transfer portaled...

in High School.  Fuck you, deliberately ignorant UIL.

He actually did go to NC as a freshman, then transferred and started at burleson as a sophomore, to now transferring back to NC as a junior.

Isn’t it European soccer where teams loan out their younger players to lesser teams for more playing experience? Gates is revolutionizing HS football.

Except for that little eligibility problem

Typical UIL bullshit. I already had a write up for him in my Helo’s Homies note and now I need to replace him with someone

Suspect the UIL in Austin doens't give a shit.  This sounds more like the the other schools at the district level.

I loved spring ball. 3 weeks of football and the coaches are semi-human beings.  Practices were a different mentality, and you could work at other positions/ offense/ defense if that wasn't your normal spot. Then you kind of knew through the summer where you stood on the 2-deep.

Then one less week of practice in fucking August?  Yeah, Spring practice was a win in my book.

Spring ball was a good thing before most schools began moving up start dates to the first or second week of August.  Back in my day when school started the last week of August or even the day after Labor Day in some ISD’s,   schools that had Spring Ball had up to three weeks of two a days. We could get some good reps including scrimmages before our first game without distractions.  Now they don’t have anything that comes close to resembling the grid of two a days thanks to the UIL.  They might get in a week of practice without school interfering and with that maybe a couple of true two a day practices.

Was in the City of Angels this week.  I laughed a little as we drove by Hollywood High.  That's a great mascot.

KJ Edwards stood out in that state game.  I mean it was Mark Cuban gif taking notes, "Who the fuck is that?  Oh, he's only a Junior?"

Wish he wasn't going to cultville.

OTF Stepping into HS football coverage and will have Carl Padilla as part of that. Fucking awesome as Padilla is a legend.

So I've been working on this for the last few weeks and I must say I'm pretty excited about what I've put together. For the last couple of years we've had numerous people ask about doing a high school football show during football season. It's something that I kicked around with Bobby, but never actively pursued until now.

Beginning next week, we will have a weekly show that is all about Texas High School Football called "The Fieldhouse" and each week we'll discuss some of the state's biggest games, the players, storylines and we'll even focus on Texas commit performances as well.

It's the lineup that has me super excited, however.

I'll be hosting, but I'll be joined by:

Carl Padilla  - Carl is a prominent figure in Texas high school football, often referred to as "The Godfather of Texas High School Football." In 1997 he founded the Padilla Poll, a high school football polling and news source dedicated to covering the sport in Texas. The Padilla Poll provides rankings, news, and updates on high school football teams, players, and coaches across the state.

Coach Bob Shipley - Father of former Longhorn WRs Jordan and Jaxon Shipley, Coach Shipley has had numerous successful stops around the state, including being the Head Coach at Burnet, Brownwood, Coppell and Rotan. He also worked for the University of Texas as both an analyst and as the Director of High School Relations.

Coach Tim Buchanan - Longtime HC/AD of Aledo, Coach Buchanan went 281-58 over the course of his career, while winning EIGHT state titles. His eight titles are tied with G.A. Moore, Jr. and behind only Gordon Wood (9) and Scott Surratt (10). He is one of only three Texas high school football coaches to win state championships in four decades.

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't giddy about this. All three bring unique perspectives to the table and have been involved in Texas High School Football for an incredibly long time. I easily could have called the show "3 GOATs and 1 scrub", but The Fieldhouse sounded much nicer.

As soon as we finalize what day/time the show will run, I will post that as well.

As usual, in the winner’s name I will take $100 from my personal checking account and donate it to my personal savings account at the end of the year. Last year’s winner was Ryan Estrada.

Chingon Trophy Watchlist

Jermaine Santana-Diaz - S, Fort Bend Ridge Point (SR): Committed to Colorado State for some reason, over some better offers IMO. Sidenote, Ridge Point has a fuckton of FBS offers on their team. All just to get bounced by Katy/North Shore/Atascosita in the playoffs.

Justin Morales - OL, El Paso Franklin (SR): El Paso his having probably its greatest run ever of elite talent. Morales (Kansas St), Del Valle QB Jake Fette (Arizona St), El Dorado RB Ryan Estrada (Minnesota) are all P4 commits in this years class. Keep an eye on 2029 ATH Noah Tarrant as well out of Pebble Hills, he already has 7 FBS offers.

Juan Hernandez - CB, GP North Shore (SO): Devin Sanchez’s heir apparent is ready to step in for the Mustangs. Has an offer from Arizona State.

Ethan Guerra - RB, PSJA North (SR): a difference maker since his freshman year, he’ll probably have a 2000 yard season in this run heavy offense. UTRGV better take notice.

DK Garza - RB, Alamo Heights (SR): I’ll say it, he was a more valuable player for them than Michael Terry last year. Single-handedly brought them back into the CC Miller game in the playoffs, including an electric kick return TD. Committed to Cornell

My son's RR McNeil team scrimmaged Anderson at House Park last night.  Was wanting to get a good look at Yaheim Riley at S but he didn't suit up.  Apparently they didn't have him playing 7on7 this summer either.  Maybe recovering from something dunno?

Saw that DC had Lampasas ranked in the top 25 to begin the season. I am not certain if they made that ranking still thinking Ty Johnson would be playing for the Badgers this year. He transferred out to Crean Lutheran in Irvine, CA where he immediately got put into the top 20 recruits in CA in 2027 and is in the top 150 nationally. I can’t argue with him leaving to go to a school that has a four star QB in his class. Lampasas would have been ridiculously good though with him and RB Jett Walker (WV commit) had he stayed as well.

Lol. Last I checked this is 2025. Obviously NS has been king in Houston for a long time. I’m saying they’re done.

Read it here first. North Shore wins it all.

Two insane streaks on the line this year for Aledo.

First, 127 consecutive district wins. A streak that started in 2007. The streak should easily reach 130 before going on the road to face Denton Ryan on the first Friday in October. Make it through that and they stay on the road and play Richland two games later.

Last year Ryan lost to Aledo in the regular season after leading 27-8 at one point, but pulled away in the playoff rematch and won. Richland went up 14 two different times but Aledo won 48-42 in OT.

Second, they haven’t gone back to back years without winning a State Title since winning their second in 2009. Not just appearing, but actually winning.
