Phil Collins got taken for a ride by some shady artifact dealers. Basically, documents are probably real, but physical objects were likely fake. He should retain a lawyer and sue, sue, sudio.23 points

I lost about 60 pounds a few years ago and have kept it off. A few scattered thoughts: 1. People who want to lose weight but never seem to do so often tell me that losing weight was really easy for me and that it’s really complicated. It was the exact opposite. It was very simple but very difficult. Friends and family minimizing the work I did is a little annoying, but I understand the psychology. And they’re still fat and I’m not, so I don’t really care. 2. I still get lots of pushback against eating choices that I make. There’s a great deal of social pressure to make food choices that make you fat. It’s a small price to pay to feel so much better, but the social pressure is real and doesn’t make things easier. 3. I think one thing that helped me was that I didn’t tell anyone what I was doing. I get the idea of a support system, but my experience has been that our culture wants you fat. I didn’t get any pressure to eat poorly until people noticed that I wasn’t fat anymore. 4. And know what I’ve eaten every day for the past 3ish years. It’s simple, but not easy. I feel so much better though. 5. I don’t think it’s so much a knowledge thing or a laziness thing or whatever. Some years back, everyone in education start using the word grit. It’s that. Losing weight is unpleasant and persisting in the unpleasantness is the price you have to pay.19 points

The story of the Alamo and Texas independence is like damned near everything else: it's complicated. It ain't all noble freedom bullshit. But....it's also not all "we fought Mexico so we could be racist against mexicans and keep slavery." 90% of the human beings of good and decent character of a certain time.....were also racist. Because that was THE conventional wisdom (as just one example of a belief we find loathsome today that wasn't the case 150+ years ago). People are.....complicated. I am a son of Texas. I have family members with historical markers on their graves. And even their history in the Texas borderlands is....complicated. History has few angels, and few devils. Instead, it's full of people, in shades of gray. The conservative reflexive pushback against ANY discussion that doesn't start with "America/Texas is the awesomest bestest and there ain't no place awesomer bester!" is pathetic and sad.12 points

While we are slightly backing from the ledge, pretty exciting to see Maalik impressing with his accuracy at elite 11. Everyone knows he has a cannon but it sure seems like he has the potential to be an elite passer all around. Fake football and all, won’t mean shit unless he can keep his mechanics in a real game and make good decisions but good to see he’s more than a big kid who throws hard.11 points

Kiddo: Daddy, why don’t you have your shoes on. Me: I’ll put them on when we’re about to leave. Mommy is still getting ready. Wife from hallway: I’m ready! Don’t say I’m not ready to go. We can leave. Me: Put on shoes, walk with child to door, open, walk out of door. Wife: Wait! Where are you going. I don’t have my shoes yet, and I need to….11 points

On TOS there was a fasting thread, and i talked a bit about some of my hard core fasting. I lost 150lbs in about 8 months and after almost 3 years I'm still 125 down. So went from 345 to 195, and i hover around 225 now (I'm 6'1 and 53 years old). So not close to skinny, but can tie my shoes and run a 10k without dying. All that to say I have some experience being fat ( i had a decade of big time obesity and a life time of needing to lose a few). I understand them. Those fatties know they are fat, they have just given up and don't think they can fix it. Every minute of the day they think about their weight, they don't go on family vacations, or if they do, it is reluctantly. That guy debated about going to the astros game because those seats are small and he knew they will be in the next person's way sitting there - but someone convinced them and they couldn't tell them why they didn't want to go. They wake up every Monday morning saying today is the day it will change and they fail by lunch. Over and over, decade after decade they fail. All that failure is just a beating and have given up. They have accepted their fate - they are committing suicide, and they know it, and they hate themselves way more than you hate them.11 points

The reason for Texas independence was so Texans could keep their guns, make sure abortions were illegal, keep the illegal Mexicans from coming across the border, and that booze wouldn't be allowed to be purchased on Sunday mornings. It had nothing to do with slavery you leftist, socialist bastard! By the way, I got a hundred bucks says the sentence above is taught in Texas schools in the next decade.....sadly.10 points

Right after the game I had to go take a piss so I didn't burst once we got on the train. Walking against the grain of the crowd coming towards me and I notice Claudio Reyna, in a suit, a phone to his ear with a big shit eating grin. Without realizing what I'm doing, suddenly I've grabbing him on both sides of his shoulders and shaking him and screaming: "Fucking holy shit, Claudio, you fucking did it baby"! Rather than head but me or cold cock me (heh), he screams back at me laughing hysterically, and high fived me. (he also turned his phone to me to show me who he was taking to, but I'm blind and couldn't see her tits) Holy fuck that night was ridiculous. p.s. The only thing untrue in this story is the tits; they may have been there, but again I'm blind. (and was drunk)9 points

Listening to the 4th & 5 podcast from yesterday before Cam announced, Darius said Cam was all set for Oregon before he made his visit to Texas, then we made a good enough impression on him to throw things up in the air. He put his confidence level for Texas at a 4/10. @OnAComputer had us at 5/10, so while yesterday was a missed opportunity, it’s not like we bricked a layup, or totally flubbed a sure thing. Oregon had been on this kid a lot longer than our staff has even been here, Cristobal is an elite recruiter, particularly of o-linemen, and just put an OT in the top 10 picks of the NFL draft. If we miss on the two kids today, that’s when I’ll start worrying in earnest.8 points

https://www.foxnews.com/politics/trump-adviser-jason-miller-to-launch-gettr-a-cancel-free-social-media-platform Just taking a quick look under the hood, it's built using: Google Apps for Business Cloudflare, one of the largest CDN/firewall services in the world, run by folks in the liberal paradise of San Francisco React Javascript libraries, which is maintained/hosted by Facebook Hosted on AWS EC2 Infrastructure. So he's using software from Google, libraries hosted/maintained by Facebook, and the site is hosted on Amazon's web services. But it's "independent" from "Big Tech", and it has "superior technology" that 75% of the fucking internet uses.8 points

IT is on the verge of mutiny, subscribers getting restless with the stream of seemingly bad information over there. At least Nahlin and co are handling it with personal accountability and patience. Just kidding, they are completely thin skinned and defensive about all of it.6 points

I’m just going to say this and it’s not sour grapes or anything because I know shot all about recruiting and know even less than that about OL specifically but seeing a 3 star that goes 4 bills at 17 years old not pick my school isn’t going to cause me to go swinging from the shower rod. I’ve long been a proponent of the idea that if you sign 25 every year with 1 QB that you like at a school like Texas and don’t have brain dead morons on the coaching staff you will be just fine. The prevalence of the portal, low level college football free agency and the coming of what I think will be pretty substantial money for NIL at a place like Texas if we don’t fuck it up only adds to this belief we will probably be fine. Just have to keep signing full classes (recruits plus transfers), ruthlessly processing the dead weight and finishing off roster holes with 2-5 upper class transfers every year and we should be just fine. We are about to have every advantage possible. If we fuck it up we deserve what we get.6 points
