What fuck happened in this thread? What’s been posted on these last 2-3 pages is one tiny hair’s width away from being on par with scat porn. Did someone unplug Machinator? Are there updates with our recruits this morning? Shit.9 points

this. Pre-game in the Rice village bars/restaurants, walk over for the tailgate, and watch the game in a historic stadium on a beautiful campus. Fuck the NFL stadium. It would be a great time.9 points

Cross posted from the Joseph Ossai thread. Lulz. Csb. Back when I was working for the state as a computer operator the feds wanted some data to analyze from our medicaid utilization files. These files were 40 to 60 tape reels long. And the feds wanted data from years of these files. Boxes and boxes and boxes of tape reels. We didn't have any excess capacity on our two IBM 370/158 mainframes to extract the data that the feds wanted as we were running both 158's at 110% of capacity. UT had CDC computers so we couldn't use them. None of the other state agencies had excess capacity either. aggy was an IBM shop and had excess capacity so we contracted with them to extract the data. We sent the programmer that wrote the extract program and jcl over to aggy with the tapes to oversee the extracts. This went on for several months. During this time aggy was in the process of upgrading their mainframe. aggy chose Amdahl mainframes to replace their IBM mainframes. Amdahl was an IBM 370 clone that was faster and cheaper than IBM's 370s. So while our programmer (a Horn) was in aggy's computer center Amdahl rolls up with a truckload of new mainframes, unload them and the Amdahl SE's start installing them. SE's get em installed and hooked up and start putting the panels on the cabinets that housed the mainframe hardware. Here are some pics of Amdahl mainframes of that era. When aggy saw the panels they went ballistic and demanded that Amdahl replace the hideously offensive panels with ones of another color. Amdahl told aggy that that was the color they came in that there wasn't any other color. aggy then told Amdahl that either they replace the panels or haul their goddamn t.u. colored computers the hell out of there. Amdahl got some maroon spray paint from Gibsons and covered up the t.u. orange. Our programmer saw and heard it all and reported it back to us and we all had a good laugh. http://archive.michigan-terminal-system.org/discussions/published-information/x1c28amdahlupdatenewsletter1985 aggypedia you may use this story if you wish.7 points

You all will be pleased to know that in the future Semi-benevolent Dictatorship of Brisketexan (I figure I’ll weather the apocalypse, and then rise to power astride an up-armored 1999 F-150), throw pillows will be banned. Completely. Along with serving cobbler without ice cream and red beans and rice without sausage. In fact, the death penalty may be in play on the throw pillow thing. They are a device meant to make a sleeping place (a bed) unusable for sleeping, and a sitting place (a couch) unsuitable for sitting. They are evil, diabolical, sick, twisted, and they must go. God, how I hate them.7 points

George Will: Collectivist and distributive economic plans might very likely be a gradual necessity twenty years from now, with careful implementation of course, but current market infrastructure will provide poor to a non existent transition to such a reactionary shift in policy. Current GOP: They're soytarded, cuck fags, right? George Will: Uh, well ... Current GOP: And if those tardo pussies think they're gonna take my guns they'll get a bullet right in the fucking face! George Will: Sure, uh, interesting sound bite from candidate O'Rourke, for instance, to coincide with your concerns there. From a strategy perspective, presidential campaigns based on "what I'll take from you" rather than "what I'll do for us" is a disadvantaged leverage point, regardless of the context within the issue. In spite of overwhelming polling data, even among conservative circles, that was a poor presentation and I imagine we'll see him walk back such an aggressive and overbearing appearance. Current GOP: They're all faggots! They can eat a bag of dicks! George Will: I'm gonna go grab my sixth glass of scotch and drink it on the drive home. You guys take it easy. Good luck.6 points

Hey, Rice undergrad checking in (UT MBA). Yes, Rice has had cheerleaders at least for the past 25 years or so since I've been a fan. You probably hadn't noticed them because of their looks. The pool of Rice co-eds consists primarily of A) national merit scholars who can be found exclusively in the library B) feminists/political protesters/hairy pit angry women C) athletes and D) the smart nerd / average looking girl who was on the dance team in high school and always wanted to be a cheerleader but couldn't make the high school team. Group D is the only available one to recruit Rice cheerleaders from.5 points

It's a lose lose situation AND after Bleachergate certain members of the UT Admin have no desire to play them ever again. Cougar High fans are annoying as fuck and I get little joy playing them or beating them whereas losing results in extreme displeasure. Playing Rice is enjoyable because their fans are relatively intelligent, know their place, and often work with us or went to grad school with us at other institutions so they're our friends. It also has a gravitas lended to it by JFK and the Apollo Missions (see the 50th anniversary celebration of the moon landing). Their band is also pretty funny. In addition we get all the benefits that would come with playing Cougar High with none of the drawbacks. Rice should become a permanent yearly "rivalry" with some NASA/Moon/JFK related name and trophy that is played at NRG every year so that we have a game in Houston. Every year around that time we could use the game to emphasize our engineering/science programs and academics to recruits, students, and the general public. Get Moriba Jah to land us another blue chip lineman. It'll be a free win most years, a great recruiting game, and a nice treat for the Houston Texas Exes/Longhorn fans.5 points

This state is a god forsaken vortex of shit weather where the human spirit routinely triumphs over talent or merit then drowns it in alcohol to spit in the face of the universe and dare karma to fuck it even harder just to prove we can take it. Holy shit, pass the Tylenol.5 points

Those are bodybag games that we pay them ~1 million to come to DKR with no return game. Plus they are part of the UT system so we have a vested interest in helping them. Not sure what you’re arguing here. Is Houston better than UTEP/UTSA? That’s obvious, but why play them? First they fucked us hard the last time we gave them a home game. Second, it’s a no win position as we get no credit nationally for beating them (see Oklahoma this year) and national shame for losing to them (see Oklahoma three years ago). Third, they are a shitty commuter school that threw a shit fit when we tried to open a graduate extension campus in the largest city without a UT university. Fuck them.5 points

Well, obviously. That'll be the question all year long. But theirs has been bad against bad teams. We should be able to hang 50 on them if we need to. Also, our defense shut out two bad teams for 3 quarters. The only damage they did was in the 4th against our backups. I think LSU has us all thinking the sky is falling when maybe it's not.4 points
