I know Sark understands the need to land elite players in the trenches, because he keeps telling us how important it is.

And yet....

I'll wait and see on his portal work before I pass judgement here. You can only pencil in a few high school prospects  to start day 1. We need guys for next year and they were realistically always going to need to come out of the portal.

I don't want to exaggerate the testimonial on it, but I was talking to one of the GA's that worked under him at Texas and he said good things.  That said, I'm more intrigued by schools hiring NFL guys that have more of a scouting background and are used to the role or have been a direct report one.

None of which describes Brandon Harris, of course.  Paying that dude $600K a year when Glasscock makes $425K is nuts.

If Baugh hops in the portal, Sark better be the first to offer him. You could say Baugh is the reason Texas didn’t make the playoffs this year.

If Baugh hops in the portal, it better be because we convinced him to go. Because otherwise we will be a day late and a dollar short.

I will say that I am excited for bishop. I’ve always wanted our t hunter. And we have him now. The records he set are ridiculous and any report about him is all about work. I hope he sees the field early and often. Haven’t had the true two way in a while so would be cool to see him run some on D then catch a bomb.

Ohio State is getting punched in the balls today. Dixon-Wyatt flipped to USC, Legend Bey flipped back to Tennessee and now their best prospect in the class is flirting with Oregon and Texas.

I believe Anderson went ahead and signed with LSU earlier unfortunately. That was in the reddit thread tracking signings anyway.

You know it looks like Calvin hasn’t sent his into Syracuse yet. Now that’s a guy I’d like to go and get and plant as #1 with our latest commit on the other side. Calvin Russell looks like a future beast. And it’s interesting to see how many Oregon players are committed but didn’t sign. There’s a hefty amount of some solid guys. Waiting on their coach…while others give it all they can

I hope he [Bishop] is transcendent enough of a talent to overcome his size, which looks a lot smaller than Hunter.

Nahlin on Chris Henry

I just talked to @SteveWiltfong who is traveling but working the phones. He's hearing on his side that Texas' aggressive offer is resonating. He's not ready to put in an RPM but Texas is definitely in it. We both have concerns about the relationship angle but, again, Texas is being aggressive. Texas' effort level was the main reason I brought this to the board's attention.

Steve Wiltfong decided to travel on early signing day 1?

The Stampede: Horns247's Way-Too-Early Texas Football 2026 Class Prediction
Less than one month before Texas begins a loaded official visit schedule, Horns247 is calling its shot and making a first full prediction at who will join the Longhorns as part of their 2026 recruiting class.
Horns247 Staff

With just 25 days until Texas hosts their first batch of official visitors on June 6, speculation of who will be next to join the Longhorns 2026 recruiting class is only growing by the day.

Despite what some may consider to be a 'slow start' in the cycle when considering the program's recent recruiting success, Steve Sarkisian and his staff head into the summer with a wide, remarkably diverse list of options as they continue full-press pursuits for some of the top athletes in the nation, and a significant group of those prospects appear to be trending towards the Longhorns.

That being said, for the first time in the 2026 recruiting cycle, Horns247 is calling its shot and presenting a mock class in this week's edition of The Stampede. As always, the following predictions are subject to change based on potential changes that could occur in the coming months.

Quarterback
Dia Bell
Ft. Lauderdale (Fla.) American Heritage five-star Dia Bell — Texas commit

Though it's been well reported Bell has had a few conversations with the other programs that reach out to him, it's hard to expect the Florida five-star to back out of his Texas commitment unless he starts showing up on other campuses, which seems rather unlikely at this point in time. Bell is the longest tenured commit in the class and has been pledged to the Longhorns going all the way back to June 17 of last year, and he's been a boost to Texas' recruiting efforts as his behind the scenes peer recruiting work has been well documented as well.

