Don't confuse my post count with activity.  I've been here from day one...and I'm not even talking about surly days.  The couple of people who know who I am would tell you that there might be a handful of people on here that knows as much about our team (or any other program in Texas) than me.  So go back to your rock and let me keep drinking in peace

Dear Mr. Gaffords,

As previously stated, you are a fine poster.  Possibly one of the finest evar.  Your posts are good enough for the Dallas community, even. I thank you for your attention, and thank you for your participation since Day One, and any Surly contributions.

Best Texas punt returner since… Metcalf? I think it’s worth a discussion.

Nathan Vashar was pretty good.

It was a good throw that took absolute perfection from Mosley to be completed in bounds.

It does, and it would have been the first thing Mack Brown would have mentioned. But that was actually one of the things about him I minded the least. He had a list of goals for each season and if the team accomplished one he celebrated it. That's not bad leadership. The issue was all the goals that weren't accomplished.

It's sad.  Actually a travashmockery that there are no pictures of said whores anywhere.

And it was made by an ice cold backup. Good thing Mosley was the WR he threw to

You guys can thank me for this win.  I was super sleepy because of being awakened at about 1:30 a.m. with a hailstorm in SA.  Just before half after Miss. St. scored, I gave up temporarily and went to take a rare nap.  I came back to the living room and there was about 4:00 minutes left in the third quarter and we hadn't scored a point in the 2nd half.

I did the same thing—went to take a nap at halftime.

Woke up and turned on the World Series. Didn’t know we won until just a minute ago when I switched it over to the aggy game to check the score and saw it on the scroll.

i couldn’t be more shocked.

It would have just been another incompletion if it weren't for a perfect play by Mosley. I mean, the refs called it incomplete live for a reason. Great hands and feet by #3.

Take a walk, man.

I left around half for dinner. I just Ffwd to watch the comeback.

They 100% changed in the 4th OL blocking schemes and didn’t bunch WRs and instead went spread. It gave Arch time and WRs a chance to burst off the line without getting interfered. Sark is probably too stubborn to be a motion guru to do this fukl time but with this line it’s the only way to succeed.

And next week with Caldwell starting vs a very mature defense it’s incredibly important.

Look I don't want to weigh in on Arch v Caldwell.

But I think we can all agree that after the last two semifinals that Caldwell > Ewers.  Ewers couldn't hit a fade to save his life

Wow the backup made the correct read and threw a catchable pass. Maybe you should take a walk.

I'd have to rewatch, but blocking schemes seemed simplified.  3-man zone, bigs on bigs.  We didn't rollout or do any of the slide/pull stuff.

Arch threw for 350 yards and 4 touchdowns and had ran for a first down in OT man.

Caldwell completed a predetermined 50/50 ball.

According to ESPN Research, the Longhorns were the first SEC team to rally from a 17-point deficit in the fourth quarter since South Carolina rallied from 17-0 down to beat Missouri 27-24 in two overtimes in 2013.

We can joke about bowl eligibility, but hell I'll take it. We aren't gonna make noise in the postseason this year, but the extra weeks of practice will help in the long run.

I watched the 2006 Rose Bowl with my dad and uncles.  During the 4th quarter when we were down big and things looked hopeless, Uncle Wes lost hope and drove home.  He was on the road during the comeback.  This man missed the end of what most consider one of if not the greatest football games ever played.  He left his bottle of Wild Turkey when he left.  My dad, my Uncle Russ, and myself drank it in glorious triumph after 4th and 5.

My son tried to leave the living room during the 3rd quarter of tonight's game.  I told him we watch every minute of every game.  No one wants to be the guy who left and missed VY's 4th and 5.

You should have seen him ringing his cowbell at the end.

Agreed. I’m too dumb to understand OL blocking patterns but it was definitely a major change from the first 3 quarters. Stretching the field out has to allow the defense to be accountable too.

It’s not a new or novel concept. Sark is too stubborn and wonky to take what is there.

Manning also QB'd the team to 61 total yards in the final 6 drives of the 1st half. Without Ryan Niblett, Texas is likely 1-3 in conference right now. Ryan Niblett is the team MVP right now and it isn't close. He also completed a pass Manning has struggled making all season.

Sark just said it was a game plan / RZ design the qb could call on the RPO with press coverage in the RZ. So Caldwell saw the coverage called it and Mosley picked it up ran it and TD.

That’s what an experienced backup can bring.  Good for him.

