there's so much to unpack from today, so i'll just start listing them. tuesday was devastating for oakland, today was twice as devastating for the yankees.  they had just started to play better.

The boy and I were at the last ALCS clincher - we were walking on air for days after Altuve’s walkoff. Today, the boy is 5,000 miles and 7 hours away, with no way to watch. So we did a video chat, w

Help us Texas football fans Astros, you're our only hope.

I was discussing a negative hypothetical question with another couple of Astros fans and  I'm curious where Astros Surly falls:

Assuming the Astros lose their last game of  2021, would you rather?:

a) lose to the ChiSox in the ALDS

b) lose to the Rays in the ALCS

c) lose to the Red Sox in the ALCS

d) win the ALCS but lose to the Dodgers in the WS

WS obviously

Disagree. Anything but watching the Dodgers clinch on our ass.

#csb - my sister bought a julia morales cameo message for my brother's bday tomorrow. it was a very nice message, sweet

I think the Giants are gonna render the hypothetical moot.

none of the above, WS victory is the only acceptable end for  this season

yeah that's the only WS loss I could stomach

answer the question as asked, damn it!

I mean losing to the Brewers/Braves would feel like 2019 part 2.

Losing to the Giants would still suck but it would suck the least.

Fuck losing to Chicago or Boston though so from your scenario give me Tampa or give me death.

Lose in the WS against anyone...are yall retarded?

this day off is driving them crazy. on the upside, astros are eating a lot of pizza in chicago, power up

I would shrug off a loss to Milwaukee.

look, you pussies take this 'loss' talk to another fucking thread

So, everyone 1-1 except us. Cool cool.

And the White Sox.  Heh heh.

Please save the weekend, Stros.  Before today, a sweep would have been nice, but now I need it.

Let’s get there before we worry about losing to the douchlick Dodgers.

It’s the ou loss. We’re now accepting just making it after yesterday.

Absolutely this.

We sweep tonight. Fuck it. I need some BDE since the ou loss turned me vaping vagina. This is all I have to swing and slap it on the table. Make it happen Stros.

World Fucking Series.  Insert Herm Edwards gif.

Sure hope the Astros can finish off the sweep tonight.  I need something this weekend.

As a lifelong Astros fan, it still seems crazy to me that we are relying on the Houston Astros' playoff performance for our fan sanity.  I'm trying to enjoy this unique run after decades of being kicked in the balls.

Got picked for the ALCS tickets presale.  If you signed up, check your email.

Allow me to preface this by saying “fuck the Yankees.”

For perspective, the 1936-1939 Yankees had at least four teammates that played 19 post season games together and would have played a *minimum* of 47 games had they swept an ALDS and ALCS each season.

But, the 1949-1953 Yankees played 28 post season games together and would have faced a *minimum* of 35 additional games had they swept an ALDS and ALCS each season (63).

On the other hand if you count just the World Series games, Altuve, Correa, Bregman, and Gurriel will have only played half as many (14) games together.

just fodder for thought

so those yankee teams who qualified straight to the world series because of the format get to just blow through the early rounds to the world series in your scenario?

they had plenty of advantages back then.  not every record needs an asterisk.

Lulz The 2021 AL batting champ is batting 7th in this lineup.

Our boy Kike is trying to single-handedly eliminate the Rays.  5 hits Friday night including a homer and 3 doubles and 3 for 3 with a homer so far today.

No. Didn’t say such. In fact, not blowing through would have added to the total games played together. An additional 7 games is the minimum for any team that qualified for the Series.

“Asterisk”? I just threw it out there for perspective.

right.  or they lose the occasional early series and don't make it to the world series.

i remember when they expanded the playoffs years ago, and a bunch of modern jeter-era yankees started piling up all these records and i thought it was some bullshit.  glad we've caught up and surpassed that garbage.

Scraps thoughts on this stadium ?
radio is blasting the place
Guaranteed Rate?

Nothing special. Nothing even in the area of the stadium. If you have upper deck seats they don't even allow you to go to the lower deck. Kraft Kave for beer was kind of cool.

Other than that it is just a stadium.

Yep, a very meh ballpark.

Wow that’s a loud environment for Chicago. Is that what it’s like to get a home playoff game at night?

As an Astros fan, I wouldn’t know.

If Cease is gonna get 4 inches off the outside of the plate, we're in for a long night.

Way to pimp the foul ball into the side netting
