A great thing happened at 6:00 last night. Undefeated aggy, in a 1 point game and ranked number 4- got bumped to the kiddie table in favor of us playing Kentucky. That never happens. They finish out the first game. That’s a national slap in the face to them and conclusive proof everyone sees them as little brother.
@closetojumping has said it’s my responsibility to blow sunshine on the weekly thread so there it is.
oh- and we should be favored to get to bowl eligibility. Mack Brown taught me we should cherish that and Charlie Strong showed this isn’t a guarantee. So, we’ve got that!

This team still has all its potential goals on the table in front of it, as unlikely as that sounds. I’ve never felt less likely to achieve those goals, but here we are.
We ain’t losing to no Mississippi State. Unless we play like we did 3 or 4 times in the first 7 games. Then we will. Here’s hoping they figure it out this week. Running out of time.

Fuck this offense.  Fuck this staff. Fuck sark. Fuck flood. Fuck all the pundits that said stupid shit like the most talented roster ever.   The entire offense should portal. Broke dick Kirk Johnson 2.0. Every lineman all the qbs.  It’s really cool to see bama back on top again and aggy undefeated and likely ranked number 2 after last season.

I dont think the line is as bad as it seems.  Arch has all day back there to throw it into people's ankles or take a sack 30 secs after the ball is snapped.

Hey if we get to 7-2 with this team I’ll be shocked and happy.

The schedule got real against UTEP.

I think this team can be be 9-3 going into the A&M game and for all of sark’s problems I think he gets rivalries. I think we handle A&M but miss the playoffs. We finish 10-3 and go to the Poulan weedeater holiday bowl. But we are 3-0 against our rivals.

That’s fair and could be tight(I don’t see how they beat either of GA or Vandy though to only have 3 losses) and hr would be enough to quiet a lot of the fair weather fans.

but they need to make changes.  An OC for Sark and an upgrade at QB.  Unless arch magically turns into at least Quinn Ewers level of QB.

10-3 is the ceiling. Texas will lose to Georgia, Texas could lose to MS St. Texas would lose to Vandy on the road but it’s at home. Texas beats A&M until proven otherwise. Something happens when A&M sees the burnt orange. So 8-5 / 7-6 is the floor.

pretty shocking really.

Our defense struggles against speed. Brenen Thompson has extra motivation in this game as well. MS St also runs the ball well enough to punish our suspect DL.

Florida tried its hardest to give them the game yesterday, but MS St was dead set on doing dumb shit to lose. No way should they have been throwing by that point of the game.

Either way, they played Florida much tougher in Gainesville than we did. Our guys probably think MsSt is trash too, so they won't play up to them until they gotta try and make a comeback.

Season ends in Starkville 27-17

Call me a loser with an aggy mentality but I would totally take that result.

At the end of the day the score was what I predicted.  I thought we would win by 3 cause thats what Sark does.  Now, I thought we would have a 2 score lead in the 4th and let them come back like we usually do but the result was what I expected.  I think a lot of people forget because we made it to the final 4 last year that Sark offenses win/lose a lot of games like this. Its no longer a small sample size, its who he is.

We couldn’t get to 200 yards of offense against fucking Kentucky. Everyone left will beat us if Sark rolls out a game plan like last night.

Or the QB plays as poorly and the line blocks as bad.

I don’t see an easy fix. It’s not as simple as “throw short quick passes” when the QB has proven he can’t hit them.

it’s not as simple as “run more outside runs” when the OK can’t block or will get called for holding.

the game plan may not have helped but I don’t think it was the main culprit.

I will bet you everything I own this team won’t be 9-3 going into aggy game. Coming out of it?  Sure- it could happen.

I appreciate the sentiment, but I don’t gamble on the outcome of any sports let alone the outcome of a game played by 18-22 year olds.

You missed the point. Aggy is game 12- we can’t be 9-3 headed into that game but can be headed out of it.