As things currently stand, Horns247 fully expects Bell to continue recruiting other Texas targets behind the scenes as we fully expect Steve Sarkisian and Co. to sign their second high school five-star quarterback of their Texas tenure, and their first five-star at the position since Arch Manning in 2023. (SCRUGGS)

Running Back

Derrek Cooper (Photo: Andrew Ivins, 247Sports)
Carthage (Tex.) four-star KJ Edwards

Though he's ranked below Derrek Cooper, Edwards finds himself as the first running back on the list since Horns247 believes the chances of Edwards ending up in the class are much higher than Cooper ending up in the class. Texas has been in a good spot for the East Texas star going back to when Tashard Choice offered, but the Longhorns have really improved their standing under Chad Scott who's made Edwards his top priority since landing in Austin earlier in the spring. Though he recently took an official visit to Colorado, there isn't anyone around the recruitment who thinks Edwards will go out of state, and for the majority of the recruitment, buzz has been centered around the Lone Star State rivals of Texas and Texas A&M, with the Longhorns perceived as the favorite.

Hollywood (Fla.) Chaminade-Madonna four-star Derrek Cooper

In all honesty, Horns247 has less confidence in Cooper landing in the class than the large majority of the names on this list, but the Longhorns want two running backs in the 2026 class and Cooper seems more likely to be the second back in the class behind Edwards than Ezavier Crowell or Amari Latimer do. The Florida native cancelled his Penn State official visit that was set for June 17-19 while on campus visiting Texas, and if the Longhorns can't convince Cooper to swap out of his weekend official visits with Texas, it's likely the Longhorns host Cooper midweek the 17-19. If the Longhorns can get on the schedule, they'll join a calendar that already has OVs set to Auburn (May 16-18), Miami (May 30-June 1), Alabama (June 6-8), Georgia (June 13-15), Florida State (June 15-17), and Ohio State (June 20-22).

A former Georgia commit, the buzz has been around the Bulldogs for some time but the Miami Hurricanes are also considered one of the top contenders. The Longhorns built some momentum after hosting Cooper for an unofficial in April, but they'll need to lock in that official visit to have a shot here. Again, Horns247 doesn't have a ton of confidence in this one, but as things currently stand, Horns247 believes Cooper has higher chances to end up in the class than the other backs not named Edwards. (SCRUGGS)

Wide Reciever

Jalen Lott (Photo: Jordan Scruggs, 247Sports)
Pearland (Tex.) Shadow Creek three-star Chris Stewart — Texas commit

Though the official visits booked elsewhere to see SMU, Miami, Arizona State, and Tennessee will cause many to doubt Stewart's commitment status — and understandably so — Stewart has remained locked in with the Longhorns since committing to Texas about a week after Dia Bell did on June 25 of last year. A rare occurrence, Texas was the first school to offer Stewart back in December of 2023 and the Longhorns have been standing out since, as it only took about seven months for the burnt orange to turn Stewart from an offered prospect into a committed prospect. Horns247 has extensively covered the dynamic of Stewart's brother Carter Stewart starting to pick up offers from the same school as Chris, and eventually, Stewart will have to make the decision on if he'll go to Texas by himself or join his brother at another program.

Horns247 ultimately expects Stewart to stick with his Texas commitment, and it's clear the Longhorns want to hold onto him with the Texas staff recently asking Stewart to change his official visit schedule around to see Texas the last weekend instead of Tennessee. Stewart granted the staff's request, and the Longhorns are trending to hold onto the Shadow Creek product after recently hosting him for an unofficial visit a few weeks ago when Stewart was in town for the state track meet.

Aledo (Tex.) four-star Kaydon Finley

The first or two Texas legacies predicted to join the Longhorns program as part of the 2026 wide receiver class, Finley has been a top target for the burnt orange for several years and was actually the first prospect Steve Sarkisian and Co. offered in the 2026 cycle. Though Finley mentions Arizona State, UCLA, Louisville, Texas, Texas A&M, and Notre Dame as the schools he's considering, pretty much everyone around this recruitment expects the decision to come down to Texas vs. Notre Dame. You'll hear varying responses when you ask folks if they think it'll be Notre Dame or Texas, but Horns247 believes it'll be Texas after stopping by Aledo this past week. Texas will receive the last official visit before a Fourth of July decision, and the Longhorns have prioritized Finley as one of, if not the top receivers on the board for some time.

