I can’t even describe how much I hate this team right now.

It's actually fascinating to see how poorly they can execute and yet somehow remain in contention. Although that says much more about the division than about the Astros.

I guess a fan could be encouraged that the team at least tends to be competitive against elite squads. (No, I didn't mean "other" elite squads.) But let's face it: This is a staggering run of garbage and plenty of justification to can the skipper.

That was a very Astros way to lose a game. This offense has been brutal for two seasons. Score a ton one game then can’t score for multiple after that and have to rely on lights out pitching to give us hope and that’s gone to dog shit too.

Yordan with the steal. Our correspondent putt must be out cold from the Margaritas
You know there is 0.0% chance he stayed there past like the 6th inning

What is the number of innings we are going to go without scoring a run?

This team has been without Yordan, Paredes, Pena, Meyers, Blanco, Wesneski and Arrighetti for a significant portion of the season. They overachieved to get to first place on the backs of Hunter, Framber and the bullpen. They have no MLB ready talent in the minors to step-up to replace any of the injured. It’s amazing that they are still in first and a statement as to the weakness that is the AL West.

Hopefully they can survive this week. If Yordan comes back healthy, he could put this offense on his back.

The Astros would be in second place in 3 of the remaining 5 divisions and third in the other 2.

They’d be in the 3rd Wild Card spot in the NL.

And what if I told you that the ALW has the third best winning percentage in MLB:

ALC - .487

ALE - .523

ALW - .499

NLC - .528

NLE - .487

NLW - .475

There is just more parity in the league right now which is a good thing.

Yeah it seemed pretty clear to me that Yainer's glove touched the catcher's arm & not his glove & landed on the plate before the C got his tag on Yainer. You don't tag someone out with your arm. You do it with the glove. But wtf do I know? Maybe this is an under-the-radar new baseball rule I hadn't heard about.

Oof. Last 5 games, including the 5-4 W:

23 hits from a total of 8 guys.

Counting only those guys who got hits, they were 23-120 (.1916)

4 of those guys hit .200 or better (Correa, Diaz, Urias, Walker). The other 4 (Tuve, Pena, Smith, Dubon) combined for 7 hits (7-53, .132). Leading the way were Urias (.285) and Correa (.263). The rest are .214 or lower.

Damn.

I can't really fault HPU for missing that one in real time. It was a tough call. But damn, review has to get it.

Fair. But he (and the 1B ump on the Abreu play) were wildly out of position

The loss of Paredes was the turning point of the season. He was the only guy that was consistently putting together quality ABs almost every time at the plate. Even when it got to 0-2, it still seemed like the pitcher was throwing another 4+ pitches to get him out.

Nope the arm does not make a successful tag, it has to be with the glove.

Can you imagine if we had that lady ump last night?
Correa arguing those calls, she would have been PMSing and getting all crotchety with him, then she would have gone full Karen on his ass questioning her ability to call balls and strikes then the payback happens on a big tag out call at home plate.
Hold on just a damned minute, that’s almost exactly what happened last night
