Nearly twice the size of the White House.  Fucking idiots.

They have no problem spending god knows how much of our money unnecessarily but can't provide needed assistance for the American people in need.

Where does he write anymore?

I stood next to him at DCA a couple of months ago.  He's old as fuck.

The Arc D' Trump he wants to do is in a traffic circle just across the Potomac from the Lincoln Memorial at the end of the Memorial Bridge.

aerial-view-of-arlington-bridge-hero-204

In all fairness, the Obama Administration briefly considered an Arc over Independence Avenue for Eisenhower, instead of the hideous Frank Geary design they settled on, but it was tasteful and appropriate.  I'm sure Trump is going to build some giant fucking eyesore, which btw, is one of the entrances to Arlington National Cemetary.

I don't want to have to go through / around anything to do with that whenever I go to visit my Dad's headstone or maybe put a wreath there.

SCoTUS gave Biden unfettered ability to do just that...

That pussy Garland probably convinced Joe not to do it.

I wonder how much that asshole reflects on his culpability for the current state of affairs.

In theory, it shouldn't fuck anything up if they just put up a rando arc in the middle of the traffic circle. People will just drive around it as they do now.

But knowing that asshole, he'll pave over part of the Arlington National Cemetary and put in a traffic lights and a special moving walkway so people can go see it.

Contractors and architects have a love-hate relationship.

In this case, I hope the architect drops dead.

And the contractor that is building the damn thing? I hope we are banned from working on anything Federal for the next 20 years until the stench goes away.

Founders expected any president using it for mafia, gangster bribery shit would be immediately impeached and removed by the congress. Or else the people would obviously vote out such corrupt leaders.

The founders didnt see an instantaneous global network communication system so vast and powerful that the country could be turned into a hive mind programmed to worship the corrupt, incompetence  president as a god-king.

This.

The founders built in a fail-safe: impeachment.  They just couldn't imagine that the failsafe would fail so miserably.  Nobody asked the question of "okay....but hear me out....what if the Senate is made up of craven, corrupt cowards who are actually aligned with the criminal who get elected president?"

This disaster is like any and all failure analyses, in that it goes back to the beginning and nobody asking the crucial "okay...but what if...?"

I'd argue the Judicial has been doing the yeoman's work of keeping it together.  But SCOTUS on its own has scuttled a lot of that.

The Legislative is the real failure here.  At least the failing Roman Senate had their Ides of March moment in the face of tyranny.  We just have craven old men.

The failsafe for a corrupt congress was the people voting them out. There was no way to conceive of the power of the internet before the 1990s. Just a glaring example of how the antiquated US constitution isnt equipped to handle modern life. It needs to be overhauled and adapted.

We're seeing this globally. The UK is destroying itself in much the same fashion we are. Many European countries are seeing a rise in extremism their governments are struggling to handle.

Globally the systems we've cultivated over centuries became obsolete in less than a decade and now are buckling under the weight of an uncontrolled global propaganda system. That's how the relative global peace of the 90s and 2000s turned into this global nightmare in less than 2 decades.

What trump has done to the republican congress is eerily similar to what Caligula did to the Roman Senate after his extended illness led his Praetorian Guard Prefect Macro to convince Caligula's heir Gemellus to prepare to ascend to the throne on Caligula's impending death.

Once he recovered he humiliated the senate every chance he got, and they just ate it out of fear of execution. Of course the republicans of today are far greater cowards than the Roman senate, but trump has humiliated and emasculated them every chance he gets. They just eat it and smile. Even now when trump is at his weakest and can easily be taken down they refuse to put the knife in his back out of fear of losing their status and congressional seats.

We are witnessing men and women who rank among the biggest cowards in all of recorded human history.

And that the congress would be so starved for votes to go right along with it.

I'm glad that the media has finally started telling this story because it helps organize the finger pointing a little better.  Under regulated social media is a pox on humanity and failing to make shareholders responsible for the messages they carry an obvious policy solution for anyone not already in their financial thrall.

That's one solution--the other is that governments failing to deliver real improvement are going to ping-pong between sides as voters make every election a change election.

There will 100% be a large "lazy old fat man" elevator in the back.  Because it's being built by a lazy old fat man.

I fully expect the White House to be replaced by a hotel/casino called The Prez.  The Saudis and Russians have to stay somewhere when they come for Trump's lifetime coronation in that god damned ballroom.

I think after yesterday it's already Weekend at Bernie's over at the White House. Trump can't stay awake and can't keep any stories straight anymore.

Well, and the ADA would absolutely require some access other than going up the Manitou Incline.  Which is fine, except when the whole point is to have some sort of glorious entrance for the powerful.  It's hard to recreate that running squads of elderly dignitaries up elevators.  Evacuation procedures would also get interesting.
