Don’t love USC showing up in the Coleman sweepstakes out of nowhere, given their history of throwing out insane offers.

Kinda same. USC and aggy will throw a huge ridiculous offer his way.

Did people really expect Coleman to sign without taking any other visits? This is like negotiating 101 - dude has an insane amount of leverage. Even if he wants to come here, there’s no way you don’t take most or all of the visits for no other reason than to get us to pony up some more cash.

Plus, wouldn't they charge per visit, to gauge real interest?

Assuming that Livingstone story is accurate, the thing I'm most upset about is that somebody on our staff thought he was worth mid-6 figures.

Also, fuck ou.

In fairness mid 6 figures is probably a range between 350-650k. Not my money or cap to manage, but 350k would seem to be good value for him.

He goes to OU, he’s dead to me. Will not root for him ever.

Here is how I’m thinking about it. He has the opportunity to play with Arch, probably one the best QB’s in the country and a certain top 5 NFL draft pick.

Plus, Coleman knows that Texas is pushing all their chips in to make a run at a title next year. Neither USC or A&M is anywhere near that situation. Reed is a terrible throwing QB, and USC still has rebuilding work to do.

If Coleman wants to go join those situations over the Texas situation over a few NIL dollars, then he’s too stupid to have been successful here anyway.

A successful year at Texas would push him way up the draft board as compared to those other situations where he could actually end up dropping down the draft board and cost himself a lot of NFL guaranteed money.

If he’s not a priority, why are we hosting him on the first weekend?

Curious, of those WRs in the portal, who would you take over Wingo? Drops aside, I don’t know if there is more than one or two players in the portal who have his big play ability that Sark so covets.

I’m glad he’s coming back.

Don't worry, you'll never have kids spending every waking hour on Surly.

USC and Texas have something A&M does not. They have proven QBs and proven play callers. A&M has Coleman Wiggins, who best know for having everyone of his WRs he recruited at Bama portal out

So it could be Texas, USC or Ags? Eyes Wow GIF by DRODIAN™ BRAND

Looks like Ian Geffard, the Arkansas DT, is going to make a trip to Kentucky and Auburn after visiting us and SMU.

I expect strangers to act in my best interest.

How would a player charge to visit? They don't have an NIL agreement with the school. They can't receive a fair share payment.

Getting money from a school just to visit seems like it would be straight-up old-school bags activity.

Some thoughts...

- I like where Texas sits overall right now.

- I think any suppositions on Cam Coleman or Jayden Woods are going to be misguided and/or premature. They'll both take multiple visits and go from there.

- I think it's a positive sign that Arkansas DL Ian Geffrard came back a second day on his visit.

- I think the two starting Michigan OLs - Andrew Sprague and Jake Guarena - would be excellent additions.

- Texas seems to be attempting to shore up its kicking game in one weekend. Both Gianni Spetic, a kicker from Memphis, and Mac Chiumento, a punter from Florida State, are on campus currently.

- I will be surprised if Wyoming OL Wes King ends up a Longhorn.

- UTSA DL Kenny Owozalu is expected to visit today. We're monitoring that. There could be another DL who visits this week depending on that outcome.

- There are several players who have announced their intentions to enter the portal but who have not been officially entered yet.

Some schools utilize a 48-hour (or two business days rule) that allows a team to delay signing their player into the portal.

While some might take that as a bad sign, it's not uncommon. It's also not a tactic Texas was unaware of prior to this weekend

Same way they always have cash or visa gift cards under the pillows at a hotel. There are still bag tactics in play but it’s able to be overcome with actual NIL/rev share.

On Friday’s OTF, Gerry was wearing his “hi” shirt and made a point to focus on it a few times, which made me think he was giving his “hi” bat signal at least twice, likely 3 times. My money is on Isaac Brown and our new shitty kicker being in the bag, especially with the call out to UL’s gamesmanship wrt portal paperwork. Sprague is my best guess for 3rd already in, given how loud the Baker to guard noise was.

Seems like some of the guys who were hinted as done deals aren't going to be a straight-forward as indicated. Woods and Mascoe taking other visits, Isaac Brown maybe returning to Louisville, etc. Not saying those won't happen but still work to do.

OL updates from OTF:
Still not saying Goosby is a lock to come back vs. NFL, but that
Sounds like they passed on the Wyoming guy (Wes King)
Still indicating Baker moves to OG if Sprague signs
Mizzou involved for Sprague but may not even get to them
Not sure of any competition for Guarnera, who could be OG or C depending on Robertson, etc
Still not sure what Connor Robertson is going to do

So, as I said, just bags activity.

I would hope we don't do that bullshit. And fuck any player who expects it.

Is Brown maybe going back to Louisville or are they just dicking around with the paperwork?

Apparently Louisville boards think there's an increasing chance he stays. OTF mods kinda avoiding questions on it. So it sounds like it may be more of a battle than the 9.95ers previously thought.

I'm having a hard time finding a reason to be stressed about Cam Coleman. Texas obviously has a competitive offer. If he signs with Texas, great! If he picks another school, good luck to him. We have a great situation and opportunity for him with Arch and Sark, if it's all about highest bidder, we probably don't want a guy like that anyways.

No way a guy named Wilkin Formby plays outside the SEC.

I don't think we want anyone from the Bama OL. They were hot trash this year, at least in the run game

I'm fine if we don't take anymore bama players at all. Did we ever have any that planned out?

Following that logic, no one should want Goosby.

Keilan Robinson wasn’t a star but he was a great special teams players and a good change of pace rb for us

Yes we do. We need to be the highest bidder. This isn't about naive idealism and platitudes.

So, Hank South posted this.

I thought - let's see what the Cal board is saying about this situation ...

A guy keeps posting that the board is dead.

If not dead, let's go with weak ...

Guy with Michigan logo does a drive-by ...

So yeah, nobody seems to give a shit.

FIFY

Always a bit surprising when a can't miss guy turns out to be a miss

I swear to god if that fucking retard Flood moves forward with Roberston at center and thinks we will be 'fine' just adding a single guard and RT we didn't even need, banking on Baker suddenly getting twice as strong so he can hack it at RG, I'm going to embrace my IRA ancestry and firebomb his fucking car send a very strongly worded email.

Is this the ‘moonshot’ that Nahlin alleged?

Ain't no way he used moon shot to describe a DT who redshirt last year and has shown nothing in college so far. I mean it is Nahlin so who knows but I doubt it.

No, but he hinted as a Texas HS player looking to come home and it sounds like it was about Williams.

Gerry is also saying we will be involved. Could be a nice way to backfill some of the late departures in the 2026 class at DT.
