I had a leak under my driveway. Driveway is paved, 40 yards long  and bid $5000 to repair leak. I told them to fuck off and bid went to $1000. My neighbor said he got a bid for a 30X10 basic deck and the contractor wanted $60k.  He was  willing to pay it. I told him he was a retard and the reason why basic repairs and additions  were so expensive is because rich people don't check the poors that are stealing. Ended up paying 5K.  I explained that the GC and all of the contractors were probably meth addicts He priced around and got it done for $5K. Ive been an an attorney for 20 years. People in construction are the most drug addled, dishonest pieces of shit.  No industry even comes close. Its pathhetic. All on meth or have meth brain.

Could say the same shit about lawyers, just with higher tier drugs.

I never got my wisdom teeth taken out. One came in fully, but it didn't fuck up my other teeth, and they never hurt, so I never took them out. Every dentist I've ever been to tells me that I urgently need to get them removed (and they just so happen to know a guy who will give me a great deal) as soon as possible. I tell them I've been told that for 30 years now and the speech is beginning to lost its impact.

i always just assumed you liked the pogues

Office Space No GIF

I'm dishonest. I sometimes tell my wife I'm working a bit later on Friday when I'm actually chilling with my coworkers.

But we're drinking whisky, not doing meth.

Over Christmas break a few years ago, I had a root canal go bad and had a scheduled visit with an endodontist the week after the break to try to redo it and save the tooth. Well, the week wore on and my antibiotics script ran out and my dentist's office was closed, so I visited a chain dental place that happened to be open to see if they could renew my antibiotics for the week. The dentist there told me that going to the endodontist was a waste of time and that she could pull the tooth now and start the implant process for the low low cost of $5,000.

I declined and after some pressure they gave me the antibiotic and sure enough the endodontist, a former Army dentist, fixed it right up in like an hour for a $50 copay.

Health Insurance/Dental Insurance.   On the later, I broke a tooth and had a crown done.  The insurance carrier reviewed and denied the claim stating their independent dentist who reviewed my case believed I should have had a crown put in.  My dentist submitted it again and again they denied it again stating the procedure that was performed should be the procedure.  I am so happy they found an illiterate independent dentist to review the claim.

Kinda niche, but easily bribed, charlatan politicians who sell cheaply made/poor quality consumer products (e.g., watches, fragrance, apparel, hats, shoes, Bibles, etc.) and super scammy digital currencies/trading cards to a gullible base as a bajillion dollar side hustle.

Having worked as a utility contractor and in construction, I can say that without a doubt it is the most toxic professional culture one can find in a ‘reputable’ industry. I know that’s a big asterisk. But it’s filled with narcissists, sociopaths, drunks, drug addicts, criminals, and crooks…. And that’s just the C suite. As you flow down the org chart you find all the same things but it’s harder to find someone embodying all those at the same time like you do at the top.

However, I’ve also met some of the most honest, hard working people in my life in this industry as well.

Even with all the measures that are supposed to keep it honest, there is so much financial fuckery that is played it’s no wonder you find so many super flawed humans ‘succeeding’ at it…..But it is also some of the most honest and rewarding work one can do in that it has a real tangible benefit to the world, people, and communities. Unlike say finance, consulting, pharmacy benefit managers, etc.

It occupies all states at once in an occupational superposition.

I didn't mean to paint everyone with that brush.  I am sure they're great people in the industry.

If you are going through a big "company" for plumbing or electrical or anything like that, you are doing it wrong, friendo.

Everyone needs a plumber/electrician/handyman/tree/AC guy and they should probably be Mexican.  NoCR

Exactly

Some of yall need to quit falling into the trap known as “clicking on the sponsored link when Google searching”

That’s like 100 years of experience man. You can’t find that kind of expertise nowadays.
