Your best long weekend away from Austin heat recommendations

Delta and Alaska both have non-stops from Austin to Seattle (~4 hour flight so probably right at 6 hours total travel time with security and shit).

Average August temps something like 77/57. It basically doesn't rain June-September. Good food scene, fresh seafood and deeper Asian food than you're going to get in Austin.

Either are fine

you're probably better served with flight.   i'm more of a driver, but 6 hrs doesnt get you far, nor out of the heat. halifax checks all your boxe. its 70 there now.  its 63 in breckenridge.  fly into denver, rent a car, hit a dispensary, and get to hundreds of destinations.  lots of craft beer along the way.

Here are the parameters

  1.  <6 hours away, total- drive time, flights plus layover, etc.
  2.  Cooler and/or dryer than Austin summer
  3.  Good food

you can be in bogota in a little over 7 hours.

edit: austin to bogota, $580 on united.  houston to bogota, on the same plane as the one you'd be flying on after your transfer at if you flew from AUS, $1320 on united.

6 hours? Given Austin's location, that's practically anywhere in North America if you're flying. If driving, the best you'll do is heading to the coast.

Put me down for the hills/mountains of NC/northern Georgia. Cheap flights to Atlanta or Charlotte, ABNB a spot in the mountains, stay until Halloween.

Chicago, depending on Canadian smoke.

I was there June 30-July 4.  The first two days it was a bit humid and hazy with the Canadian wild fire, but on Sunday there was a huge rain storm in the morning that blew all that shit away, and Sunday night and all day Monday were gorgeous.  And haven't read that the smoke from Canada is as bad as it was earlier this summer.  It's a quick direct flight from Austin to either O'Hare or Midway, and you'd eat great food and could see a game at Wrigley.