Frisco (Tex.) Panther Creek four-star Jalen Lott

The second Texas legacy on the list, Lott has also been one of the Longhorns' top targets for some time, even going back to when Lott was still at Lovejoy High School before transferring to Frisco Panther Creek ahead of his junior season. Texas was very close to landing an early commitment from Lott back in the winter when Terry Joseph was still in Austin, but with Joseph leaving for the Saints the recruitment has since opened a bit. Texas still remains towards the top of the recruitment, but Oregon has crept into the picture throughout the spring and is currently viewed as Texas' main competition, especially with the Ducks receiving the last official visit ahead of what'll likely be another Fourth of July decision for a Texas legacy.

Recruited by Texas as an athlete prospect with the chance to end up playing snaps on both sides of the ball in some form or fashion, Horns247 expects Lott to play receiver if he ends up at Texas and settles in on one position. The Longhorns will have to weather the storm that is Oregon getting the last OV in addition to beating out other national powers like Ohio State, LSU, USC, and Miami, but Horns247 expects the Longhorns to eventually land the dynamic two-way legacy prospect from the DFW Metroplex.

Norman (Okla.) North four-star Mason James

The Longhorns offered James in March before getting him on campus for the Apr. 12 Longhorn City Limits recruiting event, and the burnt orange have been trending in the right direction since the April visit. Arizona State (May 2-4), Missouri (May 30-June 1), Washington (June 6-8), Texas (June 13-15), and Oklahoma (June 20-22) make up the schools on the official visit list, and though the Sooners have always been tied to James with him being a Norman native, sources tell Horns247 the Sooners have slowed their approach on the local prospect in recent weeks. That should help Texas' chances, but even if it doesn't, having months of dialogue should help Texas in its flip attempt if James ends up as an OU commit in the summer and the Sooners' staff gets fired if they don't have a good enough season. That could cause for a flip around early signing day, but Horns247 believes the Longhorns will have a good shot to win out over Oklahoma, Washington, Missouri, and Washington come decision time late in the summer. Crushing the official visit will be crucial since Texas has only hosted James on campus once prior, but Horns247 thinks the Longhorns will be able to get it done. (SCRUGGS)

Tight End

Mark Bowman (Photo: Courtesy of Mark Bowman)
Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei five-star Mark Bowman

The first and possibly the last prospect I've covered that remains Texas' No. 1 target at his position before and after reclassing up a grade, Bowman has been in the sights of Jeff Banks and Steve Sarkisian going back to his freshman year when the Longhorns were just the third program to extend an offer. Bowman has made it back to Austin three times in the time since and has spent multiple days in Austin on two of those visits. Though Bowman is originally from Colorado, he was raised as a Texas fan and has even shown me infant photos of him flashing the Hook 'Em since his father grew up in Austin before moving north to the DFW Metroplex and eventually the state of Colorado. Texas will have to beat out Georgia, USC, and Oregon for the No. 1 tight end prospect when it's all said and done, but the Longhorns have more connections going for them in this recruitment than just about any out of state recruitment and Horns247 expects Texas to eventually reel this one in.

Brunswick (Ga.) four-star Heze Kent

Another out of state tight end target with national competition in Georgia Tech and the state of Florida's big three, Texas has hosted Kent twice for unofficial visits with one being a game visit and the second being for the April 12 Longhorn City Limits recruiting event. Jeff Banks has also gone out to see Kent in person in Brunswick twice with the most recent stop taking place this past week, and the Longhorns are set up to receive the second to last official visit the June 13-15 weekend. Few programs could offer a better pitch on development with the amount of 12 personnel the Longhorns run in addition to the fact Texas has had a tight end selected in back to back NFL Drafts, and the Longhorns have made it clear to the Georgia native he's one of the top priorities this cycle. The Longhorns will have to beat out Georgia Tech, Miami, Florida, and Florida State before it's all said and done, but Horns247 believes Texas will be able to do it come Kent's decision date set for July 12. (SCRUGGS)

Offensive Line

Felix Ojo (Photo: Jordan Scruggs, 247Sports)
Mansfield (Tex.) Lake Ridge five-star Felix Ojo

Long considered to be the 'crown jewel' of the cycle for Texas regardless of position, Ojo heads into the summer with many projecting him to make that long-awaited announcement and cement his spot as the first five-star offensive tackle to join the Longhorns since Kelvin Banks Jr. and DJ Campbell did so in 2022.

