So are Dest and McKennie out for the final?

Yeah. We’re the only one that pay the real price.

Just whistle the game at 90 and be done.

We also never had Balogun under Berhalter.

He probably would keep him on the bench.

Mexico’s talent pool is laughably bad right now.

And this is their biggest issue. For all we want to talk about the results, I don’t see an improvement for them in the near future. They haven’t developed much young talent because their federation has too much of the clubs getting their older stars on the NT.

it's pretty straightforward....  the fed calls a press conference tomorrow and announces we will only play mexico with a mixed UEFA Champions League referee crew

anything less and we deserve shit like this which is entirely in our control to stop

and there's the puto again

in pride month

classy

full aggy

I mean, maybe. One of our biggest issues last cycle was not having a solid 9. Balogun would have made Gerg look a lot better.

Outside of the Reyna shit he's rarely been terrible with lineups. It's mainly a lack of tactics and in game adjustments that fuck us.

I don't like Gerg but I'd like his lackeys being in charge of the program even less. Let's be honest.

Part of being a professional athlete--part of being an adult--is learning to lose with class, i.e., behaving your best even when things are at their worst.

It is something El Tri has never learned. They are too small in stature and character to accept defeat with dignity, especially if it comes at the feet of the USMNT. They tell themselves they are being tough, but in reality, they are just acting like spoiled children being told "No!" for the first time.

Since you were so critical of our setup and tactics, would Balogun make a difference under Gregg? I mean we didn’t have a strategy to play to a 9 and it really showed. You literally were saying this going into the WC and our discussions of who should be our 9.

Do you have Alzheimer's? This is a terrible assertion and you should feel bad.

Remember Honduras? Obviously not, but geez, Gergg's roster and lineup management are possibly his greatest deficiency. Dude has repeatedly omitted more talented players from his lineups because he wanted to play his pets instead. Or he went with experimental, never-before-deployed formations/lineups IN AN AWAY QUALIFIER, only to revert to the ol' tried-and-true because the team trailed 1-0 at the half.

fucking joke

we can't join conmebol or uefa

we're stuck with these fuckers and because all of the corporate money that supports fifa is based here, the pathetic record of our federation through multiple leadership regimes is inexplicable

tri should lose their co-hosting role for 26 as punishment for tonight

puto

lasers

aggro

bitchassedness

they need real punishment

I'm sure I was critical of a lot of things. What I remember for certain is that I repeatedly made the point that our lack of a good 9 and our shitty depth along the back 4 was as big of an issue as the coaching. I still stand by that, and in standing by that, yes, I think having someone as good as Balogun up front would have changed our attack in a very material way.

Some of the runs he was making next to Weah tonight were straight football porn. And at the same time he was freeing CP along the other wing. That first run that CP made by himself where he chipped it over the bar Balogun was wide open in perfect position to his right.

If you want to tell me "well Pepi scored tonight too" Pepi is in much, much better form right now than he was leading up to Qatar. Shit like that happens with young players. We basically had 0 in form 9s last window and now we have 2.

Both Pulisic goals, Balogun was in perfect position to score too. If Pulisic made the pass on the first goal or a deflection came off Ochoa, Balogun scores. If Weah cuts the ball back a little more instead of getting it across goal, Balogun scores. Definitely encouraging that he's in all the right spots even if he didn't get a chance to even get a shot this game.

I'm not talking about formations I'm talking about who he puts on the pitch to start the game.

And 90% of y'all are going to hate on him no matter the situation so I'm not going to spend a ton of time splitting hairs here. He's the manager. Sucks to suck. He isn't going to keep not playing Reyna and he isn't going to not play Balogun.

I'm going to enjoy the fact that we just kicked the absolute dogshit out of El Tri in our first meaningful game since Qatar. Y'all can knock yourselves out with the Gerg shit it isn't going to change anything.

I’ll go find your post where you literally said our 9 didn’t matter because our scheme wasn’t going to result in them producing.

one other thing - Reyna at the 6 - looks awesome and something Berhalter never did. His shit system kept him on the wing and we never had our best players on the field at the same time.

I never said that but knock yourself out. I remember making the point that it didn't matter who we called up because none of them were worth a shit. In fact I'm pretty sure I argued against someone saying what you're saying that I said. About how we could have Haaland or some such and it wouldn't matter because we wouldn't be able to get them the ball.

I think your attributing someone else's takes to me.

Think Tim Robinson GIF by NETFLIX

That’s tongue and cheek partly because I love that gif.   But I have no confidence Greg isn’t going to outsmart himself.  Pepi isn’t a fan either.  It’s such a tone deaf move by the Federation.

I pulled up ESPN here in Mexico and hit translate.   It was awesome…. Some highlights:

“Mexican ineffectiveness is a suicidal invitation for the adversary. And the United States wastes the 23rd. Christian Pulisic in the box, taking out his lapdog Edson Álvarez, but on the final shot, he sends it over.”

At 90 seconds into the second half, Mexico is violated again. Jesús Gallardo only sees Tim Weah's catalytic converter, who goes deep, after a play orchestrated from his field. Pulisic appears again in the center, with guards that are more distracted, coarser, more goofy and slow in head and foot. 2-0.”

”Mexico remained in the same line of shipwreck. The players tried to do individual feats, but without being trained for it. The United States felt more comfortable than ever in history against a Mexican team, to the point that they even seemed to feel sorry for them.”

Best night ever was after Korea 2002 and the 2-0 win. The main Mexico paper’s website had NATIONAL TRAGEDY as the headline.

i have that entire week on vhs including the letterman appearance where mathis punts the ball on to the roof across the street

the best was the crying tri fan: "they treat us like rats and idiots"