Wingo dropped 6 passed that would have been at least 1 TD and at least 50 yards. Arch threw 200 yards in the 4th. Another hit a WRs hands that would have been 20 yards and Arch went for 356 despite the drops.

Take this BS to the Arch thread and cuddle with O&W

Screenshot_20251025_192358_ESPN.thumb.jpg.efa841458abe72dd9dd7b33cba4ef436.jpg

Bro take the stat watching elsewhere.  We watch the game. Yes wingo dropped some balls. yes sark was calling a piss poor game plan for 3 quarters.

but make no mistake Arch was mediocre, at best, UNTIL the 4th quarter when he played his ass off.   He was just as much a culprit for being down 17 as sark the OL and the defense.

Sorry if we want more 4th quarter arch and not early arch. And NO it was not the game plan and bad OL that had him missing throws. Taking sacks he didn’t need too, and not seeing the open players.

31 minutes ago, BurntEyes said:

Take this shit to the Arch thread.

What happened on the first play Caldwell was in?

Who got us into position with a long  run for Caldwell to make the throw?

Who threw foe 356 yards despite 6 drops by Wingo, 76 yards rushing and getting pummeled all game.

Such a shit take.

You’re the one who gagging all over Arch Becuase you’d rather be right about Sark being the ONLY problem and not your sweet baby boy Arch.

he has not been good most of the year he does seem to play better late in games.  We want GOOD arch to show up more. I don’t know why that’s so hard to understand.

31 minutes ago, Carl Spackler said:

I didn't really interpret his comment as a dart at Arch.  He was simply expressing gratitude that Caldwell is a capable backup.

Arch didn't have a perfect day by any stretch, but he played winning football for the most part and was a helluva lot better than last week.  Hope he recovers quickly.

It wasn’t a shot. He’s just sensitive.

29 minutes ago, taybo20 said:

Not really. The best throw in the Florida game was Caldwell. But this isn’t about shitting in arch even tho you are taking it that way.

True.

28 minutes ago, BurntEyes said:

How do you interpret "I'm hopeful he plays next week?".

Maybe he means cause we're blowing out Vandy but it doesn't appear so.

Because some of us would like to see if another QB could maybe run the offense at a more consistent level? 🤷‍♂️

And you’ll notice not a single person has said he’s better than Arch.

26 minutes ago, BurntEyes said:

You want Caldwell to start over Arch next week, but that's not a slight on Arch after he threw for 200 yards in the 4th to win the game?

Okay, sure.

Now you're moving goal posts.

Fancy.

You’re the only one who can’t understand what’s happening.  He didn’t win the game alone. Just like he’s not losing games on his own.

and the backup did come in during OT and make a play.

24 minutes ago, taybo20 said:

I’d rather have 4th quarter arch than whatever showed up against Kentucky and the first 3 quarters of MSU. Hope you can understand that

All of this. And no he can’t understand.

22 minutes ago, BurntEyes said:

I'd like an HC who calls an offense that allowed for 4th quarter Arch all game long, so I think we've found an area of agreement.

Sure.  But Arch wasn’t playing that well either and it wasn’t due the playcalling or OL.

also you’re conveniently forgetting that Miss St stopped blitzing and rushing only 3 for a lot of the 4th. That had a lot to do with it as well I think.

20 minutes ago, BurntEyes said:

Of course you’d say that.

12 minutes ago, BurntEyes said:

Naw, pass was to Mosley not Wingo.

Atop your wingo hate. He had some drops but he’s the reason Arch had so many yards too. 184+ of them and on 2 of those 3 throws arch didn’t do shit but basically dump it to him.

Both can be true. It wasn’t a perfect throw. But it was good enough or it’s not caught at all.

There was a guy behind me at that game, likely a Surly poster, that bitched about all things Texas units the end of the 3rd.

When he left the game dragging his poor wife with him.

There was a small celebration in my area afterwards.

I'm absolutely certain he tells a different story and makes his wife cover for him.

Wish this argument was made more when diagnosing Arch's plays. But apparently everything is all on him.

You’ve never seen me say “it’s all on him” even though I seem to be the one pointed out as being hardest on him.

most have acknowledged the bad play calling, poor OL play and lack of run game as well.

but some like BurntEyes believes Arch is a poor little victim and nothing is his fault at all.

It’s a combination but the simple fact is we can not move forward with the QB play each shows 75% of the time.

You can say the same about the rest too.