To this point, no Crystal Ball forecasts have been placed in Texas' favor, and that's a credit to some tough, lasting competition in Ojo's recruitment. Oklahoma, Michigan, Ohio State, and Ole Miss will all see the nation's top tackle prospect throughout the next seven weeks, and there's still optimism at a select group of those schools, but again, a commitment to the Longhorns feels like the most likely outcome.

Klein (Tex.) three-star Nicolas Robertson

Robertson committed to the Longhorns on March 29 during an unofficial visit to the Forty Acres, and there's no reason to believe he'll be backing off that decision before pen hits paper in December.

In talking about why he opted to make the decision early on, even when LSU, Houston, Texas A&M, and others were still pushing, Robertson claimed that in the last few months of his recruitment being open, he already knew that he wanted to play at Texas. To say the least, it would be surprising to see any other schools make true ground on a flip attempt.

Melissa (Tex.) three-star Max Wright

Similar to Robertson, Wright is a prospect who feels pretty firmly entrenched in this class. From the time that Texas extended an offer to the 6-foot-6.5, 290-pounder, it was a foregone conclusion that he would eventually commit to the Longhorns, which he did in early February.

There's not much to say about this, and that's a good thing. Wright is not expected to take official visits elsewhere, and is on a solid track to move to Austin and join the program next January.

Clearwater (Fla.) four-star Samuel Roseborough

When Texas offered Roseborough in December, some didn't think a ton of it. Yes, he's a highly-ranked offensive lineman, and Kyle Flood has done a better job at securing those than maybe anyone in the nation, but the Longhorns emerging as one of the leaders in his recruitment in the matter of a couple months wasn't exactly on the bingo card.

Part of the reasoning for Texas' success in pursuing Roseborough over the spring months is due to his mother living in Austin, just down the road from campus. Now, only time will tell if the potential of a few more years of home cooking helps the Longhorns down the stretch as they battle Florida State and Texas A&M, and Horns247 feels that Texas will, in fact, seal the deal this summer.

Fort Worth (Tex.) North Crowley four-star John Turntine III

Although Turntine could opt to commit as a program's prized tackle addition, whether that's with Texas A&M, Tennessee, or Michigan, all of who are still contending for the 6-foot-3.5 prospect,  a move to Austin where he would have the potential to play in a few different spots is a decision long in the making. Throughout his recruitment, Turntine has been at Texas more than any other school, and a connection to the school that dates back to his siblings attending gives the Longhorns some extra juice.

Texas has paired the Lone Star State's top two offensive lineman once before in Steve Sarkisian's tenure, and seem to be on track to do it again this cycle with Ojo and Turntine. (TURBOFF)

Defensive Line

Dylan Berymon (Photo: Mike Roach, 247Sports)
Fort Myers (Fla.) four-star Kendall Guervil

Contenders like Florida, Georgia, and Florida State have been near the top of Guervil's recruitment for much longer than the Longhorns have, but Horns247 doesn't expect that to be a major factor in Guervil's eventual decision.

After a trip to the Forty Acres in April, the 6-foot-3, 310-pound Florida product rated his time at Texas a perfect 10 out of 10, and as that was Guervil's last major unofficial visit, the Longhorns seem to be fresh on his mind, giving them some momentum heading into the summer.

Tupelo (Miss.) three-star JaReylan McCoy

To this point, McCoy is most notable to those following Texas' recruiting efforts from a decision earlier in the spring for the native of Mississippi where he swapped out Texas A&M for the Longhorns in both a top schools list and his official visit schedule.

Texas reportedly did a phenomenal job in making McCoy feel at home during an April visit, his first to Austin, and that's expected to be more than enough for the program to fully compete with, and eventually beat out Auburn, Florida, Ole Miss, and LSU, the latter of which he was once committed to.

