For those of you who haven't seen it yet, the Prime documentary Shiny Happy People is fucking eye opening.   I saw something similar go on at our little 2A school about 15 years ago.  It seemed pretty much a copycat of what this group Teen Mania was doing about the same time.  I have been wondering more and more recently how much the athletes and coaches praise Jesus so much more now than they used to.   Obviously part of the indoctrination program.  Anyway, skip the first season about the Duggars if you want, the second season can stand alone.

Goddamn, the closing line 1:48 or so: "the most valuable thing you could ever do is die" is incredibly salient with Kirk's murder

I love that we can just use this shutterstock photo now and everyone reads the nonexistent headline in their head.

Also, TIL I learned that George Zinn the 71 year old guy that was detained initially 7 days ago (seems like weeks at this point), was arrested for child porn which was found on his phone while police were going through it while he was briefly under investigation.

A broken clock being right twice a day, indeed. https://www.newsweek.com/who-george-zinn-man-accused-fake-charlie-kirk-confession-2131012

what do you mean? I could create something that looks exactly like that in 30 minutes or less. I'm super duper suspicious about any "evidence" coming out now, ESPECIALLY from anyone tied to dotard

You want a text? I can get you a text by 3 o'clock this afternoon, with comic sans!

It has been probably 30 years or more since I said I was proud of anything about the state of Texas. Coincidence?  I think not.

I’m not sure I can watch that without flipping out. That shit is so infuriating.

You have a compelling argument. The whole thing is strange.

My natural instincts are to have a Albert Camus/Absurdist viewpoint when it comes to conspiratorial stuff. Which admittedly is much harder to adhere to in in this current climate of disinformation.

Me too, man.  I'm willing to concede that in stressful situations, with incompetent people, and the random chaotic nature of the Universe things aren't always going to line up perfectly.  Which is kinda why the texts seem so fake to me.  It's just too convenient.  Robinson just spews information like he's a student giving a speech for class.  He's just dumping information.  This doesn't read like a real conversation.  It's like a bad author/screenwriter that is going heavy on the exposition to make the plot make sense.

Just saw this on another board. Lulz. tl;dr: just read the last two posters' replies. The poster they're responding to that board's slighter better-read, slightly more sane version of Incredulity combined with Anastasis.

It's so easy to know, in this day and age and with technology, if things were doctored. It's like @aggie08said, you can't just delete a text and then there is no evidence of it. Metadata exists. backend systems exist. databases exist. archival systems with pedobytes of data exist.

Maybe Kash just pulled up adobe and invented this and then put his name on it, but I highly doubt it.

That's fair. My realization that these kids live in a world I'm not familiar with at all has made me more hesitant. Hopefully we get more clarity soon.

Except we're not living in normal, hey the justice system actually works the way it's supposed to because fascists haven't completely taken over the government times, now are we?

You're thinking that this case is going to have all the normal shit like discovery, legitimate chain of custody of evidence, etc.  When in reality, if the people at the top running the show are bent and the judge is bent and the prosecutor is bent and the governor is bent, the odds you get a legitimate and fair trial are slim to none.  Kash Patel just said during a Senate hearing that Epstein never trafficked any girls whatsoever.  Said it with a straight fucking face right to some Senators.  But that guy is telling you the whole truth and nothing but the truth in regards to this case?  A case where he swooped down from the rafters like a cross-eyed bat to involve himself?  Where the MAGA governor just rolled over and pushed the party line completely and couldn't stop slobbing Patel and the FBI's knob?

Ya'll seem to not understand what world you're living in now.  The Constitution essentially doesn't exist anymore.  Trump and his goons violate that shit every day.  The Supreme Court is just rubber stamping the ripping up of the pillars holding up our democracy.  This guy is going to get Epstein'd in his cell or convinced to take a plea deal so no information gets out about all the fuckery Patel and Co. were up to.  Any blips in the narrative will be hand waved away and everyone will move on to the next 10 disasters that Trump and friends cause.

It continues to blow my mind more people aren't freaking out that we're really here.

Between Charlie Kirk and Arch Manning, we're all losing our fucking minds.

Well, in fairness, both of those events have people flipping out about the underlying issue of "someone's ability to hit a target from distance."  Just, umm, some differences in accuracy between the matters.

Sure, but can you create that on someone else's phone, timestamped to a time period before you had possession of the phone? How do you do this without it quickly becoming blatantly obvious that you faked the texts?

My Dearest Sarah,
I take pen in hand this evening by the dim light of our campfire, hoping these few lines may find you and the children in good health. My thoughts are ever with you, and though the hardships of soldiering weigh heavily upon me, it is the memory of your kind smile and gentle voice that sustains me through the long marches and restless nights.

Goddamnit, I just saw that someone else already posted this before I could delete it. And they did it verbatim, whereas, mine was shot from the hip.
