  7. The GOP has no ideas. When that’s where you are, then there’s only one path forward: 1) deny that actual problems even exist (climate change is made up, income inequality is meaningless, etc), 2) create a narrative of things that aren’t really problems, which also conveniently a) demonize those who are likely to be aligned with your political opposition, and b) bolster your contributor base, then 3) make solving those non-problems your entire platform (“brown people are coming to kill you! We need to build a wall, and look extra-hard at the ones living here, because they’re probably sneaky liars! Also, we need a tax cut for rich people to stimulate the economy, because this time it will work and Lucy won’t pull away the football, we promise!”) They’re not even clever. Unfortunately, neither is their base, so they fall for it all.

  9. Those of you acting like McCoy's situation is a more dangerous precedent than Martell's are out of your minds. You think it's a bigger threat to the status quo to approve an early enrollee's transfer prior to class registration closing at the new school than it is to approve a transfer of a third year player because the head coach changes? McCoy's situation might affect a maximum of a half dozen players on a team. Martell's would make the entire roster of a football program free agents if the head coach leaves. The question of whether free agency is a problem that should be stopped is a separate discussion.

  10. Show me the guy on the right blasting corruption and the harm of citizens united and I’ll fawn all over him too. Show me a guy on the right that sees the science and says we have to do something meaningful and drastic otherwise the world order will be upended not by Chinese economic growth but by vastly different weather patterns in 100 years and I’ll fawn all over him. Show me one guy on the right doing both and I’ll give him money.

  11. I went back and looked at the timeline of the 2019 Class and as usual the aggy narrative fell apart completely. Herman and Co got a few early stud commits but also just did a better job of early evaluation on kids that no one else was paying any attention to. Some early takes that were WTFs at the time turned into senior season monsters. And Herman went OOS for positions that were thin in Texas from the very beginning. Roschon Johnson committed in 2017, before his junior year even began. T'Vondre Sweat, Jordan Whittington, De'Gabriel Floyd, Kenyatta Watson II, Brayden Liebrock, Tyler Johnson and Jared Wiley all committed before the end of their junior year. 3 of them came from OOS very early. Thus dies the aggyfact(TM) myth that Herman was FORCED to go that route. Over the junior to senior year summer Jake Smith, Chris Adimora, Peter Mpagi, Marcus Tillman Jr and Marques Caldwell joined the class. Herman already had the core of a Top 10 class before the season started - arguably a Top 5 core. The silly delusion of aggy that they were dictating anything or shutting anyone out is just part and parcel of the pathological narcissism that permeates that place. They couldn't be content to achieve something on their own. They STILL had to make it about The University and they lied to themselves to do it.

  15. lol You fellas have no idea about all the sizing shenanigans that have been going on for decades with women’s clothing. And don’t get me started on the inconsistency, even within the same brand. I bought some jeans at Old Navy recently and depending on the cut of the leg (boot, straight, ankle) I wore anywhere from a size 4 to a size 8. There is no reason one body should have a three size variance in the same fucking brand. And then there’s the whole boyfriend cut and rockstar cut and curvy cut and flare cut and power cut. And then there’s skinny jeans, which are a whole other circle of hell. And fuck you if you’re short like me. At 5’3”, I don’t think I’ve ever bought a pair of jeans that didn’t have to be hemmed. Because the short length or petite cut don’t fall right and make me look stumpy and ankle length cuts hit the top of my shoes and look stupid. Seriously, buying women’s clothing is actual hell. So when your ladies buy the same thing in 7 different colors, there’s a real reason besides being a spendy bitch. It’s because if we find something that looks good and fits right, by god give us one in every color made because we may never find a pair of cute work pants that look good again. And there’s your totally unwanted insight into the insanity that is womenswear. And PS - the more expensive the brand is, the more bullshittery there is with the sizing.

  17. My yellow lab of 11 yrs passed away a few months ago. Hadn’t thought thought too much about getting another dog since then—she was perfect and just figured it’d happen when the time was right. So I guess today the time was right. Happened upon a 1-2 yr old chocolate lab, great with kids, and all-around loving dog. So, say hi to Charlie!

  19. much like cardinal directions, thermostats, or finances, the wife has no concept of how the syndication of TV shows work. If a show she watches that is still current on a network comes on an independent channel, utter confusion ensues..." I thought that came on Thursdays? Why is that kid so small now? Why didn't the DVR start?"

  26. What’s so bad about establishing this as precedent? If he’s able to make to another school in time to be a full time student in the same semester, why does it matter? He hasn’t lost any time towards his degree and he never even put pads on for USC. Seems like forcing him to sit out is just enforcing a rule for rule’s sake, without any actual consideration for what the rule was meant to prevent.

  27. You elected a man who inherited 400 million and declared bankruptcy multiple times. A man who has scandal after scandal and created a fake teaching institution to enrich himself at the expense of students while trying to present himself in the image of Rockefeller. A man who gets mocked and clowned at every international meeting and who has failed at every ‘deal’. You elected cadet bone spurs to this nations highest office and have the hubris to attack a freshman congresswoman who has very limited power. You probably think John Wayne was a bad ass too. Your side has this fascination with calling others ‘cuckolds’ since someone read a book, and yet roger stone.....

  29. I agree that he is no one to fear, but we have to accept that the data suggest that Jimbo is generally a successful coach. His national championship was in his fourth year— pretty much his guys in his system at that point. His win totals, all comers, are 10, 9, 12, 14, 13, 10, 10, 5, 9. His first season (10 wins) followed a 7 win campaign. His last one was at a new school so again he could be compared. He won the same number of games, but improved the mean scoring differential from 1.3 to 7.2, won his (lower tier) bowl in a blowout, and improved the final ranking from NR to 16. He followed that up with aggy’s statistically best recruiting the era of online rankings, grabbing Leal and Wright along the way. Looking at all of that data, the 5-win season looks like a bit of an outlier. Tucked against a 13 and a 12, the 14 looks less like one. For a number of reasons, I think we under Herman will fare much better than aggy under Jimbo. I don’t happen to believe, however, that one of those reasons is, “Jimbo hasn’t accomplished squat without Jameis.” Given that FSU continued to get worse after he left, I think a reasonable summary is that he has the ability to succeed, but that catastrophic program rot after circa 5 years is not unforeseeable.
