Two a days ( or what is left of them) started for most  that didn't have Spring ball  on Monday.

On a related off season note.    The state championships just might leave Jerry World after this fall.

I hope they move the six-man championships back to Abilene.

Unless they’re moving it from Jerry World back to DKR then I’m not interested

6-man should have never left Shotwell. I watched Turkey Valley and Richland Springs battle it out in front of packed house each time, and both communities combined couldn’t have filled the visitors stands of that stadium. That place could draw a crowd and was rocking. Throckmorton too.

So who wins it this year- Duncanville or north shore

Westlake will win it this year. The other state champ will depend on who wins the Austin High vs Bowie game

A team I believe could surprise people is Hutto. They hired the North Crowley genius OC as their head coach. Interested in how he does

Did he get to bring any of the North Crowley D1 signees with him?

Was going to say the same, did he bring that track team down that happens to play football?

North shore is finished as a program. Players can’t stop getting in trouble and CE King, Summer Creek, and Atascocita are all hotter names in that area. Even Dickinson is a program on the rise.

(Narrator)

CE King finished 5-5 in 2024 and didn't make the playoffs.  Lost to North Shore 42-14.

Dickinson was 7-4 and lost in the 1st round to Atascocita.

Atascocita went 12-2 with both loses to  (checks notes) North Shore, the playoff loss was 49-21.

Summer Creek was 12-3 including a 35-10 loss to North Shore in the regular season finale.

Lol. Last I checked this is 2025. Obviously NS has been king in Houston for a long time. I’m saying they’re done.

Last time anyone on here checked you have an innate superpower of always being about as wrong as it is possible to be. I've sometimes wondered if you can somehow see the future and are trolling all of us by posting the opposite of what actually happened.  Then the tequila loses its grip on my mind and I realize you're just really dumb and type whatever pops into your head

5 turnovers and not sure who won, but the other squad only had 6pts at the most.  Did they play in a monsoon or was that team with the 5 TOs just incredibly shitty on offense?

let's give it a couple of days for others to see it

to your point, there were FIFTEEN (15) turnovers these 2 games

across 96 minutes of football that's a turnover every 6 minutes

I know the answer. Hint: the two teams open the season against each other this year. Both teams also suck now, otherwise I’d be mad that the game is taking place while we are playing Ohio State.

welp, since you gave it away, it's the 77 and 78 plano-permian state semis

permian won last year 13-10 at ratliff after a 30-year break in the series

the return game is this year in frisco

fantastic they decided to televise this year's game

unbelievably stupid to kickoff at 11am central on saturday 30 august

will be setting dvr (nfl network)

the 77 game is forgotten, sandwiched between the miracle 29-28 quarterfinal comeback over highland park and the state final win 13-10 over png in front of 49k at texas stadium

the 77 game was played in lubbock in a cold howling wind

on plano's 2nd punt permian fumbled on their 40(?), plano recovered, gained a few yards and kicked a line-drive field goal that barely made it over the bar

plano didn't cross midfield again for the rest of the game: 63 total yards, 9 punts, 3 points, 0 penetrations, and won

the 78 game was played in irving and was a defensive war not unlike the '76 0u game

5 fumbles, 4 lost and 5 picks for NINE total turnovers between the 2 teams

permian was on the plano 35(?) with 4 seconds left but plano was ahead on penetrations so permian had to go for the endzone, i don't remember how that play failed but it did

the next week cjk5h led stratford over plano for the title at the astrodome

permian may have friday night lights, but it took them 47 years to notch their first win over plano, and permian played a huge part cementing the plano mystique

They've lost two or three games in the last two years. One was in the state final and the other was the state semifinal, so maybe it's a little premature to write them off.

Reasons to think they will be great:

  • Talent. They are usually loaded with talent across the line, and I'm sure the next lineup of stars is ready to make an impact

Reasons to think they won't be dominant:

  • Coaching. Their game plan vs Westlake in last years semifinal seemed strange at best. They were very conservative and were still running dive plays into the line in the third quarter when they were down big. They may have lost more than we understand in the coaching department.
  • QB. They are replacing a four-year starter who won two titles, and played in a third. Good luck at Auburn, Dematrius Davis.
  • Competition. As @Helobious pointed out, there are some ascending programs in their region, namely Atascocita.

I don't disagree with your overall point, but Dematrius Davis graduated from North Shore years ago, he's not even at Auburn anymore. The QB they're replacing now is Kaleb Bailey, who just graduated this past Spring.

Thanks so much for the correction. Hope Kaleb has success at Auburn, but he looked unsteady in his final HS game. Again, that may be due to their new coaching staff.

Ridge Point HS has 18 kids with an FBS offer, might be a candidate to break through like Vandy and North Crowley last year

They have talent all over the field, for sure.

Wow. He was committed to Auburn as of last Dec. I wonder what happened?

Brother you keep swinging and missing here, he was never committed to Auburn. Looks like Auburn offered him after his freshman year but was likely not committable, Murray State is the only school he actually gave a commitment too at any point.

Okay, that makes sense. Thanks for the clarification. I'll see myself out.
