Where I stand on trans people is this. I do not understand what they are going through, but ultimately, they are entitled to the pursuit of happiness, and if this makes them happy and it doesn't hurt anyone else, who the fuck gives a shit?17 points

I came here to literally debunk this POS. EIA data when it comes to Texas is fucking horrific. EIA data is based on the Utility Data and rates across the country. That means that when they evaluate rates in Texas, there's 2 ways it can go completely sideways to the point of uselessness, and they both fucking suck. The first way it's worthless is they have no insight into the rates offered in the markets from REPs in deregulated areas. That means that there's an extremely tremendous chance they're literally making a blanket statement about all of Texas without having any rate date from any deregulated area, including Houston or the Metroplex, Corpus Christi, etc. So not only are they painting a picture for all of Texas with only 50% surveyed, they're shitting on the premise of deregulation without taking into account any data from actual deregulated areas of Texas. It's like painting everyone from Texas as an Aggy when you've never met a Longhorn. It's stupid. Now, if they do actually find a "utility" in these areas to include, that would be Reliant and TXU, the two consistently highest priced REPs in Texas. Specifically, this POS formula from their article: Listen, retailers aren't giving the EIA their data. So if they mean Reliant and TXU, it's just horseshit. And that doesn't even BEGIN to take into account the people who've remained with a provider like Reliant and TXU for 20 years because they never bothered to learn any better. Those people have been paying 20 cents per kWh for a decade plus. So it doesn't even begin to examine the benefits that come from people who shop the market for good rates. Don't negotiate your cable bill for 5 years and see what it looks like compared to now. Bottom Line: EIA Data in Texas fucking sucks and is worthless. It's the Donkey Cigar/FakeBusiness kind of disingenuous.11 points

aggy and Sooner fans talking shit about Gideon need to get used to the idea that he's a fucking tireless recruiter and that once he connects with a kid that shit is going to go one way.11 points

While Herman had some built in advantages in these recruitments (Angleton alumni for Foster, Lamar's DB coach for Cook/Jamison), some of this is weird revisionist history from Super K; Green, Overshown, and Sterns didn't have Texas connections and were being recruited by every school in the country. Also, schools didn't cool on Foster, they just knew he was a Texas lock, and LSU was pushing for Cook until the end and most national recruiting people thought LSU would land him11 points

Should have used hyphens - I thought it was like this guy got sentenced to be killed by a gender reveal device. Although guys who go along with shit like gender reveal parties deserve it.11 points

Yes the reason I believe that the R/S is real, is I went through this whole rollercoaster of emotions with QUTR/BRRN and chose poorly IMO 1) SEC filings led us to believe Swiss Billionaire Investment Firm was merging in. This eventually played out and we were correct. 2) NVSOS filings for name change to Born Inc and 1:1000 R/S 3) Many people posted shady looking screenshots, I myself picked them apart and said they seem like bullshit. Narrator: They weren't 4) R/S showed up in FINRA, and people bailed plummeting my investment to 50% of it's previous value 5) I thought hey Swiss Billionaires who were early on PLUG and made a fortune, maybe it's worth holding on because the value is the same just less upside. 6) Held through split and ended up with 400 shares and got charged a fee by TDA to reverse split the shares (which is bullshit if you ask me, but TDA don't give a damn) 7) Shares actually went up and I could have exited at a wash, but I thought hey look at me I was smart and didn't get shook out. 8 ) Nothing followed the rise, no PRs, no filings, silence. and it bleddddddd out back down to 40% of my original value. 9 ) I decided to hold until something happened, which took 4 or 5 months where it bled some more, but popped up a little on an 8k so I thought maybe finally I'd get back around to making some money. 10 ) The 8k was to say that the company was a fashion app for rich people to buy rich people fashion stuff. Not what I signed up for I sold at 40% value, it's now 4x less than that. This may be completely different, but more and more this looks like the Lazar playbook. For XMET I thought that the Share Reduction Theory (which still seems right to me) might shelter it, but nope we've been through steps #1 - 3 so far exactly the same. It cost me about $50k - $70k in additional potential profits to find out if this would be different. I think I can accept that risk when the reward might have been magnitudes more, and I'm still walking away with $50k and a 1M share insurance plan if I'm just dead wrong. Going to start my ROTH IRA project with that and pay off the house...9 points