Monroe (La.) Ouachita Parish four-star Dylan Berymon

Out of the defensive lineman listed in this group, Berymon has been connected to the Longhorns longer than any else. Since earning a Texas offer last June, the ultra-talented interior lineman has had a strong connection to Kenny Baker and a couple others with the program.

While LSU seemingly had the lead at one point this spring, they and other finalists like Purdue, Houston, and Texas A&M now seem to be taking a back seat to the Longhorns, and that likely won't change before he makes a decision following his official visits.

Richland (N.J.) St. Augustine Prep three-star Damari Simeon

Texas will battle two Big Ten powerhouses, Penn State and Ohio State, for Simeon over the summer, and while those two schools are much closer to his home in New Jersey, the Longhorns have been surging for Simeon ever since they offered last fall.

Simeon made it to campus in April, and subsequently set up an official visit for June 13-15, a weekend where the Longhorns are expected to host more than 25 other visitors, and while Horns247 expects that it did, it remains to be seen if that first visit gave Texas enough momentum heading into the summer. (TURBOFF)

EDGE

Jamarion Carlton (Photo: Hank South, 247Sports)
Temple (Tex.) four-star Jamarion Carlton

Prineceton (N.J.) Hun School four-star Luke Wafle

Norcross (Ga.) Greater Atlanta Christian School three-star Dre Quinn

Texas continues to trend on the Crystal Ball for the No. 1-ranked defensive lineman in the 2026 class — Jamarion Carlton. It's far from a sure-thing, though. Carlton's recruitment has become very competitive with other programs like LSU, Baylor, and Texas A&M, among others. But as the elite edge rusher continue to get to know new EDGE coach LaAllan Clark, as well as gets back on campus for an official visit as we believe will happen, we feel Texas is best positioned in the long run. Wafle has been to campus on a few occasions, most recently last month. Texas is duking it out with Ohio State and Penn State, the latter is where his older brother recently transferred to. Despite the familial connection, the Nittany Lions don't appear to have any added advantage in the younger Wafle's decision. Texas has the East Coast standout on campus last for OVs June 20-22.

As for Quinn, Texas made a big jump in his process during a Longhorn City Limits visit with his parents last month. Quinn said top three, which is saying a lot considering the programs he's deciding from include Tennessee, Georgia, Notre Dame, Clemson, and others. The summer visit slate will likely determine things, but if Texas can ignite the magic once again June 13-15, we feel the Longhorns have as good a shot as any. (SOUTH)

Linebacker
Defensive Back

Jermaine Bishop (Photo: Jordan Scruggs, 247Sports)
New Orleans (La.) Edna Karr three-star CB Hayward Howard Jr. — Texas commit

Westlake Village (Calif.) Oaks Christian four-star S Davon Benjamin

Houston (Tex.) North Shore four-star S Chace Calicut

Cornelius (N.C.) Hough four-star CB Samari Matthews,

Willis (Tex.) four-star ATH Jermaine Bishop

Austin (Tex.) Anderson three-star S Yaheim Riley

This could be a special DB class for Texas, and it already kicked off last Friday with Howard announcing his pledge to the Longhorns. Who could join him? Texas is extremely high on Benjamin, who was on campus for a couple days last month. He can play any position in the secondary despite being ranked as a safety. Calicut was on the Forty Acres a couple times in the spring with his whole family. Add in the fact that Texas now has Mark Orphey, a North Shore alumni, on staff and we feel the Longhorns have the upper hand against Michigan, Ole Miss, and others. The Longhorns made a jump for Matthews, simply just by offering the North Carolina native this spring. UT is battling Clemson, South Carolina, and Florida State ahead of OV season. Bishop can play wide receiver or cornerback and is elite at both. He was on campus again for the fan appreciation day last month. Texas is quietly doing very well in this recruitment. Last but not least, Riley earned an offer this spring while committed to Houston. He's since backed off that pledge. We feel that he ends up in Burnt Orange as things stand at this point. Wouldn't let me post 3 quotes at the same time, weird. Gotta say in the last few years of looking at class predictions and best cases this class is definitely the one that didn't meet expectations the most across the board and it's still a quasi top  5 class. Part is definitely a smoothing across the board of "lesser" schools catching up by simply offering more for certain targets but I always just find it interesting to see what we thought would happen especially around Spring and what we end up with

I don’t even remember making a prediction list for this cycle. 5 is the lowest number, by far, that I’ve ever gotten. This was a fucked up cycle. Might be that way going forward as a new norm?

