Got a little rough with the hamburger.

I thought we weren’t kink shaming around here?

I was drinking beer and eating a burger at 2pm on a Thursday.  No stress lol.  It’s mushed because I has just cut it half.

I never made it by because $20 for a double smashburger and fries just didn't seem that compelling when I have the Crown, Billy's, Workhorse, Dirty's and a couple other places all within the same distance. I doubt anybody is really surprised by this development.

They posted a special I really want to try:

This month’s burger of the month is a true homage. It’s a Cuban sandwich with a burger in the middle. Roasted pulled pork, sliced ham, deli pickles and mustard would have been enough, but we added our burger and pineapple chutney. Now it’s a Jewboy Cuban (Yes, I considered calling it the Jewbano, but I might be saving that one for the Sub Shop.)

Overall, pretty damn good burgers.

How was the event, or more specifically was it a bunch of waiting in line for food? These types of events have been real hit and miss for me. Worth keeping an eye on for next year?

There were long lines for several vendors - NABC, La BBQ and Jewboy off the top of my head, but overall, pretty short lines and very little wait.  I gorged myself and didn't have another bite to eat the rest of the day.  I will say that it started at noon and was already packed at 12:15 when we got there.  $55 seems a little steep to me, but whatever - good time had by all.  Didn't eat a single bad bite of burger. The floor was pretty high for quality/taste.

Pro Tip:  Go inside and snag a tray or pizza box, load up all your sample burgers, and take them all inside to enjoy w/ a beer.  We got a spot directly under a Big Ass Fan and it was heaven compared to the zero shade standing in the lines.

first visit to hank's. half price burgers on monday, $7 for a solid diner style burger and fries. at that price it was great but wouldn't pay $14.

This is the burger deal of the century.  Seriously good 1/2 pound charbroiled burgers, $3.99 a la carte all day every day.  $4.99 with American cheese.  The place is called Bon Aire, just west of Burnet and 183.  They also have shrimp, a few kebabs, toasted (cheese) ravioli, wings, brats and fries.  The fries aren't worth it, get a veggie kebab instead.  I'm going for the toasted ravioli next time.  (It's a St. Louis themed neighborhood bar, nothing fancy, just a bunch of TVs, some decent beers, and a small menu.  No takeout.)

Yup it's good.  My folks live a block away, the same house I grew up in, and I've met them there a couple of times.  Killer deal.

$3.99 for a half pound burger

$7.99 for a six ounce vegan burger

hahaha

I'm not sure why anyone would eat that plant-based crap, but it does tend to cost a lot more than ground beef.

Well, cost of growing it in a lab has to be high.
