That thread should definitely be in the DT forum. Just call it “the road trip thread to piss on trumps grave - no politics allowed!”16 points

Well I knew this day was coming but it still sucks. Tomorrow this guy will cross the rainbow bridge just a little under 13 years is a hell of a run for a rottie. Still hurts like hell.14 points

Look, the Emperor isn’t really my cup of tea. He killed a lot of people and I really wish he would stop doing that crass maniacal laugh thing while he shoots lightning bolts out of his fingers. But Obi Wan Kenobi? That wizard is just a crazy old man. The tie-breaker for me is that Kenobi will take away our blasters because they’re “uncivilized.”13 points

Where are my prayer warriors?!? Prayer can fix college football and the coronavirus, just like it solved gun violence and school shootings. Also, while you are praying, can you mix in a request for a couple of UCLA Asian-coeds for me?10 points

It amazes me the ability this place has to make smart people real fucking stupid, at least temporarily, or just myopic as fuck. And I’ve only been posting here a couple months. But I know @The Doghas been on all these threads, sharing articles and posting some insight (specifically about polling if I remember correctly) and has been railing on a Trump the entire time. He’s obviously a political junkie. He says one thing people here don’t like and literally he’s painting as a Trump follower and then a fucking Nazi within 5 posts. Jesus fucking christ. Are the democrats as dirty as the republicans? Almost assuredly not today. But they’re politicians so yeah, I’m sure they’re plenty dirty. I live next to Shelia Jackson Lee’s district. Let’s not pretend gerrymandering hasn’t gone the other way before. Tammany Hall and Chicago politics were/are both Democratic institutions. We may need these people to step up and be Heroes of a sort right now, but let’s not make the mistake of believing most of them are actual heroes.10 points

this election isn’t about the differences between biden and trump, it’s a referendum on the trump presidency. after 3.5 years, if you need a debate to decide whether you want 4 more years of this, then you should be living in a room with padded walls with limited access to sharp objects. trump is flailing and desperate. because he fucking should be.9 points

Yeah, no. The GOP should not be allowed control of anything at the federal level right now, nor any time in the next generation, minimum.9 points

You seem weirdly insistent that there's a time and place where it's normal and fine for a white dude to say the n-word. Certainly not a fireable offense given the context that's come out, but come the fuck on that was rock stupid.8 points

For all those wondering, this is my son Wendie Malick. We share no blood but he is my life. He came from Cuba (legally, of course) six years ago and lives with me in Virginia. I am so proud of him and raising him has been the best, most rewarding thing I’ve done in my life.7 points

Rode the Pathfinder all over Apalachicola Bay Sunday and caught about 15 trippletail. Only two keepers though. This was the biggest one. My partner boogered up the hook set on a third keeper. Still learning the trippletail game.7 points

I'm starting to get to this point. NFL should have a farm system for 18-21+ year olds. Pay them whatever the market bears. College sports, assuming they continue to exist, should be low dollar endeavors. As a huge college sports fan, that's tough to say. But the college athletics system has become bloated, bureaucratic and really strange.7 points

There was a study cited in a book that I believe the title of is “Racism Without Racists.” In that book it cited that white flight is triggered when as little as 7 percent of the neighborhood is populated by African-Americans. SEVEN FUCKING PERCENT of the neighbors being black is enough for white people to throw up their hands and declare a neighborhood to be unlivable in and thus a move to a further out suburban neighborhood is necessary in their racist-addled minds. African-Americans are not the problem. Other minorities are not the problem. A smaller police force is not the problem. White people still being terrified of co-existing and living with black people and other minorities is the problem. It’s a racist behavior, but it’s covered up under the auspices of safety.6 points

I call dibs on the thread to organize a road trip to piss or dance on his grave. Think it needs a separate thread, maybe in Daily Texan with no politics.6 points

We keep taking advantage of the kinder nature of people like you on the front lines until such time as a vaccine becomes available that will be taken by "morons" to eradicate the disease while these geniuses go on about how their freedom is being taken from them. We've officially entered territory where the bare minimum of do the right thing has become anathema to a whole segment of our population. Aggy provides many good examples of this line of thinking. It used to be pretty accepted that your rights end where my rights begin, but these people have moved past that, they now believe their rights do not end, whether or not they are infringing on your rights at all. In short, they don't give a fuck about rights. They only want the freedom to impose their will on their surroundings, and damn the consequences to others. Others don't matter. It's disgusting. It's sickening. It's depressing.6 points

Basically, all these imaging findings are things we see with heart attacks and other reversible and irreversible sequelae of cardiac damage. We are very focused on mortality (people dying) but largely ignoring morbidity (serious illness). That makes sense since the horror of what is occurring is hard to fathom but I think we'll see a lot of chronic illness and disease in covid survivors (no hard data, just my own conjecture based on observations taking care of these patients). I see lung inflammation similiar to what I'd see in autoimmune and inflammatory processes in the lungs of "asymptomatic" young patients. My guess is they have a functional reserve which isn't exceeded and therefore feel "fine". It's akin to smoking. You don't really have problems with COPD and emphysema due to destruction of your lung until you've had a few years of exposure (generally, not including more acute episodes). We've had reports of young patients (under 20) with arrythmias (funny heartbeats) after full recovery. We've had neuropsychiatric issues with corresponding abnormal brain MRIs in young patients. In fact, one of the big issues is strokes in patients who are in their 20s. I worry about our children and long term effects of infection as well as even those patients who have recovered to date. We are making big, long term decisions with a minimal amount of data, a lot of wishful forecasting, and a fucking incompetent and disingenous leader who even now, can't find a tiny bit of decency and try to do the right thing and at least get out of the way of the people who should be leading our response.6 points
