All I could find is some banks will give you points for having a dei program. Can you link something that says they won’t give you a loan at all without one?

Do you know the difference between ESG and DEI?  Couldn’t help but notice you’ve ignored one entirely, over several replies, even after it was specifically noted thru several of my posts.  Curious.   Disappointed doc.

Well this is the racism thread and your initial post I was responding to was specifically discussing your experience with dei questions you were asked, so I’m not sure why you think my focus is weird.

I take it that you don’t have any examples of a company not being able to get a loan without a dei program (I guess for completeness you can add environmentally friendly or sustainability programs if you want but you didn’t mention being asked about those things)

In 24 hours, my youngest will turn 5. And I will explain to her that it’s Good Friday.  A man walked into Golgotha knowing his fate all those centuries ago.  Dying to save us from ourselves.  And many family members and friends will call her to wish her a happy birthday.  And a troubling number of them will then hang up and order one of Trump’s bibles.  And I will contemplate what will become of her country when I am long gone.

the worst among us is literally fundraising off of Bible sales to fund his criminal enterprise law suits.  And I have to pray tonight for sanity and then walk them into holy weekend masses.  All the while, pretending I don’t really think this is an illusion.  Admittedly, it’s an affront to other faiths of the world to consider this to just be an “our” problem, but it sure as shit feels like one.  The man upstairs doesn’t talk to us for 2000+ years. And then 75mm people pick this fucking guy to lead us and hock his many leather bound volumes?   And we’re supposed to rest easy and maintain faith?

Lots of them weren’t doing ESG and DEI movements until their lenders that fund them said they had to.  Now, it’s super duper important. I’m sure it’s because they really really want to, though.

Reading and magnets. How do they work?

Again you haven’t linked any lender that shows a company *has* to prove ESG or DEI to get a loan

From what I read online there is a new type of loan since around 2017 that gives a discount to companies that can demonstrate an ESG program

Chase gives me a discount on my car note if I let them auto draft the monthly payment. Doesn’t mean I can’t get a car loan if I don’t do that

I’m sure these multi billion international Fortune 500 financial firms are just begging to staff their tens of thousands of jobs with only white people, but are just so unfairly treated. I could never imagine in my lifetime that being an open racist wouldn’t only be socially acceptable but revered. I hate that my kids are going to live in a world where each of their accomplishments will be questioned by half the population as DEI. Way worse than even I’ve faced. Or as fatty would say “fuck them kids.”

This has been happening with affirmative action for decades.   Just a new name.

I take your point and generally agree, but the fact is still it's a racist policy insomuch as the word racist has a specific meaning. Now, I think that says more about etymology and sociology.

It would be interesting if the word "racist" can be taken back as one of those words that started as a negative term but was reclaimed and turned positive term by the marginalized class as society becomes more aware and educated (e.g. "queer", "socialist", etc.)

I edited the post to address this, you're not describing "racism."

Yea, racists have been racist for decades. Good observation idiot. The difference is that it’s now popular to not only be racist but to say it out loud.

Idiot?  That’s not nice.  Especially coming from someone insinuating that this is some new issue their kids will face, knowing it’s been going on for decades and you lived thru it yourself. If you’re worried that your children will face that perception, quit pushing for racist policies.

It’s okay, BeardIP and fatty don’t say DEI with a hard I at the end.

I haven’t heard anyone use DEI that way.  Most of the racists around our sites still use the term Mondays

I believe there's a valid debate around how DEI programs are designed, implemented, and measured in various organizations. Problem is it often means different things in differnt orgs from a university (no standards there either!) to private organizations. Sure, post George Floyd we got a surge of token programs popping up everywhere but that was a watershed moment in the history of this country. But to paint it as somehow discrimination against white people is just lazy thinking.

Yes, yes. Assuming a person of color got their position because of DEI or affirmative action and not actual merit is strictly because of those "racist policies" and not the inherent racism of the person assuming. Like saying the mayor of Baltimore is a DEI mayor. Yeah, that's DEI's fault.

