i think this is the second or maybe even third time there have been victims involved in multiple school shootings... some kid that was in Sandy Hook elementary school was also at either Oxford HS or MSU shooting, and i think there was also someone from Parkland at MSU.

i mean that's literally just fucking insane.

Just remember, everyone. It's not the guns. It's the people.

Guns have every right to exist on this planet, just like every other living thing. They are born innocent, having survived millions of years in a harsh eco-system, just fighting for their own survival. We chose not to leave them alone, we humans invaded their habitats and plucked them from their idealistic environments. Guns are the very definition of life. When the human race dies off, the guns will survive. Just like God intended.

Here was Loomer's original tweet. I've been noticing a trend lately where Twitter engagement whores "break" news with embedded video, but the actual video does not corroborate their written posts. The Fox News reporter said the shooter yelled something, but no one knew what he actually said. Loomer ran with "Alluha Akbar" and it went viral all day on social media.

Maybe I'm giving her too much credit, but when she said "how come the media is suppressing..." I think she meant that clip.

Correct. And the ear of Donald Trump.

I think you're right, but her first sentence still presents it as BREAKING that "Allahu Akbar" was used while embedding a video that most people probably didn't watch. It's still misinformation, if not disinformation.

Not to single you out but one of the sad/tragic ironies of the gun violence “debate” between political progressives and political reactionaries is that neither of them are willing to willing to politically confront the *causes* of gun violence in ways that would actually reduce gun violence.

Sure all the dems will go around finger wagging about the assault weapons and  “the next mass shooting,” for a few days each time, but in between you only rarely hear a thing from them about the 25-30k people who will die of a self-inflicted gunshot wound this year. That’s not a priority.

Republicans are worse than Democrats in part because they want to make the problem worse, but neither party takes a more serious approach than the other towards prevention. It’s one of the reasons I can’t call myself a Democrat anymore. They aren’t just politically incompetent, they are also completely unserious about addressing the actual causes behind many of the problem they (unsuccessfully) burn political capital to fix.
I’m sorry this happened at Brown. I’ll be sorry about the next time too. Our politics are broken and nobody cares. Thoughts and prayers, as the saying goes. The red version and the blue version.

Also it looks like social media "sleuths" initially doxxed the wrong Benjamin Erickson in Wisconsin, his face and info is still being plastered all over Twitter. Fuck Elon and his idiotic "citizen journalism" bullshit.

I wasn't on the internet much this weekend and didn't see this until this morning.

The repeat involvement in school shootings by some of these people is absolutely wild to me. The amount of psychological trauma would be pretty bad to survive two.

I forget who it was on one of the Sunday shows, but they said yesterday morning that “Officials wouldn’t be speaking about the suspect so definitively if they weren’t sure they had the right guy”.

Oops.

The trump administration makes the most progress whenever people make the presumption of regularity. It gives MAGA the constructive cognitive dissonance to reflexively believe any news is just librul bias and TDS and reject their lying eyes.

Then in the meantime they operate like a bunch of slapdick idiots and it all gets handwaved away with a whatabout or facile #bothsides

It's one of the (many) things about Trump that I fucking hate.  His level of involvement in every damn thing is aggravating.  POTUS shouldn't chime in on everything that happens every day, all day, all the fucking time.  His obsessive need to "Look at me!  LOOK AT ME!" constantly is exhausting.

Yep.  In a functioning Republic, 99% of Americans should be able to go a week without even remembering we have a president, or hearing a single word from him.

Just like any other large organization.  You should just go about your day and do your job.  If the CEO is shouting in your ear three times a day about every little thing down to the brand of coffee creamer in the break room, you work for a shitty, shitty, REALLY shitty company.

Was banned all weekend so didn't come here and didn't know about this or Rob Reiner. Can I just go ahead and get banned for the rest of this week too?

It's amazing that we are living in the "dystopian future" that was depicted in all those decades old novels and movies, but the majority of citizens are too stupid to realize it because we don't have the flying cars and laser guns.

It's like the pioneer and wilderness days. Getting through our education system 5-22 years old is like taking the Oregon Trail, not everyone will make it. It's literally insane and tragic and sad and infuriating
