  1. I had the chance to talk to a buddy who has been to multiple practices and every person on this thread except the clown that thinks NFL scouts make a bunch of money would trust this buddy's unvarnished takes. And he's not prone, ever, to positive hyperbole with UT football. -This is a 9-3/10-2 regular season team. If Sarkisian lets these guys fall apart to anything under 8-4, they should fire him before Thanksgiving. This team has more talent than anyone in the Big 12 this year. Give me TCU's WRs and someone else's kicker, and I'm not sure what other group is outpacing what Texas has. TCU vs Texas at WR might be a wash anyway. -Bijan gets all of the hype, but he's better this year than anything we saw last year. It's hard to believe. He could be starting in the NFL this season. -The backfield overall is just terrific. -You're going to be better at TE and it isn't even close. 1-4 at that spot are better than anything they've had out there since I can remember. -Thompson is going to drop some passes, but he's also going to catch a few that are behind the defense. He could wind up with 6tds this year averaging 50 yards/td and also average 2 drops/game. -Cain is not going to be a star but he is going to give you consistent catches. Milton has great hands but the injuries have killed his athleticism. He's an asset though and Sarkisian will use him right. -Ewers is going to be awesome. He's going to throw a bunch of what-the-fuck picks trying to figure out where he can whip it and where he can't, and he'll remember those for about as long as it takes for him to get to the sideline. In one side of the mullet and out the other in no time. -They didn't miss on one guy on the OL and they know it. There will be 3 freshmen OL starters super soon and another is probable this year. Robertson is physical and will be a good center if his shoulders hold up. Agbo and Neto are more physical than they feared. Williams needs a little work in pass pro but is the starter at RT soon. Banks is not a freshmen and Hutson is the guy they're really surprised by, because he's better than they assumed and is a starter already. -Kicker is a major fucking problem. -The concerns about the DTs are overblown. They're swearing they're going to let them play upfield and if that is the case, the DTs are above average. Broughton can't stop the run and positivity around him feels like bullshit to press the other guys to up their game for snaps. -EDGE is the biggest problem on defense. There should be less concern about it. This was not explained in detail to me as to why I should be less concerned about the position. -LB is much improved. No studs, but they'll be a hell of a lot better than the mess last year. The transfer is tiny dynamite. -Secondary looks really good but could be zero sum with the fact that they know a lot of the plays coming at them and Ewers does not give a fuck in practice about trying to thread the needle. -If they play Bama tough and show sparks on offense, they could go on to be a team that gets substantially better as the season goes on. Traylor will have UTSA playing violently and that comes off of Bama, so Tech is the biggest game of the year. Win the first conference game to go 3-1, then beat a lost WVU team at home and figure out what OU is made of in Dallas. -This staff is using outlets to send signals to players on a daily basis.

  3. ctj was relaying info from a bona fide scout, not his personal observations. Agree or disagree I'm willing to bet his immediate personal reaction to that info was that if anyone can struggle to go .500 with 10-2 talent it's Sarkisian.

  4. It’s funny how these people never complain about “free stuff” that goes in the pockets of corporations and the extremely wealthy. It’s been proven time and time again that this “free stuff” doesn’t do anything for the economy, but when we invest in our own people, that’s when people start complaining about unfairness. If we’re going to complain, why not complain to the boomers/gen x about the enormous schools cost that younger gens had to incur as a direct result of the policies they supported that destroyed affordable higher education (that they were beneficiaries of) for generations to come. That’s unfair. At the end of the day, I honestly think that the majority of people in this country would much prefer that their neighbor’s life be worse than their own than to equally improve both of their lives, and that’s so depressing. We’re a nation of selfish cunts.

  7. It's okay to be upset about the last 12 years; hell I am, I'm fucking sick of it. But, JFC, to just give the fuck up on the season and figuratively go into the fetal position before the first game even kicks off is just being a flat out pussy. And that's what half this thread is doing. But, carry on w/ your collective masochism.

  10. 3 billion is peanuts compared with Iraq. We're getting a helluva deal. The Ukrainians were gonna fight one way or the other, we are giving them the means to do so. Unlike so many of our other adventures around the globe we are seeing some fucking results from motivated and hard charging allies.

  14. ALL of this. Shit that was made to blow up Russians is.....blowing up Russians. A lot of them, and effectively. We are rotating existing stockpiles. Good. We are learning about our weapons in real-world use, against their actual intended adversary. We know what works, and what doesn't. If we ever DO have to get into a shooting war with Russia.....we've seen how our shit matches up to their shit (and not even ALL our shit -- our air power has played ZERO role. This is like Tampa Bay learning how their entire squad performs in real-game situations, but they have yet to put Tom Brady in. If they can push their opponent's shit in WITHOUT Brady, they just learned a whole lot). And, we've incredibly weakened that adversary, so it doesn't have a first-team to field and won't for years to come. In terms of military bang for the buck against an actual adversary (which Russia unabashedly is), it's hard to think of any military conflict in history that has produced this kind of ROI.

