You do know this is the Football board, right? The Basketball forum link is just to the right. You can't miss it.

What a coup when daddy works on the UT basketball staff.

Kind of a "no shit" commitment but a nice get either way. We'll see if he's actually a top 40 guy - I don't know a ton about his game.

Here is a pretty moving picture of him with his father growing up - who tragically passed 8 years ago while saving others from the wreckage of a sinking battleship.

Bo Ogden says Sean Miller was deciding factor in picking Texas
South

Quote

WEST LAKE HILLS, Texas — Sean Miller landed his first 2026 commitment on Tuesday in four-star small forward Bo Ogden of Austin (Texas) Westlake. The 6-foot-5, 195-pounder chose the Longhorns over Tennessee and Purdue.

"It wasn't easy at all, honestly," Ogden told reporters after his announcement. "The three programs that it came down to, I loved all of them. Coach (Matt) Painter, Coach (Rick) Barnes, I've got really good relationships with them, and it wasn't easy. But the end of the day, I think that my relationship with Coach Miller and the University of Texas was just ... it was too hard to pass up. So I'm really excited."

Ogden took official visits to all three finalists, Texas getting the last crack this past weekend.

"I was able to see a couple practices, and I really liked the practices," Ogden said. "I loved Coach Miller, how he ran them, how he taught guys, just the style that he went about practice. I'm really excited to be able to be a part of it."

Ogden's father, Chris, is the current General Manager for Texas men's basketball and has spent many years serving in a coaching or GM role on the Forty Acres. He also played for the Longhorns under Rick Barnes, finishing as the team's all-time leader in wins (97). He was part of UT's Final Four team, serving as a team captain. That's why the interest in Tennessee was very serious.

"I really like them," Bo said of the Vols. "Coach Barnes and I have a really good relationship. You know, we talk all the time. I love him, but, you know, I had to choose one. So it was the hardest part definitely."

Ogden is excited about the opportunity to have his dad in the building and play for the team he was fan of growing up. Ogden added his favorite player is Kevin Durant, someone he's been able to spend time with on a few occasions.

"It's definitely cool to be close to family," he said. "My dad there, both my parents went there. So it's pretty cool."

Bo added that his dad didn't know his final decision until Tuesday morning.

"We've kept him in the dark on the decision," Bo said laughing. "He didn't even know until this morning. It'll be cool. It'll definitely be cool to see him around the facility and stuff like that. He's pretty excited to get me to stay home with him."

Ogden elaborated on what went into his final decision.

"Coach Miller has been amazing," he said. "I love how he teaches as a coach. I love what he does. I love his play style. So I'd say definitely Coach Miller was ultimately the deciding factor for me."

What is Texas getting in its newest commit?

"I'm a very competitive player, very competitive person," Ogden said. "I think Coach Miller is very competitive as well. So I think that'll be a great connection between us. That'll help us go really far. I want to go win an NCAA tournament for sure.

"I think I'm a really competitive big guard who can really shoot, and shooting has always been a big thing for me. But I think I've really been improving on my ball handling and creation for others. So I think I'm a very versatile player, and I'm ready to showcase that."

Ogden helped St. Michael's to a state championship last season, even hitting the game-winning shot to seal the victory. He's now with Austin Westlake for his senior season.

"I loved my time at St Mike's, and I'm excited for this new opportunity at Westlake," he said. "I think Coach (Robert) Lucero is really good. I loved my time with Coach (Cooper) Land at St Mike's, but I think I'm ready to go win a UIL state championship here at Westlake."
