I'm kind of over giant media conglomerates trying to fuck me. Ahoy, mateys.

I think I may be completely done giving my money to any of these massive shithead media/streaming giants.

I will probably go the IPTV route soon.  Those Onn 4k plus units look pretty decent for the price.  Not sure what the best services are these days.

As a massive sports fan, I thought I'd never drop cable/streaming.  But....I'm just tired of the cost, eventhough we can afford it. I'm just sick of companies taking me for granted.

Here we go again...

With YouTube TV, we strive to offer you a wide variety of live programming. To do this, we enter into agreements with network partners, and our decisions about which channels to continue carrying are based on viewer consumption and pricing.

With that in mind, we wanted to let you know that we have been working with TelevisaUnivision to reach an agreement that reflects the value of their content. Unfortunately their current demands aren’t supported by their performance on YouTube TV over the last four years, and despite our best efforts, we’ve been unable to reach a deal. Starting today, TelevisaUnivision content, including Univision and UniMas, will be removed from YouTube TV, as well as any Library recordings you have from these channels. For more information on the impact to our ViX Premium add-on, please visit our Help Center.

You can continue to watch select TelevisaUnivision programming on the Univision Noticias YouTube channel or by purchasing their ViX Premiumstreaming service.

We hope YouTube TV continues to be your service of choice, but we understand some of our members may want to cancel their subscriptions. As always, family managers have the ability to cancel anytime.

Thanks for your membership,
The YouTube TV team

I have internet service through Spectrum. Fiber cable Internet is not available where I live. There is 5G Internet, but I haven't tried that yet. My Spectrum internet bill went up to $60 this year.

I got my first Roku device in 2012.

I cut cable TV for the final time in 2016. The straw that broke the camel's back was the ever increasing pass through fees for over-the-air TV. I installed a full size TV antenna in my attic, and I get all of the local TV stations, and many of the low power TV stations.

Through streaming, I can watch the PBS station, and many local station's news programs.

I mostly watch YouTube (the free version) for live and other programming.

In 2018, I upgraded to a 4K TV, Roku, and Blu-ray player. I already had a a 4K Receiver from 2014 (but it doesn't pass through HDR).

I also have an Apple TV streaming box.

What are you able to watch on YouTube? We cut Uverse and haven’t missed it. We are using YouTube tv right now and are starting to think we don’t need that either.

I watch tons of Music Videos on YT, meaning live concert stuff. Mostly from the 70's and 90's.

I watch lots of war documentaries from the wars of the 20th century.

I don't pay for Sports channels like ESPN or Fox Sports, but I can watch lots of stuff that is posted after the fact, later that day, or the next day. I don't have to see something the moment it's talked about on ESPN. I can wait until hours later to see it.

Is it me, or has the audio quality with YTTV been shit lately?
Finally gave up and opened the ESPN app, and what a difference.

Honestly, the quality of everything kind of sucks. PQ is really annoying as well.

What helped me streaming to my big screen TV, was, to upgrade my old wi-fi router to a router that streamed at 5GHz. to maximize the bit rate, when I'm watching 4K movies and videos. I'm able to stream 2160p with YouTube videos that offer that. As for live streaming from YouTube, I don't do enough to notice sound issues. I do not have YouTube TV, just YouTube.

Oh, everything else looks great (including YouTube 4K, which I watch a lot of). It’s just sports on YTTV that look like ass. All the standalone apps look better (Fox, ESPN, Victory+, FanDuel, etc.).

Well, maybe not fanduel. I hate that fucking app so much, and diamond sports can go get fucked in the mouth. lol

Yeah... I can say with absolute certainty that my 2.5G fiber, connected to my 10G backbone, with 2.5G drops to all major data points, is not the issue. My IoT subnet has plenty of juice, and then some.

Running our game through the ESPN app, and it's so much better. Even with the 4k Dolby Vision signal, that starting input still makes a difference. I think YTTV increased their compression or something. I dunno, with ESPN/Fox app now, that pretty much negates any real value of any cable-esque streamer.

Yeah, the FanDuel app seems to be a huge piece of shit, but the PQ is still better than YTTV haha.

Honestly, mine isn’t, and the sound is stereo, not even 5.1.

But the same feed through that major ball/stick app, with a vpn, and it’s 100x better.

At least the vpn works for now. Those folks are pretty picky about that and whatnot.
