#5. The Texas defense was bad in that OT, but it was also the best unit on the field for Texas. Interesting you pointed a finger at them as a way to defend Quinn. Again showing your perspective

People are fools if they expect defense to give up so few points every single game. Especially in playoffs.

We're on our 3rd and 4th RBs. Would we have that high of a standard if we were on our 3rd QB? Or should Mr. Heisman hopeful first round pick video game cover Dr. Pepper boy maybe pick up his play a little bit?

So, we're on our 3rd and 4th RB and the answer to not being able to fully run the offense predicated on complimentary power running is... The QB has to "do better" against... (Checks notes) one team - UGA - that is perfectly built and orchestrated to stop a team that can't run the ball.

Final answer?

Teams that have beaten Georgia in their last 4-5 losses all had QBs who could run the ball.

So yes, having a QB who can run the ball when you don’t have your run game going is a way to beat them.

I kinda hate myself and what I've become as a fan that I can both appreciate what Quinn has done and really want his time to be over so we can move on to Arch. This should be a time of tremendous satisfaction and contentment as a fan of this program given the utter failure we've been force fed the past 10 years. Sadly, it's a bit like how I felt as the Ehlinger years were winding down. That said, I want Quinn to go out in a blaze of glory where he's going deep into the playoff and helping his draft stock. The table has been laid out for Quinn. Time to seize the moment. It would help if his teammates and coaching would also seize the moment.

As JerryHubbard said, we got #2.  And #4 if you believe that is true has more experience than the other theoretical #2.

In the conference slate of 8 games, we averaged more yards per rush than anyone.  4.63 to 4.38 as 2nd best.  Our QB run game was non-existent.  For others it was not.

I rewatched a bit of the Georgia game.  Think 2nd series play 1.  Wisner loses 3 yards.  Actually pretty well blocked.  Wisner takes a false step to the right(presumably designed) so it leaves far too big a gap between pullers and the ball carrier.  Maybe LBs keying guard because he doesn’t budge and shoots inside.  As much as Sark problem as anyone.  Refusal to have some QB run is a detriment.

That is a different argument that I agree with.

I believe a QB that is a true threat to run is always a better option in today's football.

Quinn ain't that, so expecting him to become that against UGA is unrealistic and is not "he sucks" or "do better".

That is "Hey, coach... No more QBs that won't factor into the run game and have limited escapability to extend pass plays."

All the drops last week makes me think that something is deeply wrong with this offense..

I think maybe Quinn's lack of success in the Red Zone combined with his ability to turn the ball over combined with his hesitancy (or self-doubt, or nervousness, whatever) in the Red Zone, combined with some god-awful passes/near interceptions in the Red Zone has bled over to the rest of the players. The whole fucking team behind Quinn seems to have a lack of focus, a "what's gonna go wrong next" psychosis. A ball is thrown too slowly, perhaps and it throws off their timing as they wait to get whacked after the catch... or whatever... has resulted in a team that can't score TDs inside the Zone, and I haven't seen any signs in the last eight games that they're gonna get over it. They're snake bit.

Sark, you've got to try something different to help them get their mojo back. Take Quinn the fuck out inside the thirty for a few possessions and see if that helps anything. Worst case scenario, it doesn't, but it helps them get the Arch monkey off their backs. Maybe they'll step up and say "I guess we're gonna have to drag Quinn across the finish line."

Do something... Just try anything Sark, because the formula you've been running isn't working worth a shit. Quit being a fucking spectator. Quit being a fucking Xs and Os guru and return to being a coach that does whatever needs to be done to win. Engage the team in a new tack. Almost makes me wonder if Sark has caught a bit of the Quinn Hesitation Psychosis and it's fucking him up too. In scientific terms: Seems like everyone on offense is running around, being a pussy. Goddammit, you got to beat these motherfuckers next Saturday. Hop to it.

That was a lot of words to say nothing….

This is true. My biggest issue with Quinn. Is the turnover rate and turnover worthy plays. That is one of the biggest issues facing Texas currently. Quinn had been pretty good in that regard historically, but since coming back it has been bad.

#3 Auburn wasn’t better.

#4 Their WRs dropped balls. That speedster they have had a couple. One late in the half on an amazing throw by Beck downfield

3rd and 10 in overtime. Sark schemes up a play to get Wisner in the open field 1v1 on a safety. Wisner catches the ball and gets tackled.

Y'all- man if Quinn threw that ball 15 inches higher Wisner would've had enough time and speed to hit the flux capacitor and teleport to the end zone.

You ever think the reason he is struggling is because the defensive scheme is designed around making life hard for him and largely ignoring the running game? Do you watch games to see how the same teams we played defend other teams? You should. Go watch Vandy play defense vs Tenn and then watch them vs us. Go watch Arkansas play defense on us and then watch them vs others. Teams aren't concerned with our running game. The success we've had running the ball is largely because of that and not because we are naturally good at running the football.

Look, Quinn needs to be 100% healthy, he needs five seconds minimum every time he drops back, he needs wide open receivers downfield every play, he needs the Dallas Cowboys 1993 OL and run game, and he needs to be throwing to Jerry Rice, Randy Moss, and Gronk.

It sure would be nice to not have to watch 2023 highlights of our third year starter.