He fucks around mid season. Does it every year. This team is bad, but miss st and arky which could be losses should be wins. Georgia is a skull fucking, so that leaves Vandy at home. Yeah Texas could end up on a massive losing streak or win out except Georgia. It’s fucking wild how unpredictable this team will be down the stretch.

This scenario is possible.

And it'll make the loss against Florida all the more painful since it'll be the self-inflicted fuckup that keeps us out of the CFP.

There’s a world (I’m starting to think it’s greater than 50%) where 9-3 Texas makes the playoffs.
big 10 is a 3 big league. Miami and tech losing make it more likely the big 12 and ACC are 1 bid leagues. Domers are in. Group of 6 guppies are in.  That would leave 5 spots for SEC. In a world where we are 9-3 bc we lose at Georgia (if close loss) we will be 9-3 with wins over 3 top 10 teams (at the time we played them in aggy, OU and Vandy) and 1 score losses on the road to Florida, the 1 team in the country and a top 5 team in the country. We are also the most watched team in college football this year and they are putting on a TV show.
in that scenario it’s likely that Bama and Georgia finish ahead of us- while we would be the top 2 loss crew (aggy drops another one before us) so we’d have the tiebreaker- Ditto OU in their wildest optimistic dream finish, ditto Vandy for the same- we’d not have played LSU but whatever. Call it everyone actualizes and that’s the finish the SEC goes:

bama/georgia

bama/georgia

texas/aggy/OU/Vandy/LSU/mizzou.

they take 2 or 3 out of those. I think we’d be in.

Hard to argue but I would say that perception and the momentum of perception matters. Texas is still a team in decline this year, had Texas won by 3 scores yesterday that’s back to back 2-3 score wins in the SECx3 and the narrative is changing with perception that the Horns are figuring it out.  But eye balls and the Manning name certainly could vault a 3 loss Texas team to the playoffs for a one and done disaster.

Basically I think style points matters and Texas needs a few games like the OU game where it looks like Texas is pretty good. Last night was not that.

Agreed. That’s why I said better than 50% chance but not near certainty. If you were going to go 9-3 probably best to lose to Vandy and then finish the year winning at Georgia, Arkansas and aggy, point to the OU win and say- hey yall we best 3 top 10 teams and lost at #1 in preseason. No terrible losses. We need in. And you’d be on a bit of a run then if you did it that way.
We really need Vandy to beat Mizzou in Nashville next week for 9-3 Texas to be a thing.

Tell me what I said was wrong with any of that. I was doing an analysis on what 9-3 Texas chances were of making the playoffs bc someone else said it- not making any sort of prediction we’d go 9-3.
but- my contention is that’s our most likely outcome:

in order of likelihood I’d guess:

9-3

8-4

10-2

7-5

6-6

5-7.

I dreamed that both UT and aggy win out until Thanksgiving, and then UT beats aggy in the regular season, beats aggy in the CCG, and then beats aggy in the CFP.

I also dreamed that I had a threesome with Sydney Sweeney and Ana de Armas

You also once thought there was a bridge that you had more than enough clearance to drive an RV under. And you had zero concerns after the loss in Columbus.

It’s a message board, and while you’re certainly free to have an opinion, it’s not like you have a stellar track record in assessing situations or exercising sound judgment.

Anyone else here going to Starkville?

My niece has a boyfriend who really loves college football in broad strokes. Went to aggie but isn't a 2%er AT all. Pulls for his team, but loves the game and didn't even shit on Texas in 4 hours of hanging out.

They are moving to Nashville together. We talked in depth about the various SEC and non-SEC games we could attend. Memphis, Tennessee, Bama, MTSU, Louisville etc.

At one point I brought up Miss State. I said he's welcome to go but I won't join him for that one. Business has taken me there and even if Texas was dominating and undefeated this game would be the hard pass for the season.

That's a really long winded way of saying, fuck no.
