Damn. I was really looking forward to watching it this weekend. I can’t think of another time an entire major festival was cancelled like this due to weather.

levitation 2016 at carson creek ranch

big dumb fest on saturday was fun, caught several good bands. bat lips shredded hard, the grasshopper lies heavy was a good san antonio band, gus baldwin and the sketch did their normal high energy set, rickshaw billies closed it out and had the crowd going nuts.

saw the tender things at hole in the wall yesterday. nice chill sunday afternoon set.

Ok….going to visit the daughter one last time in August while she lives in London (she’ll likely be moving away late September for grad school). Wife was planning to visit, daughter asked if I was coming, story is I’m just too busy with work. But…I’m going to sneak over for the weekend and surprise her. So, the three of us will be together in London Friday-Sunday. So what to do? I’m sure we’ll do some of the usual, but…I just saw that Coldplay is playing Saturday night, at freaking Wembley.
Never seen a show at Wembley. Seems a cool coda for her residency in London. And I hear Coldplay does indeed put on a fucking show. $400 each for decent seats in the front of the upper deck.
Any thoughts? Kinda think we have to do it.

I'd buy $30 of fish and chips plus pints per and give the rest to charity.

I mean…plenty of chippy will be had on the trip. We’re also hitting a cheese restaurant, and of course some Sunday roast. Probably a Sunday matinee of something on the West End.

Yeah.  Agree. Front rows of an upper deck can be a good experience.  And if anyone in the group likes Coldplay he puts on a good show.  I’m not a huge fan but saw them at Toyota Center 20 years ago or so and had a good time. Plus, Wembley.   Stadium concerts at classic stadiums are cool.  $400 seems almost reasonable these days.

I saw Hamilton on West End two years ago.  Great seats, not that expensive.  And a bit of a different take.  Would recommend if you aren’t chasing seeing someone famous in something which is also worth doing. AI says:

e: Cate Blanchett in "The Seagull," Tom Hiddleston and Hayley Atwell in "Much Ado About Nothing," Jonathan Bailey in "Richard II," and Brian Cox in "The Score". Additionally, Rami Malek and Indira Varma are in "Oedipus", and Vanessa Williams is in "The Devil Wears Prada".

Yes. With a caveat or two. What show?

This was for Rilo Kiley.  I got squared away on the floor.  I assume it will just be a bunch of people in their 40's, so GA should be fine.

This show is on Thursday night before OU, so we're making a weekend of it and going to the fair Friday and the game Saturday.  Should be a great time.

I'm eyeing that one too. Front row in the balcony was like $200. The second row was $130 maybe. I don't think that will be a jam-packed show but I've been wrong before. The Caamp show downstairs was a zoo as I said. That would not have been fun. I'll let you know if my wife and I go. Would be good to see you again.

I drove to Dallas specifically to see the stones at the Cotton Bowl in 2021.  kind of a full circle deal for me. no Wembly but still cool.
