He and Williams are the same sort of guy, but Mafah doesn't have the knee injuries.  Ultimately, the Cowboys RB room is even more unknown than last year.  Blue is COP back and has ball security issues.  Good thing is a good coaching staff can correct his fumbling problems and he has juice but he's too small to take more than 10-12 touches a game on average.  Mafah and Williams are bruisers but lack burst and wiggle.  We still don't have a lead back, it's a room of RB2's, which hit was last year but at least Dowdle had the size and burst of a lead guy.  idk, I don't hate it, but I would have taken something in round 6, but RB is a place you can find a UDFA or guy off the garbage pile and to really help..... at least a good front office can.

Need a WR weapon or someone in that room will really need to improve.

If Mafah didn't play with an injured shoulder last year, I think he pops off for huge numbers and gets drafted higher. Not saying he's the second coming of Campbell, but two years ago it was obvious that he should get the majority of the carries over Shipley who has become a great jack of all trades player for Philly. Could be worse for the end of the draft

Walker DT from Kentucky was a dude I was really hoping the Cowboys could pick up cheap. Big dude can move and mess shit up, super high ceiling. He gone. Fourth round. Furk.

yeah bud, you don’t sacrifice jonathan mingo for a big athletic DTs with super high ceilings.  pretty obvious why you’re not running a team.

Im cautiously optimistic on Mingo.  Everybody likes to bag on the trade, and I get why, but will wait to see how this year plays out before making a total judgement.  He was on a shit offense with terrible QB play in CAR.

I agree Mingo has potential to be worth the 4, but probably not better than that. It sucks that they didn't have that 4 to draft one of the plethora of far more complete RBs there with early starting potential, far better prospects than Blue, who will likely be a complimentary back that isn't the final answer. But Mingo has a long way to go toward proving he's at least worth that, and he still has massive bust potential as well if the problem proves to be his mental game.

Hopefully the new staff does away with one of the worst problems the team has had since Garrett: shitty wr coaches with simplistic high school route trees.  It’s part of the QB3 philosophy of JG, Linehan, Moore.  Add in the tolerance of lazy route running and Daks usual reluctance to use his receivers catch radius, the result is lesser WRs deliver lesser results.

Oh c'mon even the biggest Dak hater isn't going to legit say the Carolina QB situation is better.

At some point ya'll gotta stop this "Dak is the worst QB in the history of EVAHHH" gimmick and realize that he's pretty darn good. Even if you don't think he's "good enough" to take them anywhere.

Not sure what you mean by Dak's reluctance when he basically has the lowest "open Receiver" stats in the league. He's been dealing with WR's that simply can't separate his entire career outside of Amari and his elite route running.  Thats' why I'm still pissed they've done absolutely nothing to help the passing game with a speedy or good #2 WR so far.

And ya'll still forget he's actually made some mid to barely average WR's look much better.  Cooks was thought to be done when he got here, so was Cobb.  He helped both of them get paid again. Not to mention the TE's that have rolled thorugh here.

The standard is a little different for the highest paid player in the league who accounts for nearly 20% of his team’s cap. Is he worth that?

I'm not debating on his standard within the top of the league or if he's worth it. That's a useless debate that has no winner here. Fact is, he's a good QB even if you think he's overpaid.

But I was responding to the comment he made in regards to comparing Dak to whoever and the fuck is playing QB for Carolina.

Yeah, I hear you. I just think people, and I will include myself in that group, give Dak shit because he’s a highly overcompensated player that doesn’t have any skins to back it up. I think he’s decent, not necessarily good and definitely not great. He’s just too inconsistent. He’ll amaze you in a game and then the next week leaving you laughing at how ineffective he is. All that said, I don’t blame him for signing a ridiculous contract. I’d fleece Jerry, too, if I were in his shoes.

That's fine. He's better than "decent".  He's at worst a borderline Top 10-15 guy which puts him in good, but not elite company. And i have no problems shitting on him for not doing more or not being worth that contract. it's whatever.  The market rate is the rate.  And he's a good regular season QB who damned near won, and should have, the MVP 2 years ago. The playoffs is the only time you can really question him.

My problem is when chuckle fucks pretend a player going from fucking Carolina to Dallas hasn't improved their QB situation. That's just obscenely wrong, and obviously they're trolling or an idiot.

Every QB contract that comes up will be the biggest contract ever and take up a big part of the cap. Someone would have paid him, the choice is whether to let him walk and start over, and the odds of finding the next big thing at QB in the draft is iffy at best, and very low for a team that is usually somewhere between 12 and 18 in the first round. For all of Jerry's faults, choosing to pay for a QB that has shown capabilities to be, at an absolute minimum, pretty damn good is not unreasonable. And yet again, spare me about "the cap," it's all enron accounting, no team has ever failed because of "the cap." The video was posted some time ago confirming what was stated above about Dak having the narrowest receiver windows, and it wasn't even close. Reminds me of everyone calling Romo a choker when he had the most lead taking 4th quarter drives for most of his career and people just ignoring that the defense would then immediately fold and give the lead back up leaving the offense in an all but impossible situation to take it back. The "Dak sucks" line is just tiring but I've stopped pretending it gets me anywhere in this thread. This is the most I've said about it in months. I'll maintain that it comes down primarily to coaching, and the Shottenheimer hire is by a million times more far dumber than paying Dak, because while someone would have paid Dak, literally nobody was interested in having Shottenheimer III as their head coach. Jerry's biggest fault is his ego which makes it impossible to hire any of the young up and coming coaches that are taking over the league, including through innovative offenses and not the same boring ass routes from Garrett, Moore, Fat Mike, etc.

you can absolutely win a super bowl with Dak if you have a top 5 running game and the best defense.

You could say that about a whole lot of QBs.

It’s all a factor. Dak was groomed by career QB3’s who lived by the “don’t fuck it up” rule.  He did best with Kitna as his coach who taught him to trust his WRs to get the ball.  With Moore he was throttled back again.  Combine that with simplistic routes and WRs who aren’t great at separation, it’s a mess.

my issue with Dak is that somewhere in his brain he has a big game problem.  MVP-like reg seasons combined with terrible collapses in January.  He isn’t the guy that can will a team to win.  Few can but he hasn’t sniffed a champ game yet.