Just be better, we expect that out of you.

Wha Texas not having a top 3 class? Or just recruiting being fucking crazy?

We literally landed three in the last cycle and one in this one. If you could edge guys that number jumps even higher. We also brought in a freshman AA in Maraad Watson. Relax.

That being said, if this Chris Henry Jr. deal means no Lockett/Ffrench/Moore, then so be it.

Maraad Watson was not good this year

Don't Fuck with Bobby

I appreciate Bobby’s ongoing contribution to Texas athletics, but he looks like someone who just lost his trailer in a tornado and shouldn’t be in front of a camera.

South on Chris Henry Jr

Quote

Texas sits with the No. 8 class in the country, per the 247Sports Composite Team Recruiting Rankings, on Wednesday night after signing 23 players on the first day of the early signing period.

But as both Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian and General Manager Brandon Harris noted in interviews on Wednesday, UT may not be done.

One top recruit still available is five-star Ohio State wide receiver commit Chris Henry Jr., the No. 3-ranked WR and No. 32 overall player in the country, per 247Sports. The Mater Dei product has yet to sign with the Buckeyes in the wake of Brian Hartline leaving OSU for the USF head coaching job earlier today.

"I have not signed yet," Henry tweeted earlier on Wednesday. "Still trying to weigh my options due to coaching changes. I just want to make the right decision for my future. Gods plan."

Oregon has been considered the top competition to sway the West Coast standout even before Hartline left, but now the Longhorns are taking advantage of the opportunity to throw their hat into the ring.

Checking with sources on Wednesday night, Horns247 has confirmed On3 Pete Nakos' report that Texas is joining Oregon in making a push to try and flip Henry from the Buckeyes.

One source even expressed optimism that Henry will indeed flip to either the Longhorns or Ducks, but stopped short of completely ruling out Ohio State in the race. USC is lurking as well.

There's a bit of an unanimous unknown among all teams involved, so this one could get interesting. But the source relayed that Texas "shot their shot" and will wait to see what happens when everything comes to rest.

If Henry does flip to Texas, he would join five-star athlete Jermaine Bishop and three-star wideouts Chris Stewart and Kohen Brown.

Henry doesn't have to sign until Friday, if he wants to sign a Letter of Intent at all.

If Baugh hops in the portal, it better be because we convinced him to go. Because otherwise we will be a day late and a dollar short.

That would be tampering but I guess if everyone else does it, we should too.

Nakos: Inside the biggest NIL battles of the cycle

Not a lot of players relevant to us but hard numbers which I'm sure a lot of people will appreciate

