he's failed and is eventually gone, now it's all about how much time we need to waste due to the insane extortion dumb ass CDC gave him last year

I still feel our boosters are motivated.  Hell we just signed the #1 class and I can’t imagine that was cheap.  I do think that with the house settlement, we cant just outbid and buy everyone like we were doing previously.  Other teams can spend about the same money we can.  I also think the mindset of us having to pay our guys to retain this roster was probably a bad move in hindsight.  We should have gone hard after the Oregon OL, guys like Mario Craver, Noah Thomas, Branch.  We should have gone hard after a RB instead of relying on Baxter who is made of glass. This staff over estimated who they had on the roster.  I also feel Sark did not do enough to hire good support as far as analysts go.  I remember when we brought in actual good coaches like Patterson, the special teams coach from the cowboys, the Wisconsin HC.  I truly feel these guys thought that their same schemes would work and that we could just out talent everyone.  He needs to hit reset button this off season on offense.

It always seemed like the offense was the most likely to be a problem, but damn if I'm not completely deflated by our shit defensive performance. Our DT transfers looked like ACC players. Our All American linebackers get zero pressure. I don't know if Burke is still on the team. Guilbeau is always chasing down somebody who just burned him. Nobody to replace Mukuba 5 weeks into the season.

Sark is the problem.

This is the reality.

On one hand, Sark is responsible for the resurgence at Texas.

OTOH, Steve Sarkisian is responsible for the shitshow that is this Texas team. Every bit of it is his fault.

I personally think he’s done. He’ll be fired within 3 years. We hit our zenith last year. The next two years probably won’t be 7-5/8-4 type years, but we will be nothing more than an upper middle team in the SEC sitting just behind/around Ole Miss level. That is a total reflection of the fact that Sark is nothing more than a middling HC.

I kept beating the drum we needed to go get Justice Haynes and was brushed off by a few people. Think about how much he would have helped. He's a stud.

What does the game yesterday look like if we do nothing but trade OLs with Florida? When the OL gives up 35 pressures and our offense is seemingly designed for the QB to hold the ball fucking forever.... this is a problem. Having a non-existent running game is also problematic.

Hell, maybe if we just did what UF did: double team the tackles on run plays. Our OL (especially LG and C) were getting destroyed.

And why did I see only two 'quick' throws?

All of our pass plays look like, "OK me is going to be covered, just wait one more moment and people will come open..."

Except that is the moment the OL is getting pushed into the pocket.

Get the QB out of the pocket if you want to win now....and open a competition for all offensive positions. I'm not convinced we have the best players at every position.

I’m genuinely surprised the Oline is this bad. This is Charlie Strong Oline level ineptitude. Not a damn thing matters with the rest of the team unless that gets fixed, or at least be becomes somewhat serviceable. Solid F to this point in the season. Yesterday was an F-.

Those dudes and coaches need to ask themselves some serious questions.

The opposite can also be true. Herman and is gang of idiots wasn’t developing their hand picked talent or even attracting talent. Sark will have a good amount of his guys drafted this year but there needs to be some change on the coaching front in key areas.

On the portal takes, it’s a new age in football and it shouldn’t devalue the role of a coach. Guys leave programs and try to land at ones that can get them to the league. Golden is a good example of Sark elevating his level of play and getting him drafted in the first round.

Pushing around Alabama in Tuscaloosa in the fourth quarter feels like 20 years ago. We couldn't come close to doing that against UTEP.

Before we start with the "Any chance we bring [name former elite o-line coach] in to replace Flood talk, let's see if Sark is smart first. It literally, LITERALLY took being down by 3 scores to Billy Napier before Sark or whomever decided Stroh might fucking suck, and put in Brooks.

And for fucks sake, just let Robertson play center. Hutson got tossed around like an infant in a 19th century orphanage in Slovakia.

I would have to rewatch the game which is not something I am going to do, but I swear there was a play in the first quarter where someone picked up Cole Hutson and threw him backwards. I'm being serious.

Which unit was worse yesterday? OL or DL?

I'm not surprised the offense struggled in that environment. I'm shocked UF was able to impose its will in the running game, especially in the 1st Half. Of course, the offense's struggles made things harder on the defense bc they're on the field too long. It was an embarrassing overall performance with 2 weeks of preparation.

I'll start by watching the highlights, but I'm afraid re-watching the entire game will be too disappointing.

And then, depression sets in.

Kelvin Banks only came here because Cristobal left to Miami and Worthy fell into our lap because Michigan doesn’t know how to do paperwork on time.

OL was worse by far. That was an all-time bad performance. Arch was playing Frogger back there

DL, and defense in general, was shocking to me though. 4 ypc actually isn't that terrible in college but it isn't great. Tackling at LB/DB was also poor which led to a lot of extra yards. The lack of pass rush or run game penetration is worrisome. All year we just haven't been seeing the negative plays we've had the last couple years. Lagway was playing on a gimpy foot and we never made him move off his spot. Any pressure at all and he probably folds. I don't understand where Simmons, Moore, Burke, Hill, etc have gone in the pass rush compared to last year.

