It will be interesting to see what Ohio State does with its upcoming OOC games.
2026: at Texas
2027: Alabama
2028: at Alabama
2030: at Georgia
2031: Georgia

If Texas is out, they should cancel all of those games quick, fast and in a hurry. As should Texas, etc.

Am I right?

Dude is mad because worthless Arkansas was worse than Florida and couldn't play spoiler to any team this year. That's all that Arkansas football has become.

tOSU can risk a loss because the Big Ten is so weak so if they drop either Bama or Georgia it will be hilarious.

Yep but it’s Ohio so they’ll probably keep them win most and make the playoffs each year regardless.  Fucking morons

This would look so fucking stupid after having them 2 spots below this week. Right up their alley.

This is too fucking much for humans to decide. Bring back the BCS with a 16 team playoff and no guaranteed G5 teams. Boise, Memphis, and James Madison better load up their Non con schedule. At least the BCS fucking followed the parameters it was given and didn’t make shit up along the way. With 16 teams who gives a fuck?

This is the worst committee I have ever paid attention to. Ill be hoenst, I have only paid attention since 2022. So small sample size, but good God, these people are the worst.

the idiocy of Hunter Yurachek is perfect for Arkansas.  so you rank teams and if they end up side by side, THEN you figure out if they played each other?

How about don't include the G5 at all.

Or the ACC and Big 12 for that matter.

I don't think they'll do it because the playoffs will expand to 16 teams in January.

If the ultimate point of the playoffs is to pit the 12 best teams in the country against each other to maximize competition and watchability (recognizing in its current form it’s still imperfect because we have to include automatics that have no business in the playoffs - like the NFL division winners despite their record), for fun let’s look at who might be real contenders in a true bracket. I’ll include the cuspy teams on the bubble (eg Vandy, Texas and Utah) as the “top 12 best teams” to compare head to head records against the “top 12”:

tOSU 1-0
Indiana 1-0
Georgia 2-1
Tech 2-0
Oregon 0-1
Miss 1-1
A&M 1-1
OU 1-2
Bama 2-1
ND 0-2
BYU 1-1
Miami 1-0
Texas 3-2
Vandy 0-2
Utah 0-2

Georgia, Tech and Bama could make a run. Those that haven’t played as many top teams are somewhat debatable. And some of these teams have no fucking business being in the mix.

I actually think tOSU with their “lackluster” win against us is questionable to win it all and repeat.

In short, total wins, and really losses, matter most at the end of the committee selection days

I guess if I am Vandy I am pissed OU is getting sucked off by the committee. That’s about it. We should put the above suggestions in a computer and see what AI can come up with I guess.

Counterpoint just bring back the BCS. This year the winner of tOSU-IU would most likely face either UGA or Tech. Or with real chaos maybe Ole Miss or Bama. Anyone could live with that even if not perfect. Everyone else has fun at their NY6 game.

Much more satisfying than squabbling over which 10-15 ranked teams that almost certainly won’t win anyway need to be in a playoff. NY6 games were fun and prestigious and most times the BCS got the matchup or at least the eventual winner correct (LOL not you Auburn).

Because, and here's the important part, college football is ridiculous.

The important part is that the same BCS fuckery and agendas are with us despite the “playoffs”. Remember how ND made it in despite their shitty resume before. The rigging hasn’t changed, the string pullers still run this diving score championship. “Settling it on the field” is bullshit sloganeering, as usual, double speak for “we will do what we want”.

No, that’s the whole point is multiple teams could win it this year. The problem is including 2 or 3 that can’t and don’t deserve to try.

You can't treat the P4 conferences equally. Until further notice, the ACC and Big 12 are significant steps below the SEC in terms of talent and overall program resources. Half of the Big 10 is solid but that still leaves 8-9 programs that really aren't worth a shit.

SOS has to be a much bigger factor moving forward, and overall W/L record less so.  I hate that this is what college football has become, but it's the only way to do it right.

About as accurate as the committee.…including the likelihood that 1 or 2 members probably needed reminding we’re no longer in the Big 12

The 12-team college football playoff format aims to include the most deserving teams based on their performance throughout the season, considering factors like win-loss records, strength of schedule, and conference championships.

Texas could be a strong candidate for inclusion in the playoff for several reasons:
1. Strong Season Performance: If Texas finishes the season with a high win total and competitive record, they will boost their chances. Key wins against ranked opponents can further enhance their credentials.
2. Strength of Schedule: Competing in the Big 12, Texas typically faces strong competition throughout the season, which can strengthen their playoff resume.
3. Quality Wins: Victories over other top-ranked teams, particularly in conference play, can demonstrate Texas' ability to compete at a national level.
4. Historical Significance: Texas has a rich football tradition, and their involvement in the playoff can attract interest from fans and enhance the overall profile of the tournament.

Ultimately, the inclusion of Texas would depend on their performance metrics compared to other contenders and the final committee decisions.

The power 2 has 8 of 12 teams. The other two may only get 1 each in to the playoffs. They're already getting the respect they deserve

To expound on this, just look at Texas 2026 schedule compared to Texas Tech. It's like we are playing in two entirely different levels of football.

Pretty much this, and the frustrating thing about this is it should already be common sense. Anybody that watches college football could tell you teams that are good enough and deserve to be in based on their resume. But therein lies the problem, these old fuckin geezers on the committee don’t watch the games.
