.

In the short term it's unquestionable. The only possible negative is Toro developing into an All-Star caliber player in our division with four years of club control. Of course, if Graveman helps the Astros win the World Series, it will all be well worth it.

Is there anything you’ve seen from Toro that makes you think that’s possible? We’ve had quite a sample to judge. Even if we lose Correa and move Bregman to SS, there’s no way we would’ve been content with Toro at 3B going into 2022.

In light of this trade, how much would you be willing to give up for Kimbrel?

I'm good with Presley as our closer. He's been solid. Need more set up and middle relievers. I'd love to get Kimbrel, but wouldn't give too much.

Looking at Montero's snapshot on Baseball Savant, I think there's a lot there for Strom to work with. He's in the top quarter of pitchers for hard hit % and top twelve % for exit velos. He doesn't get a lot of strikeouts but hitters don't barrel him up much either. He has excellent velocity on his fastball and has a high chase rate. His xERA is 3.73 vs 7.27 actual.
