Bowl game preview from Adam Rittenberg:

Quote

Boise State Broncos vs. Washington Huskies

The Broncos didn't return to the College Football Playoff, but they still found a way to win the Mountain West for the third consecutive season. Two years ago, I picked Boise State in this game but UCLA took down the Broncos even though coach Chip Kelly had one foot out the door. Washington is a young, talented and somewhat confounding team, but I like the Huskies to use the bowl as a springboard toward 2026. Quarterback Demond Williams Jr. connects for two second-half touchdown passes as Washington pulls away late.

Prediction: Washington 37, Boise State 27

MENDOZA! Sorry had to do it. So happy for him. Carry on with bowl talk.

He seems like a nice kid, but I fear he's gonna look like Ted Cruz once he's middle-aged. It's mostly the nose, I think.

Been to this twice, 2023 Bruins v Boise, and whenever it was Oregon State v Utah St.  only times I’ve been to SoFi and both times in a suite.  Great stadium.  But not a college atmosphere.  Really hope the Bruins stay at the RB.

Nothing against UW, really, but always kinda liked BSU as a scrappy underdog and that win over OU cemented that.

When you don't have a dog in the hunt, rooting for a scrappy underdog is (or used to be) an American tradition.

Had floor seats for Blackpink (waifus decision) there this year and that place is unreal. Looking up from field level is crazy.

Looks like they're more than ready for UCLA football.

And fuck any bowl game that don't put the school names in the EZs.

This wasn't exactly a lovefest, was it.  But then Gronk had people like Johnny 8ball and Chinpubes hanging around, no doubt Brady wanted none of that idiocy.

It's wild to me that the Greater LA area (pop. 18M) can't fill up a 70,000-seat arena. That's like 0.39% of the population if I'm mathin' right. It shouldn't be hard to fill, even with both teams from out of town. You know? Just random CFB fans should be enough, but, as you said, you chose to stay at home instead.

That's not a judgment on you. It's just a testament to how little support CFB, as a sport, gets out there.

No one cares at all about college football here that I’ve seen. They like when USC or UCLA are good but not going to games. NFL fans are around because they bandwagon and it’s easy. Even USC vs ND I went to last year had empty sections. It’s a college football I didn’t go to college issue. But I think it’s a you have to be good thing to have a chance. All marketing  I’ve seen lately is focused on World Cup and Olympics

Definitely a local/regional culture thing. Living in a rural town nowadays, I know lots of folks who haven't gone to college but are diehard Longhorns, Aggies, or Red Raiders.

I know next to nothing about CFB fandom out there, but it's the "T-shirt fans" who pay the bills. I don't know what UCLA or USC do to ingratiate themselves with the community, but whatever they're doing is wrong.

Huge difference in being from west Texas and rooting for tech or Tyler and being an aggy guy, that’s not LA so they never cared. Saturday was for hiking and the beach. NFL Sundays matter here from I’ve seen over the years.
Also USC and UCLA do a lot to for the communities more than I’ve ever seen for a college anywhere I’ve lived but football and sports in general isn’t pushed

That was an easy TD
