One of the things that has helped everyone, from donors to CDC to Sarkisian to coaching staff to Harris, is simply time. Most of the network and infrastructure is no longer unfamiliar. Yes, there have been a few new coaches, but that's about it. As folks are in the same roles for longer, they get better. Another factor, however, is that their flaws also become better understood and good managers are able to either help people work on those areas, or account for that weakness in some other way. Last year and prior to that, Harris was not ready for prime time. He's allegedly in better shape these days, but I highly doubt he's some skilled guru that is in high demand on the open market. He's still somewhat inexperienced and immature and he's buoyed by literally the best resourced program in the world. Sarkisian is something of a micromanager around the roster, so he's not going to be repeatedly surprised when the same shit rears its head with each big recruitment or position group. Kenny Baker's been here a year+ and that helps, but he also no longer has to beg for attention and resources at DT. He had to throw fits after watching the May/June debacle last year and that changed things there, as an example. Most lessons aren't learned through success, in my experience. Overcoming failure and adversity leads to growth and experience, then hopefully success and wisdom. If you choose to learn at all. Tom Herman is a narcissist. He's been incapable of true growth and learning since the narcissism framed up his personality in puberty, most likely. Nothing is ever his fault, so what is there to learn? Sarkisian is the opposite of that. He's empathetic and introspective. That's almost to a fault, I think. This is an introspective staff, led at the top by a guy who clearly is such. I'm just hoping that that finds its way into the red zone planning and playcalling this season. Allegedly the TE/A-back coach and Neal Brown are involved with just that, but we'll see.36 points

Based on imammac’s posts there’s a decent chance he’s banging his HR person.24 points

When I was working and living in Bangkok, my company's biggest client had a guy that lived in the condo across the hall from mine. He got transferred so his unit was empty for a few months until the lease ran out. An acquaintance of mine with the big client had a key to the place and would every now and then bring a sidepiece over and "use the facilities" for a few hours. One day when I came back from work he and his sidepiece of the day were getting off the elevator; he knew I wouldn't snitch on him but a couple of weeks later we were going to be at some function and he was going to have his wife in tow. A day before the function he calls me up and says, "Hey man, when we're at the function if my wife asks; vouch for me that you and I were playing golf together that day." No problem, hoss. Sure enough his wife comes up and starts a conversation. In the middle of it she brings up the subject of our alleged golf game a few weeks earlier. Like a good soldier, I tell her "Yep, we were golfing together. And oh yeah, Steve... you still owe me $100 for that ass kicking I put on you that round." Made him fork it over right there in front of her.19 points

They don’t care even a little bit about “abused children.” They’re mad because they were promised a list of democrats and Hollywood liberals they could call pedophiles. Their only care is lib tears, literally nothing substantive matters to these people.18 points

He's making 2M a year as a defensive coordinator who doesn't have to recruit and has a huge resource advantage over 75% of the schedule that he plays. I can't imagine a job that I'd be less likely to leave.17 points

I'm not sure whether he knows how to fix it (of if Neal Brown can help), but he certainly seems to understand that it is a problem.16 points

The best turn ever to this story is if Hillary came out and said she trusts Trump this one time and there's nothing to this made up conspiracy.14 points

Sorry to interrupt whatever the fuck is going on here, but I've spoilered an update from Bucknuts regarding a few OSU positions. The DT note is very telling. They're lacking depth there, Kanu leaving didn't help them at all, and they're going to have to go with odd fronts at times due to the problem. Ohio State has a stacked roster because they recruit as well as anyone, but the roster is overly stacked in areas of focus by Day, for instance WR, CB and Safety. They under-recruit OL and they've not done as well with depth at DT over the last few cycles either. OSU has 3 points of weakness heading into the game against Texas, and all can be exploited by this Texas team: 1) QB - They don't lack for QBs with 5 star ratings, but they lack experience and the offseason reports aren't great. Sayin is not a running QB, so watching him try to get his shit together against the Texas front in 43 days should be fun to watch. 2) OL - They're replacing 4 OLs. OL has never been a strength for them under Day and now they're patching together transfers and homegrown youth. Not having 2 NFL ready RBs behind them and a 5th year QB playing behind the new OL isn't going to help much. Again, the front 7 should be hell on earth for these guys come 8/30. 3) DT - Discussed the depth issues already and there's more in the notes below. They have 2 excellent DT starters, but they're really thin behind them and they're in trouble if they're pushing those guys for 50+ snaps in 80+ degree weather.14 points

So this is a CSB but I once worked for a software company that was later bought out. This one girl got the choicest territories for sales. At the Christmas party, she was blowing the married VP of Sales in his car. He wrecked it in the parking garage. Lots of people witnessed this. I missed all the fireworks having left about 20 mins earlier. The next fucking day everyone was gossiping about what had happened, eventually they called a meeting with just us sales folk and told us to refrain from gossiping about it. someone not so jokingly said because neither the VP or his blow job giver were in the meeting: hey I been wondering why I get shit territories to call on and that woman gets the best hours and the best territories. Dead silence and a lot of glares from management in the room. A few days later our company merged and many people in our department were let go including the guy that spoke up and the rest of us who were given the weakest territories in the company to call on. But not the blowjobber though or the VP. And btw most of the people who knew about their affair and looked the other way kept their jobs, funny how that works. She and her buddies got the best territories and reaped all the benefits. I was new to the company, didn’t know shit about their affair, my dad had just died, good times and I got $5000 severance though. cool story Nicole. so yeah, my sympathy and empathy is not with the Dumbotran couple. Cuz I wonder how many people got literally screwed over at work while they been doing their affair thing. Off soapbox…13 points

I'm not condoning it or defending it, but I think you need to emotionally prepare yourself for at least a dozen end zone fade throws to Parker Livingstone this season.12 points

This is some Grade A Weird-Ass White Knighting. How do you not understand that this is a justifiable case of FAFO? First, he’s a rich CEO in an increasingly exploitative capitalist system. Everyone enjoys seeing the privileged elite fall on their faces. Second, she’s an HR executive. She should know better than to date her boss. Everyone loves exposing a hypocrite. Third, they’re cheating on at least one spouse. In full public view. That’s on them. Nobody forced him to grope his mistress in public.12 points

Coldplay sucks so bad we chose to watch Kanye at ACL Fest instead. Then Kanye sucked so we wandered over to watch Coldplay, who confirmed our earlier suspicions, so we went to Magnolia Cafe and I had Eggs Zapatino and all was well. The end.12 points

I don't think this job is stressful for Trump at all, at least not mentally and emotionally. He doesn't give shit about fuck, unlike other presidents who have genuine worry 24/7 about the economy, national security issues, etc. It's certainly physically stressful for Trump. I think he still enjoys all the travel and public appearances and he doesn't seem to be slowing that down, but his body can't keep up like it used to.11 points