  16. Technically only a small amount of that was in actual currency. The rest was that amount worth of equipment, aid, food, ammo, and everything else. I keep seeing people on Twitter loudly proclaiming we stop giving them another dollar. When it's like "Dude, we aren't giving them 3 billion dollars, we are giving them 3 billion WORTH of stuff. Most of which is just sitting around in stockpiles collecting dust and was probably specifically designed for this purpose anyway. So chill" There are so many upsides to giving them this shit no matter what side of the fence you sit on in my opinion.

  19. Don Draper: “Picture this: It’s the remains of a destroyed city, and out from the ruins steps a young girl into a street, bloody but defiant and holding a small Ukrainian flag. Down the street, from a cloud of smoke, emerges a Russian tank, with a massive “Z” spray-painted across the front of it, and a red Soviet flag flying from an antenna. It stops and its turret begins to rotate towards the young girl. The camera switches to the view of the Russian tank as it prepares to kill the girl. Suddenly, a soldier with an unmistakable blue and yellow armband steps in front the girl. He lifts a Javelin to his shoulders and he fires and you see the missile coming at the camera/tank. The camera pans back as a T-72 turret sails into the air, and then it zooms in on the Ukrainian soldier, who turns and smiles at the girl, who looks up at him with tears of joy streaming down her face. Fade to black and then the logos of Raytheon and Lockheed Martin appear on the screen. The End.”

  20. We have spent 10.6 billion in Ukraine since the full scale invasion broke out. Now, Ukraine of course has paid many times over. But with that funding we handed one of two near-peer adversaries a Vietnam-level debacle compressed into six months. That is a fucking bargain.

  28. After months of bitching, whining, and moaning from the fetal position about not getting transfer portal offensive linemen you have now come to the conclusion that it was more egregious to not go after transfers on the defensive front 7? You know, they actually did go after people on the defensive front seven and apparently got a starting linebacker? Dude, stop living in the past with what didn't happen. You don't like Sark we get it. Most of us don't give a flying fuck what you think about the lack of portal transfers. Oh but Baylor......Fuck off with that shit and fuck Baylor. Everyone is tired of your schtick. You would have a better audience in your bathroom mirror. Your shit is old and like a record player that is skipping playing the same shit over and over and over.

  32. From several folks who have been to the ATM practices multiple times: -Figure King has to be named the starter because he can run. Johnson can't. It helps that King's dad has been to practices and made it clear who he's cheering for to get the nod. Weigman may be the real deal some time down the line, but the playbook is too complex for Fisher to feel good about starting a true freshman. -The OL is a mess and thin. Yes, the DL is excellent, but it's not just that. The OL is an area of concern. -TEs are an area of concern simply due to a lack of experience. They're going to get plenty of targets, so they better be ready. -Stewart and Marshall burn the CBs on an almost constant basis. Both look really good. -Depth at TB behind Achane is a source of staff concern. Johnson is fine but not going to win any All SEC awards. The other guys are either lost or not nearly where the $9.95er hype would have you think they are. -Overall, the offense is not a top 25 in the country offense. The OL is going to not only limit how good the offense can be, it's likely to get key players hurt. -The DL is basically 3 deep of guys who all look the same (in terms of capabilities, not katfid, shit heads) and there are multiple future NFL guys vying for time. -LBs has Edgerrin Cooper, who everyone believes is going to be an absolute stud this year, and then a bunch of guys named Bob. It's not a strength and not a weakness. -Chappell is the best CB and he's dinged up but playing. He can't keep up with the WRs on quick cuts. Jaylon Jones is healthy and still can't keep up with the WRs on go routes, at all. They continue to be slow at CB, which was a problem last season. -Jacoby Matthews is going to be an All American at SAFETY. Both folks raved independently about the guy. It doesn't sound like Jardin Gilbert should not feel very comfortable about the premise of starting all year. -Bryce Anderson is allegedly pushing Johnson at NICKEL, but I'd like to see some games and PT before I believe that. -Even with the mediocrity outside of Cooper at LB and the lack of speed at CB, this is a top 10, maybe top 5 defense nationally. -Expect ATM to focus their "NIL" on Peyton Bowens, for sure. There's probably a ceiling for Hicks on "NIL" significantly lower than Hills', largely due to ATM having the Hicks types loaded up on campus already.

  35. Here's what I get from that first tweet......every refinery manager in Texas should be shitting his britches. Seriously, we are seeing real-world proof of concept: an off-the-shelf drone (maybe expensive, but still affordable) can be turned into a half-ass cruise missile. And it doesn't take much of a boom to fuck up a refinery. We need to be discussing and considering air defense mechanisms for critical refinery infrastructure, and drone no-fly zones around them. A terrorist, or a Russian saboteur, could fuck up our business, and bad, way too easily. Slogan is badass. Since I was a kid, I've been drawn to the stories of people who resisted tyranny to fight for their right of self-determination. Ukraine is doing that in spades. Today, I want to hoist a couple of pints and sing Oh the Red Viburnum in the Meadow with these badass people as they hold up a middle finger on one hand and sling a rifle with the other. But someday soon, I would love nothing more than to join them in a victory song in Kyiv, toasting to their liberated country.

It’s painful. “Neeee-coh (how she says my name and she named me) they had that HC of Texas on the local news tonite that Ummmm….Sar-kiss-amen, Sark-ease, how do you say his name, whatever and he said….blah blah blah.” This goes on all the time.
