This is a very flawed team, that lost in a semifinal. We have no RB we can play that weighs over 200#, because of crazy injury luck. Our QB is small and has poor pocket presence, and got hurt mid season and never really recovered.

We have one WR that could get snaps at tOSU. Our kicker got worse from last year. This was a very good year and Sark did a very good job of navigating it.

I'm sorry, I was told this was the greatest team ever assembled at Texas and Steve Sarkisian blew it because he's an idiot.

Actually should have run Ewers. Get in gun, run the zone read look, yet call a Ewers keeper. EVERY defense expects the handoff on that look because it always happens. The ends crash hard on the snap. That was the time to break the tendency and get the game tied late.

I thought Sark called a great game, but he messed up the end of that drive. I also still don't understand why he didn't establish more of a goal line OL package during the season where Nero comes in at LG, Hutson at C, and we just run power with the jumbo extra lineman package. That's the best run blocking OL we have, and if that has been tried and established all season it could have been used more.

He didn’t. He justified it by some bullshit if you block it perfectly blah blah blah

That probably pisses me off more than the play call. Sark thinks that play didn't work because we didn't block it perfectly? I don't think it was possible to block that play "perfectly" given OSU crashing down. We had a pulling guard that had to somehow try to block 2 free defenders.

He just needs to own the shitty play call.

This was a very good team, with significant flaws. There really isn’t a great team- the NC will be either won by a team that lost at home to a 6-5 rival or a team that lost at home to NIU. This team overcame some issues and not others.

I’ll probably get torched for this post (bad timing for that comment) but you guys had a great season.  No, it didn’t end with a national championship, but that only lands on one of 133 teams.  You were one of the very best.  Be pissed you lost.  I get that.  But be proud that you got to the semis.  That’s hard to do.  Very hard.  And you guys are set up for long term success.  I wish we had 1/4 of the resources you have.  You may very well be here next year.  That’s something most of us only dream of.  You are positioned to do it.

Nah.  You hit the nail on the head.   Good luck to UCLA next year.

Name a game this year where the expectations were realistic.  Every team has warts.  Every coach has bad play calls.  Three years ago Jake Majors was getting driven into the backfield.  Hayden Conner is unable to bend his knees.  Our QB runs a wind aided 5.0 40.

Guess what play Chip Kelly called on 4th and 2 earlier in the game?   A toss sweep to Judkins that got blown up for a loss.

Fine. Who do you want to be the head football coach at the University of Texas?

Steve Sarkisian. I just don't want him as an offensive coordinator.

I’m not going to join the circle jerk and say it was a bad call. It’s a great call if Ohio st believes you’re running up the middle. They just read it and made the stop.

he was probably thinking about arch almost getting that first down when he ran to the right when Ohio State thought we were going at the middle

I mean….are you upset at the truth? A lot of people picked aggy to win that game. People on this sub were ready to blow Elko in the back of a Chevy after the LSU win. So you asked the question and got ur answer

Man, we went from wandering the desert to the most entitled fans in college football again in record time.

Well done.

The parallels with Ohio State and Ryan Day are actually pretty similar.

Both Sark and Day have flaws but only idiots would want them fired or think they're bad coaches. When you keep getting close and stacking talent it's just a matter of time until you break through.

The Texas offense mostly slogged through that and only blew it open with Wisner creasing OU a couple times.

Watching the elite Texas defense just bludgeon the OU offense was beautiful though.

Hiring Chip Kelly is what had made the "break through" for Day thus far. He did still lose to Michigan though.

To his credit Sark did make some halftime adjustments and got the ball out of Ewers hands much quicker. Lot of quick throws to receivers and hoping they made plays one on one vs their defenders. More often than not they did and got decent yardage on first or second down. We’d be singing a much different tune about Sark if he had handled the goal line offense better. Unfortunately he didn’t and opens himself to a shit ton of criticism. Hopefully he’ll learn from this.

Yep. I have my qualms with Sark but if you're consistently putting a top 5 type team out there, which he has for two straight years, at some point it probably breaks for you on pure chance if nothing else.

His recovery history from alcoholism is his biggest problem. He’s too lenient and forgiving when it comes to second chances because of how he got his second chance. Some shit he lets fly doesn’t cut it if you want to win titles.

It was a genuinely well coached game from Texas... aside from two brutal, kick in the nuts type play calls.

Sark had some warts this year with playcalling but nothing really went right for us.

1) Major injuries at RB including our projected starter. 2) Moore and Bond were banged up for half the year at WR. 3) Our tackles were far from healthy to end the season. 4) Ewers was injured early in the year and played like a guy afraid to get hit in the 2nd half of the season.

Outside of Williams, did we even have another injury on defense?

HCs are and always will be, like QBs judged by their successes or failures in the biggest moments. Ask Doug Flutie.

That said it was Sarks best half time adjustments in 7 games. I guess he focused on that over the break rather than goal line game plans.

Maybe next time he'll do both.

What do you consider realistic expectations?  This is year 4 of sark right?   Hey we’re in the final four two years in a row. But honestly, other than Bama, where had he over exceeded our expectations?  And even the Bama game, Milroe was just getting started.  Let’s hope he doesn’t fuck Arch up

Mack Brown and Bob Stoops agree with you.

Saban and Meyer think you're hilarious.

Is this an attack on PK?  Sark hired PK. You don’t have to denigrate our D to give sark his flowers

Huh?

I'm saying sometimes there's luck involved. A big reason our D was dominant is because we didn't have many major injuries. A big reason our offense was probably only a top 20ish offense instead of a top 10 offense was because of injuries.

Sometimes shit doesn't go your way with injuries.

Michigan was ranked in the top ten at the time.  That was a fox game. Joel klatt had to sell the game but even he knew a blowout was coming.

asu was garbage.  Clemson snuck in.  Aggy had a young qb.  Ou had a young qb and no receivers.  Actually first quarter, Quinn and sark kept ou in the game.  So now that I think about it, the one game where we exceeded expectations was CSU

He got hurt on his one play. I couldn’t believe the broadcast didn’t even bring it up. I’m assuming concussion because the training staff took away his helmet.
