Easily the most effective half time adjustments we’ve seen from Sark. First time he’s shown the willingness to make so real changes. Great time to do it.

What real changes did we make between the first half and the second half?

I'm here for the Sark hate, but this was absolutely the best coaching he's done this year and among his best at Texas. He, of course, still had to put a play action in inside the 5 yard line but otherwise he made the game easier on Arch and threw out a lot of the 18 step drops. Multiple talking heads also recognized the game plan adjustments, not just in the second half but in the broader strokes.

I was very pleased, and it's been said a lot, but Wisner is awesome.

I hope the game plan continues in the direction of aligning to the abilities and talent on the team like it did in this one.

Rolled the pocket more, altered running lane choices, quicker flat and cross route throws. Fewer OL stunts and more down blocking.

This.

especially limiting asking the OL to reach on pull blocks. Just more 1-1 blocks.

it really helped though that the team seemed VASTLY more disciplined this week. I need to look at the stats, but it sure seemed like for once we had less penalties than our opponent.

We absolutely were more disciplined. While we had a couple of painful penalties we only had 4 vs ou's 5. Prior we were averaging over 10 per GAME, iirc. Imo, this is a factor of both the less complex blocking scheme, quicker throws and moving the pocket in addition to just playing better and pulling their heads out of their assess. We beat them in every single key offensive stat, and as much as we love to shit on OU and Venables their defense is actually pretty good.

For all these reasons I really do think this was among Sark's best game plan and game adjustments he's made during his tenure. It provides me some cautious optimism because we've sadly seen him go right back to what wasn't working despite all evidence he shouldn't.

Sark owns Skeletor at 3-1.

We gotta hope 0u keeps Venables and Arbuckle around for awhile. Their game plan sucked today. Sooners totally abandoned the run and counted on an injured Mateer to play hero ball.

Fewer straight drop backs, simpler blocking assignments up front.

Good analysis. This was his best game plan this season and Arch was able to execute much of what Sark needed. Very complimentary football. Ofcourse we benefitted from the fact that Venables is like a Manchurian Horn and Mateer most likely would have played much better had he not just had hand surgery. Those INTs he threw were death nails. He may not be the best QB but I think we all agree Mateer would have played better than that if not for the hand surgery. Lots to like about this game and to have hope for the future and we know Sark is cognizant we have to win out to have a chance. I just wish we wouldn’t dig holes for ourselves and leave our future out of our hands at times.

I am cautiously optimistic with just expectations for the game in front of us. Penalties continue to kick us in the ass and many of our future opponents will capitalize on them. This game is what we hired Sark to do. Analyze what an opponent’s defense is giving him and pick them apart. Because Arch is on a learning curve I think the loss at Florida literally a fire under Sark. There isn’t a whole lot of room for error. So maybe this brings out the best in Sark too. I hope anyway.

Faint praise?

I and others said it was Sarks best game of the year and I said maybe of his tenure at Texas.

You want me to offer to suck Sark's cock? The fuck you want me to say?

You do realize this is a Longhorn board right?

I'm celebrating a good fucking coaching job. Haven't had a lot of opportunity to do so this year. Let me party how I want you control freak.

Not really.  One guy talking about release times (hint until yesterday sark and or arch were going deep all the time), but that’s about it.

in THIS THREAD, Posters are pointing out his best coaching performance of the year, best halftime adjustments maybe ever at Texas, most disciplined game of the season, the fact that we fucking SMOKED OU.

Going to very slightly disagree. I sadly feel compelled to side with the talking heads on Mateer as it relates to this game. While I do agree that no hand injury at all certainly alters the dynamics of this game. However, as several of the talking heads suggested and evidence supports Mateer's issues were far more mental than physical yesterday. He was making some bad choices, going into triple coverages and missing some open WRs. The pressure from Texas D certainly helped exacerbate his mental aspects but ultimately his collapse was far more mental than physical.

Speaking to general sentiment, from glancing over posts. I’m sure there are those who were effusive in praise and those who were completely dismissive of it

Relax spectrum buddy, the post was a read on general sentiment today juxtaposed with the same time last week. If you had similar energy, then congrats on staying consistent

Uh Huh Yes GIF

that’s why you you were super specific in stating “faint praise after beating a 5/6 team”.

Not sure if I am ready to declare the monkey is officially off of Jeff Banks’ back!

It seems like every year we get one or two great special teams plays surrounded by mostly shit. I’m still out on Banks overall.

I wonder how much of the run game blocking was specific to OU or if it’s a potential change moving forward.

talking to piggy rowe while wearing the gold hat, sark took a dig at "all the unbelievers"

welp, he fucking gave us a reason to do it

i can't grade sark on *anything* yesterday with 2 exceptions

either sark, or flood, or both of them, which we can collectively refer to as "sark" since it's his administration....

1. he/they changed the left side of the offensive line and the results were transformational

2. at the end of the first sustained good-looking drive of the season against p4 opposition, he rewarded the offense by taking the fucking points

everything multiplied from there regardless of adjustments, plays called, mateer's wound coming open, uncalled blocks in the back on the niblett house.....

sark can have praise when he keeps this team pissed off for the next 7 weeks and we can tick off one win at a time with as cole says constant improvement, physically and mentally

our first 3 points of this game *COULD BE* the turning point of the season

we just need to see continual multiplication of goodness building on goodness

it's called 'virality'

Don't worry. All the idiots will say this wasn't a big game W for Sark if OU ends up losing 4.

Expecting the offense to have performed better to this point in season 5 under Sark is not unreasonable. The way that Flood and Sark have mismanaged the OL should piss you off.

Remember how Sark was supposedly unable to win games where he was down at the half?

Remember how Sark was supposedly at fault for us not being able to score in the 3rd quarter?

It’s not we had quite a few miscues. Balls continuing to hit turf and roll for lost yardage, penalty, and kick out of bounds. Absolutely no reason to not have dedicated ST coach.

Supposedly? He is the head coach. Every amount of success goes to him when his team wins and the criticism of his team looking like shit( not yesterday) in the third starts with him.

Rimbo is an idiot. Sark is 3-8 now against top 10 teams and like 3-9 when losing at half. Beating top 10 teams and coming back from being down at half needs to be a more consistent feat if you want to win a national championship (hence teams that win national championships do those things).

Forde predicting Sitake to UCLA then byu calls on Sark to come home if our season keeps going souf

Oh shiitake mushrooms man. Is what BYU is thinking. This coaching carousel is gonna be something regardless.

since I have zero influence power or any control:

1. Sitake to UCLA.
2. UCLA also hires a freshly fired Miami Dolphins HC to be OC

3. Oregon State goes for Jason Eck (this is such a good hire to me)

4. cig says no to Penn State and they decide to roll with Kiffin who will energize the offense and make Addidas shoes look cool.
5. Florida fucks around too long and somehow winds up with Kyle Shanahan.
6. Oklahoma State nabs the GJ Kinne. Maybe? 🤔 or maybe they have someone else on their wishlist.
probably only #1 happens but it doesn’t matter. The ride gonna be a lot of fun. If I were Oregon state or Oklahoma state I’d go for an NFL coordinator type coach who has some ties to the area. But that’s just me.

Sark ain’t going nowhere but if he does it’s back to the NFL to replicate or try to be better than Shanahan.