There are some issues raised by the collection of data by the FBI. I'm happy as a clam for Congress to be on the wrong end of it, they're the ones who fund it and basically authorize it. But, hey, if you didn't do anything wrong, what do you have to worry about? Amirite?9 points

Liberty is a 2 way street. Why should SD have the same say as CA in deciding whether the 39 million people in CA have to send their sons off to die in a war? Are the sons of SD worth more than the sons of CA? And that's the real problem. The rural states have their check on the urban centers. The urban centers have no check on the rural states. Checks need to work both ways. Eliminating the EC would do that. In 2016, the GOP controlled the House, Senate, and Presidency and didn't win the combined popular vote in any of the 3. This is the definition of a tyrannical minority. By eliminating the EC in 2016, you'd have a GOP Senate, and House, and President Clinton. And if that Senate and House executed their constitutional powers dutifully, they would check President Clinton as the Constitution prescribes. And without the EC, the only time you would ever have a Presidency and Senate controlled by the same party is when we are all pretty much on the same page. The normal majority party would need an overwhelming majority to get it done, and the normal minority party would need at least a simple majority to get it done. There would never be minority rule and there should never be minority rule. And this is actually what the founders envisioned. And a lot of this has been made worse by the fact that rural states elect people that don't do anything at all for them. Not a single South Dakota elected Republican gives a shit about South Dakotans. They were elected to punish urban states rather than improve South Dakota. And in Texas, the Ted Cruz out front should have given this away to you. He doesn't give a fuck at all about Texas, but he tries to punish NY every chance he gets. If the supposed rural states actually elected people that gave rural states a chance, maybe it would be a different story. Most urban voters understand the necessity of welfare and are willing to apply it by state as well as by person. But that isn't the country we live in. We live in one where rural states elect people to punish urban states and now we all hate each other because of it. Its entirely unsustainable. There are now many scenarios that could occur that would end the nation fairly quickly because of it. If I was in charge of China, I'd be making hyper aggressive moves in Asia already. We simply don't have the ability to tolerate a draft as a people anymore. And as long as they keep it away from our land and waters, we would descend into civil war before we unified against an external threat. Texas doesn't deserve AOC giving a fuck about y'all, but she does. That's the type of people we elect. You elected Ted Cruz. So who exactly needs to be checked?8 points

Being a South Texas Hispanic from the border I’d like to reply: the recent voting in the presidential election that favored trump or an increased voter total in his favor is not easily explained looking at the numbers only. For example, in Laredo, a large portion of the population works in the oilfield or for border patrol. The oilfield allows many who would otherwise be working a dead end job the opportunity to earn great money. I have no issues with people making money but their lack of education or ability to use critical thinking with regards to understanding policies that would either help or hurt their profession added to the increased support. In their minds, Biden (democrats) were going to end oilfield/fracking work for good when in reality Biden’s stated agenda for fracking was not to issue new permits on federal land. That lie was parroted on Facebook and in the news by right leaning news outlets and spread like wildfire in Laredo. Regarding BP, it provides a great paying federal job for many that wouldn’t otherwise qualify for such a high paying government job. One of my cousins, literally known in the family as not the brightest of his siblings, is now a recruiting supervisor after about 10 years experience. I remember he would brag about how he didn’t have to go to school and is still taking home over 100K while I was struggling to get through undergrad and law school. Many friends that became agents would brag about getting paid to sit in their Tahoe’s and watch movies while parked on a ranch close to the border. One BP agent on my Facebook feed (now since deactivated because fuck Facebook) even was advocating for Texas to secede from the US if Biden wins. Mindblown.gif The sad reality is that many of the Hispanic citizens along the border, many only a generation removed from living across the border, think so lowly about our neighbors from the south. The mentality is “fuck them, I got mine.” They’ll claim that “They’re stealing our jobs” yet they don’t care that “Don Juan” who is mowing their lawn or remodeling their kitchen is here illegally because he will do it for cheaper. They'll cross the border to see the doctor because it’s cheaper. Additionally a sad reality that I’ve seen with a few acquaintances and distant family is that they fall for many of the conspiracies that are spread like wild fire on Facebook. I blame our education system in Texas for this shit but in my opinion it is part of the reason for the increase in support for trump this past election.7 points

