I think publishing that rumor the morning of game day is a bullshit move. Caught like wildfire and became a distraction for the HC and team.

I'll admit I'm not a podcast listener and the only social media I expose myself to is what gets posted here.  That said, if it wasn't for this thread I would have not heard jack shit about it.

Ok, I didn't watch the game until the 4th quarter as I was more interested in the Vandy / Missouri game so maybe the commentators on our game brought it up?

I don’t follow much except Texas and SEC football at this point. Yeah it was brought up in the Texas game, also post game, and the internet world X/twitter whatever covered it. Put it this way it was loud enough sark and his agents spoke directly to it. Doesn’t matter she was doing her job, can’t really hate on that. Hate on sark and the dumpster fire he’s creating.

Just to add to the frustration over Sark, he took two of the best QB prospects in years and under-developed them.

Meanwhile, the hefty one and his new OC down the road took Marcel Reed, who was a disaster last year, and just turned him into the Heisman front runner.

No one read the article. It's the specific tweet she sent, which currently has over 8 million views.

Everyone gives a fuck. We're Texas. That's why it became national news very quickly.

Back to back playoff appearances with a team that is currently 6-2 and while ugly still in playoff contention and some of you are ready to move on? I mean did some of you just become fans in 2020? We should have expected this team to take a step back due to lack of experience on both sides of the ball. It’s generally a young team. A lot of the blame for this season so far does lay at Sark’s feet but thinking we’ll get lucky and hire someone that can put the icing on the cake Sark baked seems like a pretty lofty expectation to me.

Theres two timelines at play here.

1. We lose another game and Sark goes to the NFL before early signing day after a loss. To save the roster we are forced to hire a James Franklin or other non playoff coach of similar ilk.

2. We sneak into the playoffs or CDC gets Sark to wait until playoffs start allowing the better coaches to lose out. Right now Florida is forced to hire somebody before Kiffin can make a decision.

Why the fuck would we hire a coach who is worse vs top teams than Sark?

Per CTJ and Bobby now sark isn’t getting another raise. If he wants to make more money and a nfl team is willing to take him that saves us potentially 30-40 million in buyouts going forward. It would be smart of us to waive the 10 million buyout to go to the nfl to help expedite this process if he wants to leave this season. That way we can get a jump on hiring the next guy, get them in place immediately after season and ready to hit the ground running with winter portal window. This is especially important because of all the opening and potential openings remaining.

Exactly. Relationships are important. Like her relationship with NFL front offices that possibly wanted her to leak it.
At this point, I think it’s pretty obvious that Sark’s reps were flirting with the Titans.
I could see a scenario like someone in the FO (which are usually cesspools) wasn’t onboard and called for a favor to create a shitstorm.

Maybe Sark is trying to be a good guy and transition faster. Obviously nfl teams can’t contact other nfl guys without permission or during the season(I think they can on bye weeks) but Sark is a college guy so it could be different?

So what if Sark sees UT merely as a stepping stone back to the NFL?

Some People honestly thought his plan was to stay here the next decade plus like Mack? Some People are ready to build a statue of him in front of the stadium bc of two good seasons?

even though he absolutely and unequivocally fucked around and found out the entire offseason since January 2025? With our money? And in the process of FAFO put our QB development in the crapper and added more complications to said QB development because of a shit O-Line that Sark did nothing in the offseason to address?

And some people are mad bc the press got scoop that Sark may want to go to the NFL soon and reported what they heard? But they ain’t mad at Sark? Nah.

His wanting to go to the NFL is actually a far this more favorable explanation for his absolute asswater dogshit approach to this season than it being about his hoe of a wife running an Amtrak on our players and his maybe relapsing and skipping out on the entire offseason bc of that?

but some people ain’t mad at Sark at that? They be mad at reporters for having the audacity to insinuate Sark never was going to retire here? Makes total sense. I guess it’s funny because some have such loyalty to a dude who has none for them. It’s a business to Sark. Period.

The problem with internet journalism is that it seems to have removed the penalty for false or inaccurate reporting in favor of fast scoops.

Mainstream news outlets used to spend a lot of their ad revenue on trained, ethical, quality reporters that generated accurate, informative, and well-written news.  Their reputation as an outlet was closely tied to their accuracy.

The internet gave "journalists" a national and highly visible platform from which they could scoop mainstream media and the more sensational the scoop the better.  Along the way, it seems to have extracted most penalties for inaccuracy or even flat-out lies.