He doesn’t suck and he isn’t the lone reason we lost both games this year, but is it too much to ask that our 30+ game starter be elevating the team and covering up some mistakes instead of just being a bus driver? It’s the same standard I’ll hold Arch to in a few years. We shouldn’t still be having to cling to 2022 and 2023 highlights of our starting quarterback.

Dude you are way too dug in. UGA had every intention to make Quinn beat them and twice he hasn’t. When you run for 40 yards combined in 2 games vs them that does not scream “let’s make sure we stop Quinn”

No. It screams we cant run against Georgia. You don't run stunts because you're trying to stop the run game. You run stunts because you don't respect the gun game (or know when we are running). Georgia knew our run game wouldn't hurt it.

Just my opinion, but Georgia’s game plans and play calling were elite vs Texas. Georgia was multiple. They would mix their calls at an elite level. You would see a run call. You would pass rush stunts on 1st down. I don’t know if they found a couple tells or they just have a really good feel for Sark the play caller. I am not saying there were not plays to be had, but it was very rare that Sark caught Georgia in the wrong defense

Guy that was 92.030% of the offense was a spectator. Lol. Not the running game(31 yards). Not the penalties(11). Not the special teams with two missed field goals and not expecting a fake punt when the backup punter came in the game. No. The guy who was 92% of the offense throwing for 360yrds.

This is not the flex you think it is. It makes Quinn look worse saying he’s 92% of the offense. It means he can’t score despite moving the team up and down the field. It tells us Quinn throws the ball everywhere except for the end zone.

We would laugh at a team who passed for 228 yards in a half and only managed to score SIX points. NINE if Bert hadn’t missed the FG. That sucks and I’m not about to lower my standards so people like thatguy can sunshine pump how great Quinn is. The offense sucks and my frustration is with Quinn because he is the head of the snake. He is the guy who touches the ball on every play and we still can’t throw TDs knowing Bert isn’t a lock for getting points. At least Sark is taking the points so that’s my positive in all of this.

Seems like either tells, sign-reading, radio-tapping, or maybe that fat, whiny, little visor-wearing fuck is actually a pretty fucking good defensive coach?

Whole line of thinking is stupid. Like receivers and OL didn’t make plays to gain that yardage. Only TD was Moore making someone miss on nice play call. We are supposed to pretend that was all Quinn? I thought YAC yards were around 125-150 in this game (can’t remember the exact figure). Receivers get 0 credit on that?

Feels like his balls been tipped more this year than any years prior as well.

Too lazy, me, but I'd like to see the counts on how well the horizontal plays were working against UGa. I'm wondering what might have made the world's greatest play-caller think along the lines of "well, they won't be ready for it this time..."

ETA Maybe I just don't understand the essence of the Touchdown Play.

People on this site laughed about my thinking that Arch should get the 3rd possession of the first half, unless backed up within the 5 due to a downed punt, as well as the 2nd offensive series to open the 2nd half. All of this regardless of the scoreboard.

If the teams knows that it’s “planned” and not benching Quinn, all is well with the mentality of the locker room. Nothing can replace “experience” for a new QB than playing with the 1s and 2s.

Regardless of Quinn’s injury vs UTSA, Arch would’ve been more prepared for the big stage. I bet Mack wished he’d played GG more during the regular season than for just the MFng National Championship!

Saw quite a few stalk and go type routes from Texas in this game. Fake the screen blocking and then run a route. Moore’s score was on that

If it didn’t time stamp it, it’s is at 26:15 mark. Sark is good for 1-2 of these a game.

My take: Georgia largely kept playing our short game and ignored the constraints that Sark hit them with. They figured we might hit some explosives, but they would also inflict negative plays and they could stall us in the RedZone.

I left UT because of my wife’s court reporting job and finished at McNeese State (hence my user name). We were already in our mid 20s, post my military enlistment. I ended up working the night shift (4-12) at the Williamson County Jail five days a week, so my grades sucked!

The change was beneficial for my family, even though I was grown to be a Longhorn Alumni. My Dad played on the ‘63 team as an early walk on.

Long story made short, the McNeese staff/Team who I grew to love, almost as much as the Longhorns, implemented that QB change early every game, regardless of score, unless backed up within like the 5-10. The whole team and fan base knew it was going to happen, so it wasn’t like benching the starter.

In 2002, MSU beat Western Kentucky by 20+ points in week two or three and was the #1 FCS ranked team throughout the season. The last game of the SLC our starting QB experienced a season ending leg injury. The back up led us to the National Championship (back then Chattanooga), which WKU returned the favor and beat MSU. Jim/John Harbaugh’s Dad was the HC of WKU that year.

Yeah, Moore's score  was a 4-yard pass and a 38-yard run.

I watched it and then scrolled on over  to OT and rewatched that. I was pretty stoked to see Arch put up that 5 yards on 1st down. I was ummmmm disturbed to see him pulled right back to the sidelines. Why? What better time to let 'em hang? Then, after 1st... here comes Arch, right? Wrong. Another trip to the Red Zone, another FG.

I know, we're playing the long game - the CCG means jack shit, we'll save it for the CFP that we already know we're in...

I've never encountered "girthy" applied to "nipple", but okay...

On the other hand, I don't have any plumbers among my friends or relatives, so I can't rule "girthy nipple" completely out.
