No sane person thought Hillary was running again.  Which explains why so many on the right were sure of it.

That and they wanted her to run.  Needed her to run.

And Kamala maybe their best hope to getting more of the base out. California, female, and minority.

Giving poor kids money. It's actually a unique, signature idea that is easy to understand, so it's smart on his part. Also, it's direct wealth redistribution, which is also smart.

America has a massive, growing racial wealth gap. The median white family today holds nearly 10 times the wealth of the median black family.

Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) is introducing a bill aimed at closing that gap. His idea is to give lower-income kids a sizable nest egg (nearly $50,000 in some cases) that they could use for wealth-building purchases, like a down payment on a house or college tuition.

These “opportunity accounts” would, theoretically, make sure all children have significant assets when they enter adulthood, rather than just those who grow up in wealthier homes.

More racism is always the answer!

poor white familes with no generational wealth need to check their privilege.

Trump's campaign isn't slowing down two years out from his reelection race.

He entered the year with $19.2 million in the bank and most of his contributions are still coming from small-dollar donors who will prove critical in the 2020 presidential race.

Trump's campaign and his joint fundraising committees raised more than $21 million during the last three months of 2018. His campaign said most of his contributions came from donors who gave less than $200.

The president's campaign also spent heavily during the end of 2018, steering $23 million to campaign ads, direct contributions to GOP candidates and other expenses from dozens of campaign rallies.

According to the FEC filing, Trump owes the Treasury Department over $1 million for travel expenses related to campaign rallies.

And his campaign also spent $838,000 on legal fees, which included money given to firms who have represented the president and those close to him regarding Russia election interference investigations, according to The New York Times.

Warren, Gillibrand lead the pack in Senate cash

Not all Democratic presidential candidates will be starting from square one when it comes to fundraising.

Sens. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) and Kirsten Gillibrand(D-N.Y.), who are both running for president in 2020, are the early leaders among the eight U.S. senators running or believed to be considering White House bids.

Warren leads the pack with $11 million cash on hand. Gillibrand is not far behind with $10.3 million in the bank.

Lawmakers with federal campaign accounts can transfer that money to use in a presidential campaign.

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), who's reportedly gearing up to announce another White House bid, has $9 million in his Senate campaign account.

Meanwhile, Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.), who's the latest Democrat to enter the 2020 race, has $4.1 million.

And Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) ended 2018 with $1.3 million, though she announced raising $1.5 million in online donations within 24 hours of her 2020 announcement earlier this month.

In the House, Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-Hawaii) has $2 million stowed away for her long-shot presidential bid. She also faces a contested primary for her House seat, though she hasn't confirmed if she will run for reelection.

Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.), who plans to make a 2020 decision soon, has $1.6 million in his account for a presidential run.

Meanwhile, former Rep. Beto O'Rourke (D-Texas), who raised a record amount of money for his Senate bid in 2018, only has $286,000 in his account.

That’s not as great for Biden as it looks.  I imagine Biden’s name recognition is getting him half those numbers.

So name recognition shouldn't be part of nomination momentum?  Holy shit, wait until we tell Franky O'Rourke, the spoiled rich Irishmen from West Texas.

No, he wouldn’t be awful.

I just think Biden would be a wasted opportunity since there are a dozen candidates that would make a better president.

Yeah. Like Hillary?

We’ve been over this but the dems should nominate whoever has the best chance of defeating trump if trump is actually running. If that’s Biden then that’s who it should be. If its someone else that’s who it should be.

Your argument as to the “best” president reminds me of all the anti-Bernie dems who during the primaries argued we should stick with Hillary because Bernie’s pie in the sky policies would never fly and get through congress. How are those never flying through congress policies looking right about now with a dipshit corrupt administration instead? The dems fucked up nominating Hillary and were all paying a severe price for that fuck up.

Maybe we should focus on winning the damn election and getting the crooks thrown out.

Can’t let Hillary go again I see.

Biden is the epitome of a Hillary Clinton type candidate. A career politician flip flopper with plenty of baggage running because he feels like he’s entitled to the presidency.

You want a rerun of Hillary, nominate Biden.

You want to win, go for the fucking throat with a person that owns their ideas and vision with authority.

BIden is popular. Hillary isn’t/wasn’t. Every poll I’ve seen says he has a better chance of beating trump than any other dem candidate. With Warren having the best chance of losing. If you have polls that say otherwise please post them.