Can someone tell me what kind of a world we are living in where the entire purpose of a political party is to play disingenuous and hypocritical gotcha games after they tried to destroy the very fabric of our system of government for the last 4 years? I'm fucking tired of it.7 points

Good lord, texi. I was reading through and thought you'd seen something substantive somewhere and hadn't posted it. FWIW, Harris signs with Texas if NSD is today. They lead by more than what people are willing to say, for whatever reason. It's odd and worth keeping an eye on. They know what happened. He chose Oregon. They weren't expecting it, nor was anyone else. He basically woke up and decided, fuck it, I want to play somewhere else. Allegedly there was nothing nefarious or complex with it. Beyond Harris and Hullaby, the theme of the last few pages seems to be: "DB - who and how many and where will they play?" Allen and Anderson may be fast enough to play CB but they're safeties at the next level. They'll fit into the safety spots on the depth chart by the end of camp in their first year unless one of them just fucking shocks a staff. Harris, Guilbeau, Anderson, Allen, ?? & Hyphen would be a pretty fucking stout haul of 6. There are some pure safety takes that are all pretty similar, so I'm assuming at some point, when they're comfortable with their grip on overall numbers with the roster and this class, they'll decide whether they're taking 5 or 6. If they take 6, they either have to decide that they need another CB or they may just push 1 of the 3 or 4 safeties they like besides the guys I just named, and the first one to make the commitment comes on board. Hyphen works not only in name but 3 DB position flexibility, potentially. Harris and Guilbeau are true CBs. Guibeau isn't a guy for an island, but everyone thinks he's a take. Anderson and Allen are both pretty fucking flexible, but you want those guys at S.7 points

I don't know your thoughts on the capitol attack which is why I used the word "may." It is simply a current example of the effective use of trolling tactics. I haven't accused you of anything either. But your defensive posture indicates that you don't want to admit supporting something bad. You even threw a "but Obama" in there. I was against the way Obama did it too. But one wrong from one admin doesn't excuse an even greater wrong from another admin. So quit trying to use it as an excuse and own Trumps policies if you actually support them. And if you don't actually support them, quit excusing them which makes you seem like you do. From your few previous posts, I would have assumed you support what Biden is doing. But your seeming refusal to acknowledge how it varies from Trump policy tells a different story. To me, Biden is doing better than Obama and way better than Trump. Its really, an A, B, or C choice Obama-cages, no family separation Trump-cages, family separation Biden-no cages, no family separation7 points

Oh here we go! Wah, its the liberal circle jerk because I came into defend a troll without offering any substantial arguments so now I will whine about it. Get fucked, you piece of slime. I fucking care about it. It's unfortunate that hundreds and thousands of people, some of them are kids, make a treacherous journey to the united states for a better life, and we can't let them all in for sundry reasons. I think the best option is to do the best you fucking can, try to solve the problems, and keep everyone as reasonably safe as possible while you sort it out. It's always going to be messy. Not to actively use it as a political tool to deter people from immigrating to the United States, which only one administration actively did. Is it good? No. Is one actively not trying to be fucking evil about it? Yes. You are fucking trash. Time to crowdsource your fucking ass again.7 points
