This guy is crazy. No property tax, no income tax? Am I going to be paying five dollars for a banana and a “fee” for pretty much everything else?

Yes, your vehicle inspection will now cost $500.  And the $5 banana will come to fruition, no pun intended.  And then your inspection will conveniently be marked "Not Passed" because somebody will have shoved the $5 banana in your tailpipe, rendering your emission levels "unacceptable."

Don Huffines will call this revenue-raising measure, "The Banana in the Tailpipe" trick and it will raise billions.

Sadly, Don Huffines will be exposed by Serge and Achmed.  I mean, Achwel. Achmel.  Foley, anyway, are here to get him.

Currently a portion of the property taxes fund education. Since the lil dictator wanna be said he’s putting God back in schools, is this going to be one of those Music Man simulations?

He wants everybody to know that he's got Abbott dancing to his tune or something.

His line about 'these are not Texas values' when referencing LBGQT, is alarming. What is he going to do? Open season? Is  DH going with the rest of the party to overturn not just Roe v Wade, but also the Civil Rights Act? I know Affirmative Action is on the table as well.

It’s actually quite humorous if it wasn’t so goddamn scary.

It's really crazy.

I can think of only a few reasons:

  1. Abbott is worried Huffines will go third-(MAGA)-party in the general.
  2. Abbott is worried about Trump's endorsement
  3. Abbott is concerned that DeSantis and others have overshadowed him for 2024.

Abbott has no control over #1 and #2.

With #1, Huffines appears to be a True Believer, and True Believers will wreck those that don't pass their purity tests, even if it costs their party an election, because in a True Believer's eyes, Abbott is no better than a Democrat (and Huffines has made that abundantly clear over the past few months).

With #2, Trump has no problem changing endorsements when somebody is perceived as not kissing the ring enough (or somebody else is kissing it more).  Hell, he's giving shout-outs to Stacey Abrams in Georgia because he is pissed that the Georgia leadership is not supporting him.  If Abbott is not seen as defending Trump and promoting the Big Lie enough, even if he wins his primary, he's damaged goods if he loses Trump's endorsement.  2024 is gone, and 2022 will be a lot closer than expected.

That leaves #3, the only thing Abbott can control is veering hard-right.  Abbott may have convinced himself that he has to go 100% MAGA Idiot until the primary is over and he can swing back to where he was before Huffines jumped into the race earlier this year.  That runs a huge risk though.  He has to win Texas convincingly next year, double-digits and not less than 3% like Cruz/Beto, if he has any hope at 2024.  If he squeaks out a 2.5% win, the notion that he's made Texas a battleground state concerns the BMDs.  If you are going to push a Texan for the President/VP ticket, you do so because you don't want to have to spend money in Texas, because that money could be spent in battleground states, not defending your candidate in his home state.

Kinda reminds me of how after dotard announced his run for POTUS.  Err'body was laughing at the ridiculousness of it, he didn't stand a chance and then...wham President Cuntface

Well, I wouldn't be surprised at Governor Huffines...at all.

Hillary ain't running as the (D) candidate in Texas though, and just as importantly, Huffines is running against only one person, an incumbent with plenty of money and connections.  Trump needed a large and divided field of (R) candidates in the primary to do what he did.

Huffines also would be driving a lot of corporate money away from Republican candidates (not just himself).  He's too toxic, and too many people would pressure the shit out of Texas-based companies, or companies that have a large presence in Texas.

What’s this ‘our’ shit, honkey ass cracker?

It's an entitled old Karen white man who is putting all of his cards down so everybody can see them.

I'm surprised that he would openly do this, when normally somebody has to dig up a speech from a small meeting with a few dozen supporters.

But he's blasting it out there on twitter and FB for the world to see.

He doesn't believe a single word he says.  It is purely aimed at the lowest of the low of the conservative base.  Run third party you gremlin!

Can you really tell though?  His targeting is so spot on, and he clearly wants to destroy Abbott and any other Republican that sides with Abbott.

Also, Huffines is probably flirting with a twitter probation if he keeps up the "OUR PEOPLE OUR HERITAGE OUR CULTURE" crap.  Lot of people don't like that crap and will report it.

And if that happens, then you'll see him really angry.

shit, thanks for the reminder. need to go report some tweets

There's one other thing:  He's got to be burning some bridges with people that he's done business with, with friends and family.  He's only 63 years old.  For all the ass-backwardness of this state, he's not confined to some little corner of West Texas or East Texas, he's working in and around the Dallas area, which means dealing with a lot of people that do not share his batshit views.

Trump eventually had to slink off to Florida, but where does somebody like Huffines go?  Some podunk town in East Texas?  That doesn't fit his lifestyle at all.

Well he thinks he’s going to win and then he can do whatever he wants. He’s as delusional as the dotard. I still don’t think he believes the batshit he says. He sees it as a means to an end.

What's worse.....that we have a credible candidate for governor who is openly racist, homophobic, flat-out mean, and batshit crazy?  Or that we have a sitting governor who responds to the shrieks of that candidate by concluding "hmmmm.....guess I need to be more openly racist, homophobic, flat-out mean, and batshit crazy?"

We all lose.  All of us.  This is the new GQP way -- the only currency of value is destruction, suffering, and cruelty.  The only winning is to maximize losing.  It doesn't matter if in pulling the cord on the suicide vest, you blow off both our arms and one of our legs.....so long as the person you're targeting loses both of his arms and BOTH of his legs.

It's fucking insane.  And it's where we are, where we're going, and where we're going to stay for a LONG time.

Never forget the Brisketexan Truths of the New Era:

It only gets worse.

There is no bottom.

I don't think Abbott would back down on the indigenous people thing though.

It would be awesome if he did though.

He'll find a way to burnish his "our European heritage" white supremacist credentials.  Give him 24 hours.  Because he's not just a super-weak coward, he's also shitty at strategy -- he only reacts.

It's amazing how weak he has shown himself to be with this anti-mandate mandate.  It wasn't enough to reveal that he is just a puppet whose strings are being pulled by Huffines; he signs an executive order that isn't going to be followed by anybody and is being openly thwarted and mocked by business leaders in this state.

If you're a Republican and you want strong leadership, why would you even consider voting for Greg Abbott?

And Republicans in the legislature (and other races) desperately need that corporate money.

Companies like Southwest and American have enough money to make things dicey for plenty of incumbent Republicans.

Abbott is such a fucking coward, and so shitty at strategy, he's liable to retweet out somebody saying "We must secure the existence of our people and a future for our children."

Assuming Huffines doesn't beat him to it.

At this point, the smart money is on one or both of them tweeting just that.

Are we taking bets on whether Abbott fires the employee that Huffines is on a rampage over?

there's a woman with that last name that is a CPS Specialist IV at DFPS. her whole job is to advocate and protect children, and she's probably pretty good at it given the classification. if Abbott orders her fired...man, i don't even know,  that's like next level fucked up.

Well if she stopped trying to turn all of our kids GAY then there wouldn’t be a problem.
