First. Don't act like it doesn't exist or only exist on the "conservative corners of the internet". Second. Understand not all allies look like you, think like you and will have different viewpoints on some major items. A lot of the people with disagreeing voices felt spoke down to, by people like you, instead of understood on any level and they decided you were the machine. Body autonomy for abortion = good. To not take a vaccine after you'd had covid already once = bad. Theres nuance to this if you want to see it.

like many others, it was a lie they told themselves to vote for Trump.
I don't think people appreciate how unpopular Biden was at the end, and by extension, Kamala. Many looked for any reason to justify a change including burying their head in the sand and just voting for the opposition. IMHO this is an example of that.

Biden would have won. But we will not vote for a woman for quite a long time.

Some of that nuance involves highly communicable disease with varying severity and a mortality rate in certain demos that is pretty damn high, vs no illness at all and no possible effect on others.

See, it's not that Dems need to court nazis.  No, that's ridiculous.  It's that Dems need to make room at the table for discussion of the idea that maybe jews and other inferior races are conspiring to drag America down, and maybe we should protect America for REAL Americans.  That's all we're saying here.  And also, in order to stop the snobbish elites from running things, we need to turn over ever single seat and lever of power to the richest humans on earth, who have nothing but our well-being and the public good in mind.  We need to listen to ideas like that, and follow through on them.

In short form, this - this is what we should have been more open-minded and welcoming about:

How many people tried to get you to back down the dead name take? You lose people when you want both sides of the street for yourself but only see one lane for others. I have found a way to disagree with a lot on both sides. All i said was an often repeated line about the left can't meme and i'm unvaxxed and this board did what people have spent the better part of the last 4 years doing. I still altered my normal voting habits in spite of it. As you can tell, well others didn't.

Actually, that approach works just fine for the right.  They want, have asked for, voted for, and are receiving, an intolerant authoritarian state.

Don't tell me that right-leaning voters don't like being told what to do, or not allowing lanes for others.  They fucking LOVE people being told what to do, and people being shoved into a narrow lane.  It fucking brings them orgasmic joy.  Because "rules for thee, not for me."

"We thought he was gonna brutalize OTHER people with tariffs, not US!"  "We thought he'd hurt those lazy leeches, not us folks who are about to start new jobs!"  NOBODY on the right is upset at all about the harm, cruelty, and brutality of the regime they voted for.  They only get upset when they are collateral damage of the chaos they voted for.

There's no "both sides of the street" or compromise with such thinking.

There is no middle.  The middle is a fucking lie, and has been since 2008 or so.  There is MAGA.  There is not-MAGA.  That's it.  That's all that exists.

You either believe that lie, or you're selling that lie.  Either way, you should fucking stop.

Why are you on about this? You brought it up randomly in an otherwise serious post about overreaching vaccine mandates. What the fuck does one have to do with the other? If the left "was better at memeing" would more people have gotten vaccinated? Would their message have resonated harder?

grabbed what I thought was a pretty silly, unrelated remark in your post and pointed out how ridiculous it is. Full stop. I made no argument for or against vaccine mandates.

And yes, I've only seen that phrase from literal Facebook uncles (I'm sure Elon has probably repeated it) and assorted right wing personalities as a way to insult the left for not being funny, while they watch Greg Gutfield and require humor that beats them over the head with its "subtlety." If it has a deeper meaning than that, then yes, you must have derived that meaning from other conservative corners of the internet. Maybe you're in a bubble as well if you think it's mainstream?

As has been repeatedly noted around here, the number of CR posters who were reliable Republican/mostly Republican voters for decades, until the GQP decidedly to go openly christo-fascist/authoritarian/nutbar is pretty fucking large.

Again, people who voted reliably Republican for decades are condemned as far-left libtards because we.....do not favor turning the US into a christofascist authoritarian oligarchy.  And WE'RE the unreasonable ones.  Fucking hell.

You don't negotiate with it.

You fucking fight it, undermine it, and work to hurt and destroy those who hold that position.  Our policy goal should be the complete and total suffering and pain of every MAGA voter, until they scream "no more," and then double it.  They have stated that the only language they understand is pain.  We should speak it.  Loudly and clearly.

Seriously, I negotiate for a living.  Sometimes, we run across a counter-party that takes that approach.  100% of the time, full-on infliction of devastating pain and cost is the only thing that they understand, and the only thing that gets them to yeild.

You cannot reason with the unreasonable.  You can only hurt them until they seek terms.

There's no other path forward.  At this point, the only goal should be to inflict more pain/suffering/casualties on the MAGAt class than the non-MAGAt class.

The "hey, maybe we SHOULDN'T design a society focused solely on hurting people" option was taken off the table long ago.  The name of the game is "how many people on the other side can you hurt."  It's a stupid, awful, fucking hideous game.  But that's the game they've chosen to play.  So, the only choice is to play it.  Better.  With more intentional and strategic targeting, and to go all kung-fu, use the power of their attacks against them.  As they lunge forward to hurt the weak....multiply that attack to hurt ALL the weak, because the MAGAt class is full of weak people.

We'll never play that game in any kind of a consolidated effort.  Musk showed that fractures in the party can be exploited with money--pay people to go against their interests.  We'll never know the full extent to which he did this during the election or its effects, but it sure didn't help.  Democrats have too many hats and different interests, whereas Republicans unify over white privilege.  The rich don't care--see Snoop.  What happened to Snoop "fuck Donald Trump" Dogg? The uber rich aren't governed by Nationalism, they're above that.  We hurt each other and stay divided, each cut reinforcing why we hate our neighbor, rather than those running the show.    They don't actually fight in the rings they create.

The most frustrating thing about these conversations is understanding the frustrations some had with vaccine mandates* with the fear being something to the affect of "if you give 'them' this much power, they'll never give it back and they'll just keep taking" but then those same people being unmoved when that they [checks notes] gave it all back, just like they said they would.

Among other things, the board must annually certify that a new Data Protection Review Court inside the Justice Department, which can investigate and render judgments on any European complaints, complies with the pact.

Still, Paul Rosenzweig, a former special advocate to represent Europeans before that court and who resigned this week in protest of Mr. Trump’s return to the presidency, disclosed in a blog post about his resignation that to date the court has yet to hear a case.

We don't have to make a consolidated effort.  Just be tasmanian devils, fomenting pain and chaos wherever you can, whenever you can.  The name of the game is pain.

Oh, and as for the rich, who truly and genuinely don't care....that's why you have Luigis.  It's why you'll get more of them, and why we should be happy to see them do their work.

When an entire class of people fucks everyone else in the ass, grins and says "and what the fuck are you gonna do about it?"....we should at the very least shrug our shoulders (and at most, be smugly satisfied) when someone....does something about it.  Rig the game and make yourself immune to any legal consequences or repercussions?  Don't be shocked when the extra-legal consequences come knocking.

We ARE different than the MAGAts in one important respect, though.  Yes, we hate our neighbor just like they do (and I say we should -- give in to that hate, it's important and serves a purpose).  But we hate the MAGAts not for what they ARE -- I couldn't give half a shit if they are white NASCAR fans who love Mountain Dew, you do you, brother -- we hate them for what they DO.  And what they DO is blame the poorest and weakest among us for everything that hasn't gone right in their life, what they DO is empower the rich and powerful to inflict pain and suffering on those they hate, and what they DO is cheer on cruelty, making libs cry, making the "other" suffer, etc. when the false Gods they have created bring those things about.  The only way they will ever see the folly of that path is when they are caught it its crosshairs.  So we should do all we can to expand the free-fire zone.