And that has extended to mainstream media as well.

News broke on the evening news or in the morning paper back then. It wasn't instantaneous. I don't know how you fix it though. The entire system incents sensationalism and immediacy over accuracy.

Nice hot take.  Shows you’ve never been apart of a football locker room.  Sark might be headed for the NFL and I think it’s a fair criticism to say he didn’t do enough to fix the oline issues in the offseason. I personally don’t understand how you can let that happen in the NIL/portal era. But to insinuate that his whole time here has just been a stepping stone or ploy to get him somewhere else is baseless speculation at best.  Clearly you don’t remember the state of the program before he got here. He’s earned the right to fix the issues. To say it’s just a business to a coach like that doesn’t hold water. He’s put an incredible amount of time and effort into transforming the culture of the program.  You don’t get that from just using the team as a stepping stone.

Sure. He has earned the right to fix issues he has created. Been a longhorn fan since I was a little girl. I remember McWilliams and Make Us Sick and blah blah blah. This is year five of Sark era. He FAFO all offseason. If he takes the same approach to next year he can GTFO. I’m loyal to the University and the players and the Program. What culture do we have right now at this current time? What did he do in the offseason that we are struggling to beat Kentucky and Mississippi State? In OT? Sorry but I’m loyal to the school. And to Surly. Outside of that if Sark doesn’t want to be here it’s not because of fan criticism or bc of this board or how we feel about his absolute dogshit asswater approach to the 2025 offseason. I prefer he clean up his shit and do the kind of play calling we saw in the fourth quarter for every game and play the players that can play. And stay. And learn from his mistakes, adapt, admit he was wrong about certain things and either sit up in the booth to call plays or hire a OC. The last HC to win a MNC and be both a play caller and HC was Jimbo. Sark should know this and stop trying to act like he’s so elite he can win it all that way. He’s not because he is too stubborn to identify that he needs to change.

But if he wants out so what? I can assure you he’s not building little statues to all his oblivious fans.

culture transformed

let's see that fight hold up next week and beyond once it sinks in that sexton was sabotaging the program behind the scenes

this goes beyond absentee*/loreal issues - that stuff is personal

sexton fucked cdc, belmont and the cigars - even if sark wanted to go to the nfl - sexton should have kept his fucking mouth shut until our season was over - PERIOD

sexton is a parasite facehugger in the football business and has single-handedly transferred a billion dollars of donor wealth to coaches who did not earn it

if sark is committed to the 40 acres, he will fire sexton and renounce the athletic story with a COMPLETE DENIAL

for avoidance of doubt, the only way this goes away is if both of these things happen in the next 24 hours:

1. sark fires sexton

2. sark issues a complete denial of the athletic "story"

Yea I agree if he doesn’t fix the issues next season it’s a different conversation because then there’s a pattern developing.  They did win those games albeit they weren’t good performances.  Shows a lot about their character to not quit down by 17 in the 4th.  They could have easily done that and we’ve seen that under other coaches we’ve had here.  I do t know the answer to the sark play calling dilemma. You might be right.  I think Flood has to go now though. No excuse for an oline at Texas to be this bad in this era of college football.  Yea if he wants out I agree.  I don’t think anyone expects him to build statues as you say for them.  Doesn’t mean he hasn’t been invested in building this program.  The evidence speaks for itself the previous 2 seasons.

May have been why Sexton had to publicly retract yesterday.  Sexton and his team put out very informal feelers out there because they talked to Sark who was frustrated by the attacks on his play calling/pressure at Texas/struggles this year/personal bullshit he is dealing with.  The reporter came from the NFL so someone from Sark's camp reached out to some NFL people about it.  It's just a matter of who or why.

If we can have 4th quarter v Mississippi State Sark every damn game it would be awesome. But does Sark want to be that guy? That’s the main issue. In his play calling. This entire offseason was a clusterfuck. Outside of that I want the guy to succeed. And also there aren’t coaches just hanging from trees 🌲 with amazingness that we can be assured will work out. His personal stuff aside (who doesn’t have personal shit) my primary issue is his hands off quasi-fucked up approach to this entire season AND that he continually reverts back to default Sark mode putting us in game situations we don’t have to be in bc he wants to try other shit that doesn’t work. Outside of those two things and his failure to address a glaring Oline issue in the offseason I like him fine.
