Twentysomethings: Austin- on Netflix

starting episode two right now. what i remember from episode one which i watched last night:

•there's no explanation for the hot black chick being really into/aggressively pursuing the nerdy, awkward white guy who has no confidence, game, or awareness. funnily enough, he's playing it perfectly so far and he doesn't even know it.

•the blonde chick from Houston appears to be nutty nuts

•both of the straight, classically handsome, ripped up dudes should do very well for themselves

•not really sure what this show is about yet, or how it's anything but a real world knockoff. still, it's keeping me entertained enough so far.

yeah, i'm officially into this show. i'm gonna need some more of y'all to get on board.

also- apparently they *just* filmed this over the last several months, and may still be filming. the second half of the season comes out on the 17th, so i assume that means that they've still been filming this whole time, or at least up until very recently.

i thought Michael's set was funnier then the people at Little Woodrow's did. the line about his suicide note was great. but got daaaammmmnnnn that was a tough crowd. just brutal.

Dude, his delivery sucked, don't blame the crowd. He needs to figure it out.

Haha, I know! Fucking Derka made me curious. These people are so brand new everything is a first but they are hot, at least.

I am letting my twentysomething niece move in for a bit. She is a traveling nurse and is getting an assignment here in Austin and she is moving here with her traveling nurse friend so I feel I need to acclimate. She isn't this vapid, thank God but she is this young.

Two twenty something nurses are moving in? That sounds like the plot to a porno. You better create a thread for this.

Fucking terrible. I cant listen to vapid dipshits in their 20s drone on about themselves in person much less on TV.

Get off my lawn.

suit yourself. this is exactly my type of trash TV, right up my alley. watching michael bungle every single interaction he has with people? The Office level cringe. watching Abbey say, "i'm not interested in a relationship" as she very aggressively pursues a relationship is so good. then seeing her melt down after Kamari took her at her word and played the field? yeah, that's my jam. that's my kind of trash TV.

Wait, why is the cute blonde pissed her friend with benefits is hooking up with other chicks? She said that is what she wanted. Young bitches are so dramatic over nothing.

abbey: "kamari, we need to talk. i need to let you know that i'm not looking for a relationship, just a hook up."

kamari: "thank god, me too. glad we're on the same page."

kamati: (meets another girl)

abbey: WHAT THE FUCK DUDE?!?

Where are they living? Looks like on the east side somewhere

Looked like some of the developments on the edge of Mueller.

But also some Bull Creek stuff.

Probably East Austin

watched the first two episodes again tonight with my mom and one of my best friends, and yeah, we all love the show. something that i really like about the show is that the producers/casting clearly made a choice to *not* go find those toxic people who permeate so many reality shows. i find all of these people to very likable and easy to root for- even Abbey with her crazy ass. i know i referred to this show as reality trash tv, but i find it to be a feel good show. the producers/casting didn't go for the insane, toxic people who usually make up 1/4 of the cast of any reality show. these people are all pretty genuine and there for each other. i like that.

Yeah but how much time are they spending in HEB?

Yeah, the curvy latina chick is super supportive of crazy Abbey and is like her bestie and their girl convos are funny. And she is also supportive of the sheltered Mexican dude who is living his gay life out loud for the first time. His new squeeze Oscar is hot as fuck. I am wondering if Oscar just hooked up because he gets on some episodes or something. He is a hot papi tamale and is too cute for the gay baby by a country mile. But yes, I find them to be kind to each other over all.

First Raquel is into Michael, then he goes on a date with Isha. For a guy who is afraid to kiss a girl, constantly talks about failures and trashes his room like a toddler, he's getting a lot of attention from the women. I don't understand it.

I'm figuring either the show is mandating the "interest in him" and "date" or his last name is Bezos.

Wait - are you insinuating that the interactions on a reality TV show might not actually be organic?

fun fact.

The first in person podcast @RGBIII and I filmed was in the guys house. RGBIII and his sales team all stayed there, I went home in an uber for the night.

We recorded on that balcony that the nerdy guy always talks to the indian chick on.

Can confirm. The show is insufferable but the house is baller as shit. They got rid of the long ass table we played beer pong on though

I started watching it last night, and this is my exact takeaway. Like Real World except without the terrible people…I actually like all of them.

Yeah, I’ve been binging this show.  I grew up watching the early real world seasons back in the 90s.  This reminds me of it and I get to vicariously enjoy the Austin social scene that I miss from college.

Kamari is pulling mad sluts.  I think the Michael guy is hilarious.  Dude has no idea what to do with girls.  I thought it was hilarious when he brought the 51 year old on a date and then brought her to meet the roommate lmao.

The chicks are boring.

Abbey is insufferable. Rest of the cast seem like a mix of coddled naive children and normal people.

No one who is clearly successful, Bruce would have been that success story but he fucking bailed as soon as he got the job he wanted which was super strange.

Abbey is hilarious. Everything she says/convinced herself is true is actually the opposite of the truth. total train wreck.

I’d imagine he was out when he found out what you make to man the Home Run Dugout at Express games.

Dad's insurance biz didn't seem so bad after all after that.

I lol'd with my wife during one of the early episodes when he was talking about wanting to get into professional sports so he moved to Austin... a city with an MLS team, a G League team and a Triple A affiliate. Not exactly a hotbed of professional sports.
