I’m not being ornery here… your point is whooshing past me. Please explain. Thanks

Mack created a Texas state championship out of thin air during his tenure and talked about winning it multiple times. It was along the lines of 10 win seasons being some trophy worthy accomplishment.

I think Sark approached the season as if we were entitled to a playoff spot and it seeped into the players mentality too.  Too much focus on pacing ourselves.  I noticed in a lot of player interviews the idea of being drafted seemed guaranteed in their mind because "x" player went pro ahead of them and they were next.  Newsflash you don't get credit for your predecessors work and need to show and prove.

Schedule feels pretty wonky this year - first game, at tOSU, 3 cupcakes at home, bye week, effectively on the road for 4 weeks in SEC play.  Not great Bob.

Zero home games in October, when was the last time that happened?  2013, I think.

I think if you aren't looking to cut dead wood or aren't always trying to upgrade you aren't looking to get better.  Saban was ruthless with coaches if they weren't performing.  always looking to upgrade.

I don’t want to ever hear again how Sark is an offensive genius elite playcaller, he should be embarrassed by this BS offense. Hire an OC dipshit.

And can we please stop any more Lanning talk. Motherfucking Fuck Dan Lanning.

Hook ‘em.

I've tried to tell people Lanning is not an upgrade. Cignetti probably is but he might be too much of a douche for UT and he's 64. Only Smart and Day would be proven upgrades, and they aren't going anywhere. It's entirely possible that there's a G5 coach out there who would kill it here, but we don't know who that is. Of the known commodities, Sark actually might be the best option.

That said, I still want a real OC, and don't think we'll ever win anything without one.

No negative criticisms from me. Texas beat the fuck out of OU and limited mistakes. Great fucking win.

This board is so ready to turn on Sarkisian, and probably anyone else we hire.  But probably especially Sark because he doesn't quite have the skins on the wall.

That said, in the Sabanesque quest for improvement, some things need to change.

THIS is who Steve Sarkisian is.

I wish he would prove it against someone not named Oklahoma. Don't get me wrong, I love beating those dipshits. But, he seems to have a hard time against good defenses otherwise. I told my old man that he has Vegetable's number and he does. But, idk man. Clemson last year and Alabama the year before were the outliers not the truth so far.

Well, I think our OL has been a bit less than championship caliber, obviously this year, somewhat less obviously last year.  With that problem haunting us, I think it's hard to evaluate the offense otherwise.

I hope you're right. I'll gladly eat crow if he goes on to beat Georgia, etc. But, idk. For now lets celebrate the morons up north eating a dinner of longhorn shit.

The good coaches still find a way to squeeze every ounce out of what they have even if a unit or two are screwed up. You can’t go back in time and redo offseason mistakes but you can maximize what you have and scheme around weaknesses. That is why you are paid $10 million. To be a problem solver.

Interested to see how the rest of this year shakes out.

Even in the 1st quarter, I was watching the game thinking, "We are playing better right now. Might not win, but we are playing better." Not just on defense, but OL, running game, etc.

I think at some point between the first quarter and the second half, it finally started to click for the OL. We started gaining rushing yards...without holding penalties! Arch finally had time to survey the field.

It may have taken a sec, but it seemed we did that today.  Slow on what appears to be the OL bandaid in Brooks, but it let Arch take a step forward and the play calling mostly worked.

I think Sark has been slow to recognize the need to and advantage of really stacking 5 stars with good evals and going back to the well again in the portal.

When he got here, we had probably aggregate 4+ star talent and I don't think he could believe the difference between us and Alabama, talent wise.  He thought he fixed it with some big classes, but we still haven't been stacking the talent for years like Alabama and UGa.

Still, though, that's one read and we don't know to what extent Arch and the OL's limitations force those.

Lol, get out of here.  “Oh I really wish he would prove it against good defenses except don’t account the times he did in fact prove it.  You see those were outliers but let’s not consider UGA or tOSU outliers”.   Your biggest criticism of Sark is that he can’t beat Georgia or Ohio State.  So unless you’ve got a coach lined up to take this job that is going to get over that hump, then enjoy the win and give the man his credit.  ou is a damn good defense, likely top 5 in the country.  We have had issues all year with a young OL.  Today we we punched ou and kept punching and punching till they wore out.  I’m pissed we didn’t go into the portal in the offseason but Sark isn’t a moron.  Let’s allow him to coach this team.

Some idiots were clamoring for Kiffin and Lanning all week.  Idiots.

I wasn't clamoring for anyone. I was saying he is what 3-9 against top 10 teams. That isn't good. I'm extremely happy with the win. And hope we can keep this effort up.

Don't get it twisted. I'm happy with Sark at times, but he has some very questionable tendencies.

Ofcourse.  4 of those 9 losses were against uga and Ohio state.  And then of those 9, how many were in year 1 and 2 when he took over an absolute abortion of a roster left by Herman?   I think there are only 2-3 active coaches that have an above .500 record against top 10 opponents.  Those are Dabo, Smart, and Day if I remember.  So unless one of them is coming here, you’ll still be displeased with the other 100+ coaches that also have a sub .500 record against top 10 opponents.

I personally want Sark here.  I don’t expect him to take us to the playoffs every year.  But I do expect him to make a deep run every 2-3 years. He’s already proven that.  He’s beaten our rivals more times than not, many in embarrassing ways.  The guy is a fucking Bert Auburn missed FG away from having two conference championships.  Recruiting is better than it ever has been.  Roster is loaded with young talent.

Now, I am also very frustrated like yourself about him not addressing the issues that this team had and still has.  He got us out of the OL black hole we were trapped in for 15+ years.  Let’s give the man a chance to do it again.  Looks like Nick Brooks improved a ton in 1 week.  Let’s see if these guys can gel.  If so, everything is still in front of us. Hook ‘em man.  Sorry, just feel good about this win after all the constant negativity.

Call me a wet blanket but I’d like for our offense to score more than one TD instead of relying on special teams for the majority of our points.

Still happy the team got the W, beggars can’t be choosers after the past few weeks.

You're a wet blanket.

OU has arguably the best defense we'll face all year. And what we saw today, even in the first quarter, was significant improvement across the board.

I’m tired of hearing that. At first, it was the Texas defense is the best they’ll see. Then, OSU. Now OU.

OU statistically WAS the best D in the nation going into this game.

People want to see Sarkisian prove that he can correct his shortcomings. They were much better in the second half today, but still sputtered along a lot. At least I saw positives. Made me feel better about this team.

Steve Sarkisian, congratulations you beat OU.Now get back to work. Grind. Celebrate at seasons end.

Stay in your staff’s asses! I mean get all up in there, fuck that CEO Mack Brown BS.

Make the changes that need to be made. Stop dicking around. Never again say you evaluate the staff at the end of the season.