The mess we are in is solely on Sark.  This roster has had very little turnover as far as guys leaving.  The roster is how he wanted it.  These are his hand picked players, his coaches, his schemes.   I personally feel this entire program went into this offseason entitled.  Sark thinks he’s Saban/ Carroll running a NFL program.  This is still college football where you need to get as many reps as possible to a young team.   We have been resting players all spring, all summer, through fall camp, and through the first 3 games.   When was the last time you had the same starting 11 play more than 1 game this season.  It’s clear this offense has no chemistry.  It’s clear that they did not hit the weight room hard.  It’s clear the coaches gameplan all offseason was that we were just going to out talent teams and use our depth.  We joked about Napier and Venables running hard practices while we took a NFL approach with load management.  Well we now have a soft fucking program and a soft fucking culture.  These guys looked shell shocked yesterday like they did against Arkansas.

The interesting thing about this observation is that this is the exact opposite of what Sark should have taken away from his time with Saban.  Saban was like "I don't give a shit who you are or what your ranking was, I got two more 4/5 stars over there who look just like you and if you can't do it, then they will get their chance to do it".  You hear Alabama players from that period talk about practices being way harder than games, that they were always in high-competition mode because if they weren't, they were losing their jobs, etc.

It’s never as bad as it seems and never as good as it seems. The worst part about yesterday is that it was a confirmation of many of the concerns that have been showing up to varying extents in each game this year.

Sark gives a shit, and he has a lot of options to throw at the issue. The downside is that there are no gimmes left to workshop different options and we wasted many valuable snaps on Stroh and Hutson. That Cojoe injury hurts because he probably could have played LG better than that shit we’re seeing.

Flood needs to simplify the scheme and get these guys playing aggressively. Find a blocking scheme Neto can execute consistently and let his aggression be the example for the others to follow.

Arch is a playmaker/athlete QB playing in a strict timing offense. He’s probably not ready to execute the gimmes of this offense so everything looks even harder as a result.

He looked mentally fragile again yesterday as well. He should have been lighting up his guys for playing substandard all game.

Sark has significantly overrated the quality of his team on both sides of the ball.

Too much pride/money on the line for things not to get better fast.

Didn't Sark try some NFL-style "OTA" approach to the spring this year with less contact because of how many games we'd played?

I get the need for rest but maybe that backfired. Especially for newer starters like the OL.

I agree. Most QBs would have folded by the 2nd quarter with the pressure he was getting. He did well avoiding the rush, taking a lot of big hits while still delivering the ball reasonably well. Obviously he missed some throws but all things considered (2nd ever road start in a tough environment, no run game at all, no pass pro at all, defense not helping), that was actually a decent performance.

He is still slow to read the field but that should probably be expected for a guy making his 2nd start vs decent opponents. And the timing throws are a struggle, which certainly hasn't been helped by Wingo, Moore, and Mosely being hurt most of the offseason. Ex: that one INT was totally a timing issue between him and Mosley. Arch threw it before Mosely came out of his break like he's supposed to, but it was too soon. That could be on either guy but ultimately just timing. Not a shocker considering Mosely has practiced for 2 weeks now..

In Eric Nahlin's "horns up, horns down" article this morning, he had three "horns up" (positives). Arch, Livingstone, and the punter. And we had a punt blocked for a safety.

I just wish there were something you could do as a playcaller when your offensive line is struggling.

I know there isn't, you should just keep calling the same shit that isn't working.  You have to, that's the rules.

Nope, just longer, slower developing plays, waiting for WRs to come open 30 yards downfield, while your QB is dodging DL like in a video game.

Probably not a huge difference maker, but the dude can move a pile and has superior vision. If I had to place a bet, he would have gotten nothing less than 4 ypc at the very least. He's truly that good of a player, even with our o-line. He's also a great blocker. He just is. I still want to punch my neighbor or a random homeless man for not even trying to go after him.

Correct. Both Banks and Campbell only came here because Cristobal left, and Worthy almost quite literally fell into our laps. We can thank Cristobal for fucking up that move, but I also don't blame him. Oregon, the state, is a shit hole, I'm sorry.

I won't. The 17-minute "highlights" were more than I can take.

Sark got out-coached by Sunbelt Billy, too. Lagway executed what they wanted to do on offense - quick throws.

Correct. Lagway made our db's look mid, though they're not. Our front 4 couldn't get to the QB (and I don't want any motherfuckers coming at me about the refs), and PK/Sellers just have no clue what to do with Simmons, even if it is obvious to Helen Keller.

Let's not put our team in any more trains. Seems like a lot of wasted time that could have been better spent prepping for the game.

Yeah, I ride my bike through campus a few times per week and the talent is a noticeable step down from the 90's. That should be no huge surprise, its a lot fucking harder to get into UT than it was in the 90's. We're probably exporting hot trim to SEC schools like Ole Miss, because they can no longer get into UT.

This didn't happen. Where are you seeing anything about UT taking a train to Gainesville?
