This is a weird year and it is a weird game this week.

I get being down on the Horns right now after last week's debacle.  But, I don't understand how the narrative became all OU has to do is show up and they will roll Texas.  OU is still pretty average.  They beat a bad Auburn team with an illegal play and an overturned Auburn fumble return for a touchdown while at home and at full strength.  Mateer can run, but isn't the best passer.  I give PK a pass for last week and believe he can dial up a good game plan to stop a mobile quarterback using Hill and Simmons as spies.  The receivers and backs aren't scaring anyone and the line is bad.

There front seven is fine, but Auburn had open receivers all over the place, but Jackson Arnold was beyond bad against them.  I know the narrative is that Arch sucks, but he is much better than Arnold.

I see us winning comfortably.

I think we suprise everyone and come out playing well, matching OUs intensity and even taking an early lead. Then OU fights back, and Mateer (Who grew up in the Metroplex and knows what this game is about) or Hawkins (Who grew up in the Metroplex and knows what this game is about) takes over the game and it becomes apparent that the game last week against Florida was no aberration, this current version of the Longhorns has no leaders, is lacking heart, and doesn't mind being humiliated on the national stage. OU 24 Texas 17

Beyond the fact this is the one game (now two since aggy is back in our orbit) I really want to win each and every season, last week took away any margin for error.

I'm very close to writing this off as a lost season, trip up in the cotton bowl Saturday and that's a certainty.

We lose to the fightin' Venables and I say it's time to empty the bench, burn all shirts...find out exactly what we have for '26. This includes benching underperformers, and yes that includes Arch if the O-line gives him sufficient time and he still puts the ball in the dirt, behind or anywhere that makes it uncatchable by someone wearing burnt orange.

All that said, if we do manage to beat the boomers, I hope it's with Mateer behind center. I don't want to hear any excuses, especially from inbred, mental midgets of other SEC teams simping for blowU because they can't contain their hate for us.

Florida is now 92nd in total yards at 354 per. The put up 457 on us. We recorded 0 sacks and maybe a pressure or 2.

I think we're anywhere from average to bottom 1/3rd of P4.

While so many were fixated on Arch's struggles, the defense shitting the bed hit me hardest. 7 wins is no guarantee unless Saturday's defensive effort turns out to be some kind of motivational fluke.

We are going to win 7 games.

Quit being a bitch.

Fuck OU.

I’m not being a bitch asking this but is this similar to what Ohio State ran vs us (Tampa High?) and is this what we should expect this weekend along with OU also rushing our QB a billion times? I noticed OU doing this a lot last weekend.

Would not be surprised if they do. Will force us to consistently execute in the short/intermediate and run the ball. I bet they twist and stunt more than bring a ton of blitzes: worked for UF.

I wouldn’t be surprised if we played something similar on D given OU’s similar weaknesses.

Would like to see us run a lot of trips or bunch this game. Rod B has been saying this for some time, and each film review I watch seems to show the same. We have a high percentage of our explosive plays out of trips/bunch.

Mateer going to methodically move the ball on our soft coverage and extend drives with his legs. Long, sustained drives vs our 3 and outs are going to result in a 34-10 type game for OU.

Your observational skills are a sight to behold my man. Really impressive.  Class of 98, high honors. Been a horn since I was born. Even have stories about my indoctrination into the burnt orange that would make Colt McCoy blush.

I didn't go to my first one until I was like 20 I think. Hope your kid is doing well health-wise and that he can navigate everything and overcome it as he becomes an adult. The world is shitty in a lot of ways right now but medicine keeps advancing. I'm guessing he can live a very normal life.

For my money it is the best college football game that gets played every season. The only other ones that deserve to be on the same level are Michigan/tOSU and Army/Navy.

It is a beautiful, beautiful example of college football and played with so much more respect, hate and competition than anything that aggy or any of the other Texas schools or B12 wannabes could ever hope to possesss.

Win or lose take it all in and have a great time. Here's hoping we beat their fucking ass.

Mateer may not even be able to hold the ball methodically let alone move it.

I stand corrected.

Or maybe that’s exactly what an Ag would say haha.

09 here. Def not high honors, but maybe “high” honors. Either way glad I have my CS degree from UT. 🤘🏻

I see no way Texas scores for then 2 TDs against this defense. I’d guess 10-13 points is the max for this offense against that pash rush.

Maybe they can win 10-7, but I’d figure arch has 2-3 interceptions and we lose by 3 TDs or so.

Having absolutely zero running game and the horrific o-line sucks.

Moronic take. I’m not whining about shit. Sark doesn’t need to be fired, Arch is doing fine, IMO, given the putrid OL play.

We don’t play in the big 12 anymore. Teams that go 6-6 in this league have athletes like Florida. If the defense looks like it has since week 1, there are no layups left, and 7+ will require some improvement from the offense and  more than little good luck.

So ou is gonna win by 21 but Ohio st can only win by 7 at home and needed a final drive stop to do it? JFC. I get the angst since we lost at Florida but get a grip haha.

I've talked myself into Texas both winning and losing this game by 2 scores. OU hasn't been tested at all yet. Just 1 road game, and that was against Temple. They haven't faced a real gut check. But Arch still doesn't have it all together, our RBs are average at best, our WRs don't have elite speed and our o-line is an abortion. If Mateer plays this entire game, we likely lose and lose bad. He is basically their entire running game. We can't let him survive until the 4th qtr.

Mateer isn't making it 4 quarters if he decides to suit up.

Some 15 yard flags are worth it.

These guys identify how teams have been taking Anthony Hill out of the play and give Arch his due. I hate OU but the one thing they are not is delusional about their opponent sucking and their prouesse like aggy.

Your premise is wrong.  Auburn is not a bad team for one.  Second, Auburn's WR are very good.  We wanted Eric SIngleton and Cam Coleman would being playing here.

OSU started a true freshman in his first game and had the most vanilla game plan imaginable. Their D was vanilla too and shut us down. And they still won.

They grow him a hand in the AI lab or something? Or was his hand never really hurt? Or is the backup just really that awful? Or is it a ruse?

This will end poorly for them, I think they are rushing him back because they know Hawkins is ass. I cant wait to destroy Mateer. He is very average.