Quote

With National Signing Day here and the 2026 recruiting cycle entering its defining stretch, the NIL market has yet again been a key factor. Power Four general managers told On3 this summer they believed the number of recruits receiving upfront payments sat between 50 to 100 prospects in the 2026 cycle.
Money has increasingly become a critical factor in the last few years, too. Top programs have begun paying recruits an annual salary before ever enrolling on campus. What started as lucrative NIL packages to land commitments evolved to thousand-dollar monthly payments to lock in commits and avoid taking other visits.
From five-star offensive tackles to pass-rushing cornerstones, these are the biggest NIL battles of the 2026 cycle.
Miami Five-Star Plus+ OT commit Jackson Cantwell
After previously reporting that Miami had a $2 million offer on the table, sources indicated that the Hurricanes’ offer was raised to roughly $2.5 million in Year 1 for Jackson Cantwell just before his commitment. Sources have told On3 that the offer is a multi-year deal that escalates in salary annually. But Cantwell did not only pick the Hurricanes because of the financial figures. A source previously told On3’s Steve Wiltfong that Cantwell believes Alex Mirabal is the best offensive line coach in the country and Miami head coach Mario Cristobal has a track record of three-and-done first-round draft choices at the position.
USC five-star EDGE Luke Wafle
Battling with Ohio State and Penn State, USC emerged as the leader for Luke Wafle in the 24 hours leading up to his commitment. He’s inked a three-year, $2.4 million deal with the Trojans, opting to leave the East Coast for the West Coast. He’s expected to make $800,000 as a freshman. USC five-star tight end commit Mark Bowman is also expected to sign a multi-year deal that will make him the highest-paid tight end recruit of all time. Sources have told On3 that Bowman’s total deal value is between $5 and $6.5 million over three years. Viewed as one of the best route-running tight end prospects in recent memory, Bowman picked the Trojans over Texas and Georgia.
Texas Tech five-star OT commit Felix Ojo
Texas Tech beat out Texas and Ohio State for five-star offensive tackle Felix Ojo. The Mansfield (Texas) product picking Texas Tech over Texas proved to be a last-minute stunner. Ojo’s agent, Derrick Shelby of Prestige Management, publicized that the offensive tackle inked a fully guaranteed three-year, $5.1 million revenue-sharing deal. Sources around Texas Tech pushed back on the number, telling On3 that Ojo’s three-year deal is expected to pay an average of $775,000 annually. Shelby declined to share Ojo’s contract but backed his publicized financial figure. Texas Tech and Ojo have a verbal agreement that if the college football market shifts back to an NIL-driven format, the parties could renegotiate the contract up to the $5 million mark. The 6-foot-6, 275-pound Ojo did not include the Red Raiders in his top schools list, but Texas Tech’s staff remained in contact with him and leveraged their opportunities on and off the field to ultimately win out.
Texas Tech five-star EDGE LaDamion Guyton
Down to Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee and Texas Tech, the Red Raiders pulled away and landed the five-star pass rusher. Sources tell On3 that Guyton is inking a deal that will pay over $900,000 in Year 1 in Lubbock. The 6-foot-2.5, 240-pound EDGE didn’t know much about Texas Tech until visiting this summer, but that trip changed everything.
Tennessee five-star WR Tristen Keys
The Mississippi native was locked in with LSU for most of his recruitment before flipping from the Tigers to Tennessee in August. The No. 2 wideout in the 2026 cycle, according to Rivals, is expected to make roughly $1 million as a freshman between his pay from Tennessee and his adidas deal. Michigan landing running back Savion Hiter freed up cash for the Vols to close out the deal.
BYU five-star QB commit Ryder Lyons
Despite being one of the top quarterbacks in 2026, Ryder Lyons will not be on campus at BYU until 2027 after he goes on his LDS mission. Throughout Lyons’ recruitment, USC and Oregon emerged as leaders, but BYU won out at the end. Sources told On3 that Lyons was seeking a three-year, multi-million deal wherever he landed. That included cash before his LDS mission, and sources have said that could be up to the $1 million mark.
Tennessee five-star QB commit Faizon Brandon
Faizon Brandon committed to the Volunteers last August and has remained locked in with Tennessee since then. The five-star quarterback picked the Vols over Alabama, LSU and NC State. Ranked by Rivals as the No. 3 quarterback recruit in the cycle, sources have told On3 that Brandon is expected to sign a multi-year, multi-million dollar deal. One source told On3 that Brandon’s deal will pay him between $1 to $1.5 million in Year 1.

Howe, Ketch, Nahlin, Chip Brown, Zay, Brad Kellner without a hat, Sammy Sosa pigment meds looking Erin Hogan a few months back, Gerry from his car after a morning practice & Justing Wells live in that hood without the contributions to our program.

Was at a tailgate for Arkansas game that VY was at. He invited Pac-Man Jones (and LenDale White) to the tailgate.  Pac-Man apparently takes care of Chris Henry now.  Chris Henry to Texas confirmed.

I’m sure Pac-Man is a solid role model. No reason for concern there.
