You know you've got strong Twitter game when you get anywhere between 25 and/or 200 likes or retweets. These candidates are making an #impact

#NotReally

In the past day or two, he picked up a couple of thousand followers.  No idea how many are bots, but he seems to have gotten some kind of bump from his Tucker appearance, and the other Republicans promoting him.

Abbott is damned lucky that the Mogwai and the LTC aren't teaming up somehow.  Not on a twitter thing, I mean he's lucky that one of them (West) doesn't drop out and go all in on supporting the Mogwai against Abbott.

I for one hope for this. Fracture the party.

Why do you fucking call me out like this? I don’t participate in the CR cesspool so don’t try to get me to chime in. I will leave you to enjoy the echo chamber with your ilk. Finally, and for the millionth time so you can hear it clearly, I’m not Icono. I don’t have to self-ban myself to not participate here. Unlike that freak, I have self control, am not an addict, don’t do meth and fuck dudes, etc. Also, I don’t have a moronic posting history, I hate the Texans and mock them endlessly and finally I am not a UH homer. Are those enough differences for you?

Last question, how do you feel about full grown sports fans wearing non-tailored jerseys?

How many Huffines bros are there? Stupid question amnesty--- is Don the same guy that was a UT regent? (hurl).

My parents live next door to one of the Huffines in Plano, who is a major aggy. Is he the sparkle twin above? They had two cute dogs, so-called Woofie and Hamlin. Well they both got ate by coyotes and now that I'm over the shock of it, I think maybe it's best they were spared seeing what a huge douche their uncle is.

It is wild to think that there are MILLIONS of people that are just terrified by the idea of brown people “invading” our country and that this is some sort of comfort to them. What a way to live.

i mean, it makes sense.  texas was a successful filibuster, and that's obviously what's happening with haitians.  one day you think hey, look at all these productive new citizens running from their creditors back east and bringing slaves with them, building a better home for us all.  next thing you know they're rebelling and we've been annexed to port-au-prince because the US army was caught napping.

Somebody properly using filibuster in the historical context of Texas's independence.  Nice.

It really wouldn't surprise me if Huffines ultimately drives Abbott to order DPS to open fire on anyone trying to cross the border, even if they're still on the Mexican side walking toward Texas.

Trump gave all the Mexicans a raise with his epic nafta USMCA deal. They’re not going anywhere

Same fucking deal, different stupid name because NAFTA was too Bush and Clinton-y.

He must take after grandpa. I used to know some of his family when I was in Denton, and some people who worked for his grandad ‘s dealership. They called grandad “half- inch” due to his tiny stubby fingers.

Partial transcript, holy fucking shit @Brisketexan if he won, better widen your ledge.  Also, obsession with children's gender.

"In a Huffines administraiton, I'm putting God back in every classroom of Texas.  I'm not worried about lawsuits.  I'm not worried about the federal government.  I'd like to see them put the prayer police in every government school we have, because even then, I don't care.  We are going to put God back in our classrooms.  And the governor, let me just say this, the governor is in charge of our culture."

Talking about appointments, "The most important is I get to appoint the board of regents of every university and college in the state of Texas that gets state money......That's where the poison starts with our education system because every teacher has got to get certified in these universities and they're all being certified by socialists and communists and they go down and then poison it all the way downstream to our high schools in our junior highs and gender modification and everything else, CRT, that we're experiencing so the whole thing to change our culture in Texas starts with leadership at the very top, the governor's office..."

"Imagine if the board of regents were dominated and controlled by real patriots, people that believed in the exceptionalism, America, and Texas and the free market"

What Don fails to realize, and this is embarrassing that he's a UT grad, is that Catholics are the biggest religious group in Texas.  You go and try and shove a Baptist version of Christianity down every school kid's throat, and you're going to have a fucking rebellion from the Catholics, Methodists, Lutherans, other Protestants, Mormons, and all points in between.

And if he wasn't a Baptist, and tried to shove a Methodist or whatever version of Christianity down the throats of every Texas school kid, then you'll see shit going down with the Baptists, Catholics, etc.

He really needs to get the fuck out of his bubble.

I'm actually pretty pissed, because this ensures that he will not get out of single digits in the primary and will get no traction in the general as a third party.  I wanted him to get just enough traction to sink Abbott in the primary.

Seriously, what is the federalism legality of a wall?  Wouldn't a state need permission from the federal government to build something at an interstate border/international border?  I mean all the established border crossings are sort of a "international zone" in a sense.  Where the federal government sorta takes over, even up near Canada.  5 years of this wall shit, and I've never heard a straight answer from a federalism legal scholar of note that explains when and if a state can erect a border wall in their own state?  I know the Feds can come in and say, "Texas, like it or not, we're building this wall here so clear your shit out."  But can Texas just categorically say, "It may effect trade and bridges and some of it will cross through federal lands, but fuck it...we're building this thing here with money you gave us."  ???  Serious question.

Correction, I wanted him to get enough traction to sink Abbott in the general.

I would love for a Republican to try and shove a Baptist version of Christianity (Huffines calls himself a "conservative Christian" so I'm assuming Baptist) down the throats of all Texas school kids, just to see how that would go over with the Catholics and non-Baptists.

That would be a good FAFO moment.

I think his current plan is his best path to upsetting Abbott.  Run a respectable second place behind Abbott in the primaries with the West and the other guy finishing 3rd/4th.  Then aggregate those factions against Abbott in a runoff where Abbott is forced to return slightly more moderate again to collect his base (Abbott's going hard to the paint on the fringe right now but he'll have to concede some of that in a runoff and go back to his establishment GOP group).  Runoff like that favors Huffines.  Even if it doesn't, Don can still get the sigs and go third party for the general and truly scorch the Earth.

Abbott won by 13% in 2018 against a no-name candidate, and that was before all of the shit last fall/January, and before last February's winter storm.  Abbott is polling far worse than 2018, and he's driving away even more trying to appeal to Trumpkins.

Perry won with 39% back in 2006, and arguably the divided field hurt the Democrat as much as Perry.   Shit, Carole got 18% and Kinki Friedman got 12% in the general.

That's crazy to think a Texas election gave us two third party candidates who pulled 18% and 12%.

Huffines probably only needs to peel off 10% to fuck up Abbott.  He does that and he ends Abbott's career/chances for 2024, and Huffines (in his mind) puts himself in the driver's seat for 2026.
