A fraction (I think less than 20%) of the Corps member are actually in ROTC. Those people are commissioned into active duty service (i.e. actual army/navy/etc.) Not sure about the route to the NG or Reserves, but I believe to get there they have an active duty requirement first. I could be wrong.

Roughly 40% of the Corps of Cadets pursue a commission after graduation. The difference for the 20-30% of Cadets on ROTC scholarship is that they do training during the summers and have an obligation to serve upon graduation, or they are on the hook financially. To be fair, the Cadets at West Point or Air Force and Navy MIdshipmen are not active military personnel, with the exception of that prior service candidate who is pursuing a commission. My son and his buddies would joke about people at the airports thanking them for their service. They'd be like, "Thank you, but not quite yet..." Upon graduation, the commission ceremony commonly occurs that afternoon and is a big part of the weekend. Aggy serves its purpose as one of 6 Senior Military Colleges in the US. Virginia Tech, Norwich, North Georgia, VMI, and the Citadel are the others. Aggy just likes to overstate their contributions; which is majorly on-schedule for them. Virginia Tech, Norwich, North Georgia, VMI, and the Citadel are the others. Aggy just likes to overstate their contributions; which is majorly on-schedule for them. When you say 40% that is not 40% of all students who join the corps, but approximately 40% of seniors. Overall cadet Corps is around 2,300. See below for latest senior class, attrition etc. To the 165 commissioned that is great, but there were 514 who started Cosplaying as Freshman with this class not part of this 165 and 278 other seniors who Cosplayed for 4 years and decided not to seek a commission. In May 2024, Texas A&M's Corps of Cadets commissioned 165 officers into the U.S. Armed Forces, the largest class in nearly 40 years. For the Class of 2024, 443 cadets completed their four years in the Texas A&M Corps of Cadets, out of an original cohort of 679 students. This means that 65% of the cadets who began in the Class of 2024 completed their four years in the Corps.
June 17, 2025Jun 17 1 hour ago, Magus Ossis said: Correction. Academy cadets are active duty. Technically we are both correct. Academy students are subject to the UCMJ. They do receive a monthly stipend. After their first class of their Junior year, they are under financial obligation to repay the gov't for their schooling, should they not be able to fulfill their service obligation. They can receive a DD214 and would be recognized for veteran status, should they leave school early. The time they are at the academies does not count as time served, however. Their conduct is managed similarly to active duty service members, but their obligations are much different, to the point of even the Cadets joking about them. That was my bigger point.

In 2025 they're still talking about recruiting class ranking in fucking June? Like even the class rankings in December are iffy, and with the way teams hit the portal, the class rankings matter even less. On 6/14/2025 at 1:55 PM, Beau Vine said: I'll bet you a dollar that you can't guess which powerhouse program Buckyball has scheduled a daring non-conf series against... Hide contents Bucky McMillan is showing fans that he's NCAA Tournament-minded with the news that came down today of his scheduling a series against the Florida State Seminoles. Though FSU has had some rough patches, they're still a premier name that has put several big time players into the NBA over the last few years, such as Jonathan Isaac, Scottie Barnes, and Terance Mann. A perennial complaint against Buzz Williams during his time in College Station was a lack of premier non-conference games. This lessened quite a bit by Buzz's last two years, but the poor strength of schedule for the Aggies was always an albatross when it came time to compare resumes. This is a step in the right direction on that front for the Ags. This game will take place on Black Friday, according to a report by Jon Rothstein, which will no doubt put it only hours before the Aggies' football game against Texas later that day. Texas A&M basketball schedules series against Florida State Seminoles FSU finished out last year ranked 90th in the NET— so if that's where they are come next year, it should be a game that will look good as a win for the Aggies should that be the outcome, but not too terrible of a loss for a tournament team if things go the other way. Of course, that's assuming that "tournament team" is the realistic goal to which this squad is aspiring. With the way that McMillan has put the personnel together here, this could be a team that challenges for a dark-horse conference championship run. That's far off, and we still more than anything need to see how the team gels. As of right now, though, they will have an early-season spot on their schedule to impress fans, who will no doubt be waiting around for the final regular-season football game of the year. They haven't made the Tournament since 2021. Yeah but it's a big name. That's it.

June 18, 2025Jun 18 Clackity clack! Quote Texas A&M just received a commitment from four-star running back KJ Edwards, a prospect out of Carthage, Texas, despite the fact that Edwards had previously been slated to commit on August 2nd. This is an unbelievably massive move for the Aggies, as Edwards had been believed by most nationally to be a heavy lean to the Texas Longhorns up until this point. Edwards is coming off of an official visit to College Station this past weekend, one which apparently must have opened his eyes in a big way. He joins Jonathan Hatton, Jr., as the second running back commitment in the class for the Aggies, who now may boast the best one-two punch at the spot in the entire country. This is going to shock a lot of people across the country, and begin to wake them up to the potential that the Aggies have in this recruiting cycle— something that A&M fans who have been closely tracking the trail during this class have known for a while. Texas A&M seizes massive momentum with pickup of KJ Edwards over Texas, LSU, Alabama, and others The Longhorns had long had Edwards as the centerpiece of their offensive focus in the recruiting class at the running back spot, which just adds to the intrigue here. It also means that the Longhorns will by no means be going away in this recruitment, and will be pushing hard throughout the fall to flip Edwards. Because of that, the work is nowhere near done— but make no mistake, it is hard to overstate the cataclysm this is in the recruiting world. The Aggies have just made the first of what fans hope are several moves to put the nation on high alert for what is going on in College Station. This now makes the second class where Trooper Taylor has secured an elite two-back class, following 2025 where they brought in Deondrae "Tiger" Riden and Jamarion Morrow. Hats off to coach Troop— this is just as much his win as it is anyone on this staff's. Hatton's power and Edwards' speed and make-you-miss ability makes this the perfect two-back class, as well. The Aggies are just now getting rolling— it's time to get on the train.
June 18, 2025Jun 18 Not following recruiting much, but maybe we gave him the impression we were moving in another direction?
June 18, 2025Jun 18 The sooner they hop on the roller coaster the greater the fall. What do they have like 7 Heisman contenders right now?
