It’s not collective agriculture, and there are already govt assisted pricing and protections in place.  It’s a large reason corn is 10x what the price is now. You are under the impression our ag market is a completely free market?

Admit it, you only favor government controlled agriculture and anti-free trade when it became a Republican thing to do. The trade war and attempt to cover it up with bail out money was absolutely fucking retarded. But millions of Republicans suddenly thought "Yeah, I think this is acceptable."

No offense but the things you are for and against have no logical consistency with the exception of following the decisions made by the GOP.

Far from it. And there are some major things that could be corrected in regards to our agriculture. But if you care about the less fortunate at all, you’ll want some systems in place to protect them.

What's next commie? Public schools?

I’m pretty fucking sure that’s been going on longer than I’ve been alive, but ok, sure thing Jan. R, D, whatever. Doesn’t really matter. If you want free market food, you are either wealthy or Thanos.

Or, voice your opinion thru your vote. I think these ideas will gain a lot more traction if/when everyone starts to contribute to income tax.  When such a large portion of our society commit so little (to nothing), it’s a hard sell, imo.  The top earners and contributors have insurance already.  Their families have insurance. Their friends have insurance.

i didn't think when i posted this it would literally be the next day.

Conservatives: it’s not fair that people who didn’t go to college have to pay more taxes to pay for those who did!

Also conservatives: 47% don’t even pay taxes!

This conversation started with you jumping in and defending the ag bailouts that were issued because of the trade war.

The increase is neither here nor there, and I could gaf less about it.  The ag industry is heavily subsidized already, and is essential if you want the cant get rights to eat.

Buy I guess you only consider the additional subsidization the issue, and definitely not because of whose policy it was.

It really is.  The way our policies unfairly treat people across the country, due solely to their economic situation.  A system of punishments, and rewards,  completely unequally taken and distributed.  It's disgusting.

I got an idea! Let's shutdown the economy then open it back up and tout the huge gains it made getting back to where it was.

psst: the economy was never shut down. that's fucking impossible

if TFG had not downplayed the virus for his own personal gain we'd be having a very different conversation today - likely talking about how we avoided catastrophe and were the world's model for how to handle such an event. instead, we're a laughing stock and much of the rest of the world pities us. Remember when America used to lead? I don't, because I've only read  about it textbooks. But boy would it be great to get back there. People like you prevent that from happening. why do you hate progress?

The increase was enormous and unnecessary and had zero to do with the existing agriculture policies. I started a thread on it a few years ago and it wasn't a shock when Trump and the R congress had to start throwing billions of dollars at the problem to put out a fire they started.

The reason we are talking about it now in this thread is to demonstrate that Republican fiscal responsibility is a farce.

As you said "you don't give a fuck." That is my point.

Bullshit. If that were true then there would have been no food. No electricity. No internet. No nothing. I worked the whole time - I just did it at home instead of my office. I did my fucking part. Did you? You really should analyze the information you use to base your opinions on a lot better. Ask more questions. Don't just take shit at face value.

Yes.  We all pay sales tax.  We all pay govt. fees.  I get to write a monthly property tax check larger than the entire months rent in the apartments zoned to the same fucking school.  And then a surprisingly low sect of our population get HEAVILY taxed even further.  For the same or in many times considerably less take?  Nahfuckthat.gif

Out of curiosity, have you ever looked at what the actual aggregate tax rates are?  Everyone is paying more than 20% towards taxes of some kind.  We clearly have a progressive tax policy, but the range really isn't that dramatic.  And I doubt the guy making $16K per year but paying $3200 in taxes feels like he's freeloading.

You shut down huge sectors of the economy, creating both shortages of manufactured goods, and skewed (both in volume and timing) demand...and THEN restart that economy (but in a sporadic and chaotic way, depending on both timing and regional variations of waves of the pandemic).....and you don't expect there to be gaps between supply and demand, and/or increases in demand alone, which are the drivers of inflation?

No.  Fucking.  Shit.

It's why the entire fucking world is facing increased inflation.  Biden doesn't have shit to do with inflation increasing in France, Germany, Vietnam, etc. etc.  Because of EXACTLY what you said.  This is almost entirely a global economy doing what a global economy does when facing such large and erratic input changes.

His stance is that all tax dollars he pays should go to keeping poor people far away from him and the children of poor people in much shittier schools than his kids go to.

It's literally segregation.

You really need to look at the other side of this equation.  It's a lot harder to learn economic theories and how they work in the real world as opposed to just saying it's all Biden's fault.

I'm not ignoring it.  It's the most discriminatory one.  I don't pay less sales tax than the guy next to me because he worth 20x as much.  We pay in the same, for the same service, otherwise known as "fair".

Reading the back and forth (well, the quoted parts because reasons)

It's clear to me that it all boils down to hate. Republicans hate other people. They hate they have to pay property taxes that might benefit some fucking poor person. Even when presented with evidence that poor people actually do pay taxes, a good amount for their income level, even when presented with evidence that we all pay our share for the roads we use, the military that protects us, the IP laws that protect their businesses. They don't care. They're spoiled. Fuck other people. They don't want to pay money out of their pocket. They want the benefits of our society with none of the costs. The blame others for the costs. Poor people use resources, not me. Immigrants use resources, not me. It's one big fucking lie they tell themselves so they don't have to face the simple truth. That they're a selfish piece of shit.

I'm tired of pretending it's about anything else.

Or look at this massive yr. Thanks Biden!

I didn't argue that the growth was because of Biden either now did I?  The president really doesn't affect the economy all that much either way unless they do something really stupid, like say, putting tariffs on other countries.  I stand by what I said, that most people will blame Biden for the inflation or gas prices instead of learning how the world economy works and how some of this isn't really his fault.

He added onto fiscal policy dumping more $ into the economy. Him and Trump dumped trillions into it. A lot of it with little oversight and unnecessary. Wasted. Then the unemployment policy paying people to stay home way too long exacerbated it.