Are you talking about memes and Twitter or real life interactions?  Do you believe living,  breathing people are walking around using DEI in lieu of dropping an N-bomb in casual conversations?

Who’s arguing otherwise?  Only one poster has a fear his kids will be perceived in this manner.   As far as anyone knows, DEI only works if you’re a pilot or supreme court justice.

Yes, and you know this damn well, most recently the gqp references to Baltimore's "DEI Mayor." You're little head in the sand trick is transparent as hell, but you obviously know this as well.

And for all the consternation, everybody knows that DEI at major corporations is not much more than a page on the website. I'm very familiar with these types of programs. Or made up bullshit like "I couldn't get a loan because woke DEI" or whatever the fuck that lie was about.

Jesus fuck the inability for “educated” individuals on this site to read is troubling. Or, just more bad faith arguments, whatevs.  But if that’s what you got from it, I can actually understand the concern you have about the kids now.

well, for starters-I am making sure she understands that my maternal grandmother was denied service time and time again at myriad businesses in Texas because of her overtly mexican appearance.  And then I'll have to remind her that it's all a rumor.  A mutually agreed upon mythology.  That it never happened.  But I know it did.

Happy birthday to your youngest!

Thank you.  I think this is the first time that she's had her birthday on Good Friday/Easter weekend since she's been born.  And I'l have our MAGA family over for brunch on Sunday.   And I won't say a word, but I'll quietly remember that my cousin's mom and my mother are from Mexico.  and while it was certainly nothing compared to the plight of Black Americans, it was not a picnic either.  And she'll pray for Trump's saving of our country on the rebirth of the Lord, our god.  And I will smile.  And remain sober.  And wonder how this all came to be.  That the Son of God told us that the strongest of his lessons of "Faith, Hope, and Love" was Love.  And that 35% of us took away the lesson, "Yeah, that gay ass love stuff is bullshit...let's be mean to  dark people and queers."  He walked for 40 days to remind us of two lessons.  That we could be redeemed in his father's eyes and have the everlasting life that he did.  And second, to love one another as he had loved us.  and what have we chosen in a country he never knew?  To visit cruelty upon one another despite him handing us beauty on a silver platter.

Type the 5 banks I posted into Google, along with “ESG” and “O&G lending” and let me know what you find.  You’re a big brained doc, you can figure it out. Or shit, spend some of that 25 milli on an assistant to Google for you?   If you’ll excuse me, I have to get back to my merit based work.

You've wasted more posts telling him to google it than it would have taken the oh so easy few mintues you purport to just find the links and paste it. And this is after the guy, several times, has said he's googled it and has found nothing at all to support your claims. The burden of proof is on you. But you know that, but this is why no one takes your shit seriously.

You made an assertion that your company “had” to have ESG/dei programs in order to get funding.

all I find on google is that many banks offer a product that gives a discount for companies that can document those programs. Not even close to the same thing

Provide some proof for your assertion or fuck off

I didn’t make any assertions about “my company”, or any company I work for.  I recalled an interview that had ~33% of the questions referencing diversity, inclusiveness, and equitable work. Again, doc, reading comp. Its rather important.

It’s not my job. He can take it or leave it, Idgaf. Post #696 and #697 covered the entirety of it, succinctly.  But anyone working in or invested heavily in O&G remember when the ESG initiatives came out, remember who was no longer funding without the correct ESG score and “net zero initiatives”, and it’s easily Googleable.  Maybe he’s tripped up because we were still doing affirmative action then in lieu of DEI?  Or he cannot process things he reads. Who knows?

You talk about reading comprehension, but you comprehended absolutely zero of my post or you just ignored and dismissed it. I know which one is most likely.

there are multiple posters, myself included, who have tried to tell you that you have provided no evidence of your assertion. if you're so confident in your stance, YOU post the proof. otherwise you're just a poo-flinging troll, which only reinforces why i have you on ignore