You hate trump but wholeheartedly support Hillary and appear to oppose Biden. While at the same time supporting the 2020 dem candidate, Warren, who has the most negative ratings among all groups, dems, republicans, and independents.

Do you just enjoy bitching on the internet or do you want the dems to actually win and get this shithole president thrown out?

Because I prefer the later to the former. I would like to go back to never posting on the internet about this crap again.

Of course all the polls show Biden like that now, he’s the most recognizable.

You’re letting polls dictate your selection two years out without entertaining the possibility that a stronger candidate can emerge through the primaries.  We have a process for this you know?

Moreover, the idea that we choose a candidate based on the fear of Trump having a second term is foolish IMO.  It’s reflexive control 101.  “We are going to intentionally not nominate the person who would make the best president because the worse candidate is more likely to win.”

It’s the kind of mentality that keeps us trapped from really determining our own destiny.

Fuck that noise.

The Schultz effect: Liberals own 2020

https://www.axios.com/2020-presidential-election-liberals-howard-schultz-624825d3-7c2a-465e-b52c-f2dd9490f19d.html

The rising Democratic enthusiasm for big government liberalism is forcing a trio of leading 2020 contenders to rethink jumping in, several sources tell Axios.

What's happening: Michael Bloomberg and former Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe, each of whom were virtual locks to run, are having serious second thoughts after watching Democrats embrace "Medicare for All," big tax increases and the Green New Deal. Joe Biden, who still wants to run, is being advised to delay any plans to see how this lurch to the left plays out. If Biden runs, look for Bloomberg and McAuliffe to bow out, the sources tell us.

The Democratic attacks on Howard Schultz, after he said he was considering an independent bid, reflect the current party's limited appetite for moderation.

In "Schultz Derangement Syndrome," conservative N.Y. Times columnist Bret Stephens wrote: "[T]he neuralgic reaction to his bid says something about the ideological drift of the Democratic Party."

Iowa polling by a prominent 2020 hopeful found that the Democratic electorate has moved sharply left.

For instance, the polling found that "socialism" had a net positive rating, while "capitalism" had a net negative rating.

Bloomberg is going ahead with expensive preparations for a campaign: He directed his staff to prepare a launch plan for him, after he received an encouraging response from a business audience in Northern Virginia 10 days ago.

Kevin Sheekey, his close adviser, was spotted in Washington yesterday on a recruitment mission for campaign talent.

If Bloomberg ran, he would argue that no candidate in the race has done more to save the environment and support gun control.

Be smart: The decision on whether to enter the crowded 2020 field is becoming a math problem. Just one moderate candidate could have an advantage, with a bunch of progressives splitting the liberal vote. But multiple moderates could be splitting too small a slice.

This. 2020 is not an "opportunity". That's a stupid way of looking at it. 2020 is a must-win situation. In the same way that playing a loser's bracket elimination game in a tournament is not an "opportunity", it's a back against the wall, no holds barred situation.

Seeing 2020 as opportunity to make some sort of point is how you'll get four more years of Trump. This isn't a gimme where we get to pick our person and they automatically win. 2020 is about saving our country, which means picking the layup candidate. Save the pie in the sky shit for 2024 or 2028. Now is not the time.

What is special about Joe Biden?

Nothing really except he currently has the best chance to beat trump. That’s pretty special to me.

Head to head again? She'd probably win bigly.
That's how bad he is.
I don't necessarily disagree but we all thought the same thing in 2016. Those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it, and the "we have this in the bag" attitude scares me to death. It's one of the main reasons Trump won in 2016, and I sure don't want to see it again in 2020

nominste the person who is going to win. Period.

I finally started watching American Horror Story. After season 3, I skipped ahead to cult. I could not stop thinking that they must have read the CR to come up with all their characters. So much angst and over reaction all over the place. It just amuses me. Great season too

Anyway, it won’t matter, but I’ll be registering to vote for the first time since Bush 2 episode 1. I got disillusioned with the whole thing, and I know my vote still won’t matter, but I will be going to vote for Not Trump.

I don't get this, Tulsi has a very ugly past that has been extensively covered between Assad and her support of conversion therapy, are we supposed to feel sorry for her because other democrats are trying to smear her?

They will probably try the same shit on anyone who tacks to far to the left on foreign policy. This is slimy gatekeeping shit.
